SPARTANBURG, SC (Talon News) -- Another new poll released on Wednesday shows that although former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean is pulling away from his Democrat rivals, the continuing and growing strength behind President George W. Bush's reelection bid is dominating the 2004 Democrat candidates for president despite their negative campaigning and attacks against him.
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean leads the Democrat contenders for the 2004 nomination in the latest Quinnipiac University poll with 22 percent, Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) comes in second at 13 percent, retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark received 12 percent, and Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) and civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton tied with 8 percent each.
The Quinnipiac poll found that 18 percent of registered voters are still undecided.
