Does anyone else agree, but with recent events with in the EU, that a United Europe, and Europe is about to fall?
I beleive it will and a European Union will never work; unlike the United States, the states have common goals and interests and speak one lanuage.
Anyone care to concur?

I'm not sure that a United Europe is forever doomed to fail but if history is any indicator, it is not be likely to have a lot of longevity either.
After all, Europe has been largely united on several occasions. It was united under the Romans, Napolean, Hitler and maybe others.
The strongest countries in Europe seem somewhat committed to the EU so, I think the EU may eventually get a constitution passed and Europe maybe united for a while. I think we may see a brief reign of the Belgium Empire.
But basically those people have been fighting each other for at least 3000 years and there is a lot more that separates them then unites them. They have very different cultures, values, languages and needs. And, while they like to hold themselves out as civilized, their history has been barbaric and there are blood grudges that go back for milleniums. There are terrorist campaigns going on in Ireland, France (Corsica), Spain, most of the Balkins, Turkey, Crete and probably elsewhere so their history continues.
As far as the current constitution goes, it is a disastrous document and deserves to be cast on the dustbin of history. Its major failing is that it plays lipservice to federalism where the power would be divested to the member states like our US Constiutution but it then proceeds to gather all of the real power unto itself. It tries to force a one size fits all rule of law on Europe where the reality is that what is good for secular Brittain might not be good for very Catholic Poland. It is easy to see that it was written by a Frenchman as it has the smell of the Napoleonic code. It would be hard to imagine the English or Irish going for it. It deserves to be thrown out and started fresh.

There is about as much chance of an (ongoing, lasting) united Europe, with its current makeup of nations, as there is of a united Middle East, without excluding Israel. In other words, zero. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
