We cannot fight unless we unite
Written by: Carolyn Hileman
Imagine what it would be like if our soldiers were to be like us, arguing and fighting over stupid trivial stuff. It seems we didn’t learn a thing that fateful day in September, Sometimes I have to wonder if some even remember. But we get so caught up in fighting over this or that, That we don’t even know who we are or where we’re at. We are so divided now it would take miracle to bring us back together, it is hard to remember that on that day we cared about each other.
Not our great soldiers, who are fighting for the cause, their unity is reason enough to give pause. I am sure that they do not all agree, on the direction we have taken to remain free. But they put their differences behind them, they concentrate on what it takes to win. You see they understand what it takes to get it right, and they know we cannot fight unless we unite.
It always seems to be this way people looking everywhere for some one to blame, I don’t know why maybe in some way it eases their pain. But denial and reproach is unproductive now, because we must find a way to keep us safe somehow. We simply do not have the time to worry about whom was right, because we cannot fight unless we unite.
If perchance our plans should fail and we must face our enemy, all we will have to count on is you and me. Would you carry me if I am injured or ask my party first, will you hold me if I cry when I am told the worst? Or would you simply walk away shaking you head in disgust, softly muttering the words see what your president did to us?
Divisiveness is really good if you’re trying to win an election, but it leaves a lot to be desired if you’re looking for protection. Divisions only open up the door that we need to stay closed, it shoots the wall between us and them completely full of holes. Just something for you to think about as you kiss your kid’s goodnight, that we simply cannot fight unless we unite.
