SPARTANBURG, SC (Talon News) -- With less than seven weeks to go until the first-in-the-South Democrat presidential primary in South Carolina, the Democrats are desperately seeking assistance from Republican poll workers to ensure their election takes place as scheduled on February 3, 2004.
As late as May 2003, the South Carolina Democrat Party had very little funds on hand. As of October, the state party had only raised $220,000 in donations and pledges, most of which has been needed for operating expenses.
The South Carolina Democrat Party expects the primary to cost $500,000. To help make up the gap in revenue, the state party is now begging for volunteers to help work the polls on election day, including many Republicans.
Former U.S. Rep. Liz J. Patterson (D-SC) recently sent out a letter on behalf of the Spartanburg County (SC) Democrat Party to both Republican and Democrat poll workers urging them to volunteer their time for the primary.

I don't know how many we have from SC but I thought this was interesting.
