There are lots of sporting events. the Belmont Stakes, the Tyson/Lewis fight, (this is sporting?) the World Cup, the Stanley Cup finals, the French Open, the NBA finals. Anybody watching any of these big events? I'll probably watch the Belmont.
There's also news to be discussed. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif

There is a terror alert out for nerve gas in the nation's subways. You'll remember that this was actually done in Japan a few years ago. :o
Did you hear that Monica was in court today for jury duty. She ended up bawling her way out of having to serve. Probably a good thing. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif

Sorry about my absence yesterday. I didn't expect to be out all day, but that's the way it ended up anyway! Started with a great breakfast out with friends I haven't seen in awhile.....and went downhill from there. I went to the nursery for a few pieces of flagstone and ended up smashing my right ring finger all to heck when my right hand didn't know what my left hand was doing when it let go of one piece of stone right down onto the other hand. I'm in miserable pain...alot of swelling...and the probability of losing my fingernail. Good thing the mexicans at the nursery (illegals???) don't speak any English because they would have learned a few words! Instead they just stood there looking at me as I grabbed my finger and did a "scrunched up face" song and dance! I'm finding right now that it's not much fun typing either!
Anyway, today I have to man the store all day, so I won't be in much today either.
WELCOME to all the new members I missed greeting yesterday!
The finger is throbbing like all get out, so I'd better go for the ice. MAKE IT A GREAT DAY AND WEEKEND EVERYONE! I'll try to check in when I get home much later.

Morning all. It's a beautiful Saturday, but I don't think it will be warm enough today for the beach. We had several days of 95+ degree weather, and then yesterday and today it's in the low 70s!

What a great day it is My Halos are about to take frist place from the evil people in seattle. ya ya Did anyone catch the special on fox last night O' Rilly sp take on the liberals from Hollywood. Most of the Bush bashers would not come on the show since he scares them to much, lol http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cup.gif
I loved the reactions to the Liberals that came on Rosie agrred was on talking her stupid liberal self. However her messages appears to point her to the middle side. O'Rilly made the state that most of Hollywood has to be liberal to get work. I agree since I know a few stars who are closet supports of the GOP. Who are afraid of to state they support the GOP In fear they would lose work. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cup.gif

Good morning all. SueElise, I'm afraid we are going back into the 90's by monday, at least here in NC. I was surprized at the paucity of replies, yesterday, to GWs proposal on reorganizing the government. Saber, hope you finger gets well soon - my last finger problem came from hitting it with a hammer. Today looks like grass cutting weather. Since we had a inch and a half of rain day before yesterday maybe the dust won't be to bad. This has been one big dry spell. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. See you later.

Hi All! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif
It's going to be a scorcher here today and we don't even have a beach to go to, SueElise. It'll be a busy day on the mountain roads though.
Saber, Saber, Saber!! What are we going to do with you? We've got to find a way to keep your fingers on the keyboard and off the rocks. :o *
Seriously, it sounds like it really hurts. Please be careful! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/grouphug.gif
BTW, the illegals at the nursery probably did know those words! :o
Yesterday, there was a man on a local call in show complaining loudly about hiring a local landscaping company to fix up his new yard. They sent all workers who couldn't speak English and they were planting his expensive new plants in the wrong places. He nearly melted down trying to explain where they should go and wound up standing over these people and actually supervising the planting of everything. He said he is going to fight paying the company. I don't blame him.
lpara, I don't think my kids ever watched Mr. Rogers very much. I distinctly remember my son making fun of him.
RIM, the quote may wind up in my signature. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Mark, I'm glad to hear a report on the O'Reilley special. I saw him advertise it but lately I've found him a bit harder to take. I guess I'm getting tired of his personality.

Anyone else here enjoy "Rummyspeak". *This is the answer he gave a reporter in Brussels yesterday when he was asked about the extent of the terror threat in the U.S. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif
"The message is that there are no knowns. There are things that we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say, there are things we now know, we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns--things we do not know we don't know.
"So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say, 'Well, that's basically what we see as the situation,' that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns".
Rumsfeld, seeing the apparent bewilderment on the faces of the scribes offered a summary of what he said: "There is another way to phrase that and that is, that the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."

lpara, I guess I missed where Mr. Rogers was being discussed!
Oh, Saber! *What a horrible thing to do! *I'm sorry about your finger. *Lots of ice should help and also keep it up to stop the blood from settling in that area.
RIM, hope you get more rain. *Today is a lovely day here and we don't want anymore rain, thanks!!

This gives us a total of 21 hours and 11 minutes of daylight. That is the secret why our gardens grow such giant vegies!
This week-end my wife and I plan to go shooting at the range ("A family that shoots together stays together" ) and fly fishing for Grayling in the Chatanika river. *

Hi Aberfoyle! Well, looks like I might head out to the beach anyway. Der Alte - I hope it gets hot again! I love going to the beach and baking, then cooling off in the water. I'm looking forward to the water temp getting a little warmer so I can swim for a while.
Only one week left! Four more days with kids, and then one day to clear up. My new school is so cool, though. At my old school, on checkout day, the principal wouldn't let anyone check out before 2pm, even if we had finished everything. At this school, when you're done, you check out, even if you're finished by 10:30! Very cool. I got my final eval for the year, and it was good. I'm starting the math classes soon, too. I'm looking forward to being a student again.

Good Evening Everyone! Well, I had quite a busy day today, too. Started off doing a conservation project with the Troop and Pack at a local school in Sarasota for delopmentally handicapped students. We planted 14 oak trees, fertilized them, staked them, mulched them, and it was hot! Lots of fun and fulfilling though.
RIM, we finally got lots and lots of rain today http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/28.gif I am very happy about it, and hope it is the start of our rainy season finally! You could almost hear my lawn sigh with relief.
Welcome joan and caffein8ed! Love that name, utilizing coffee about as often as I use air. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Saber dearest, I have been told I make a good doctor, and I am sorry about your finger. The ice idea sounds good. So does letting your workers do the heavy lifting.
This afternoon (before the rain) I managed to go swimming for the first time in months. Did 30 laps in the pool (both ways). Need to practice for scout summer camp when the son and I are going to try for the Mile Swim BSA (yep, swim a mile continuously), among other things. Then my sister's family came over for a barbecue and dessert, and my mom just came back from 3 weeks in Europe. She said every TV was glued to the World Cup over there, the food was great, and there were two bomb scares near their hotel when they were in France (they were also in Italy part of the trip).
Angelus, if you can't be lazy on the weekend, when can you? It is good to kick back once in a while and take up space.
Terri, as far as "Rummyspeak" it sounds like he is well matched with his boss! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Everyone have a great day tomorrow, too! I personally hope it rains a bit more, as most of my activities are likely to be inside. Have to go to a meeting in the morning to see about getting my son into a really excellent private school in Sarasota tomorrow, and supposedly he may get a full scholarship! Later in the afternoon need to go to a Scoutmaster conference for the Troop and plan the next 6 months of outings for the guys. Will probably try to get in more swimming. A mile is far! Well, need to go help the wife straighten up the house now that my sister, brother-in-law and nephew left (not to mention the toll my own 3 boys take on the house whenever anyone is over!). Talk to you manana.
