Morning all. Sounds like yesterday was a pretty good day. I tried out a new church (people from my parents church who moved here invited me) and liked it - I'll definitely go back. I've been looking for a church like my parents' since I moved here (6 years ago!). Spent the rest of the day on the beach. I'm getting very tan.

Today, the first weekday of my vacation, I woke up at 6 am! I guess it'll take me a while to get out of the early-to-rise mode. I'm hoping that this part-time job works out - revising the apprenticeship curriculum for a local utility co.

There seems to be a lot of stuff going on right now, so I'm off to check the posts - have to find that

Quote

article by Dick Morris about http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif Hillary http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif
- I'm sure I'll be http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/barf.gif -ing, too.

HI http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif Terri, RIM and SueElise!

SueElise, by the time you get your inner clock onto a reasonable "get up" hour......it will be the end of summer and back to school time! I have found, at least, that even when I go to bed very, very, very late....I STILL get up at the crack of dawn! Maybe it's just part of my "getting old" thing and you will adapt much better being the youngster that you are!

Terri....."Immigrati on Billboards"? Oh, I can see I've just GOT to check THAT out! SOOOOOOOOOOO, is Colorado going to hang Msssssss. Barton by the hair or the toenails?? It really confirms my wonderment(?) about how some people make it through the day. I mean it....I see SOOOO many incompetent people doing idiotic things......

HI FLg! Just thought I'd give you a "pre-emptive" HI.....
Love, STBFL LOL

We all need a little consoling about now http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/grouphug.gif What makes me especially http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/barf.gif is that I truly believe it can.....and just might.....happen. Don't EVER forget that the people in this country actually voted in her pervert husband and CELEBRATED his presidency for eight lllloooooooooonnnnnn nnngggggggg years. Never under estimate the "DUH" equation of many American voters.

Good morning all! *I came here last, visiting the other forums first. *I'm telling you all now, that Hitlary will run in '08, and she'll win unless we have a REALLY GOOD candidate. *We might have to settle for a "half liberal", or something (like Bush seems to be now) in order to keep her out. *Hey, I'll take Bill again before I want her running our country (and that's really saying something!)

Anyway, I thought I'd start a little service here. *I'm going to post one or 2 small passages from the Bible each day here (you can skip them if you're not into that, but others might like it). *So, without further ado: here they are:
The first reading is from Deuteronomy 30:11-20

Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. *It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so that we may obey it?" *No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.
See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. *For I command you you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and lawsl then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. *You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. *Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. *For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The second reading is from Romans 1:18-32
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God has made it plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. *For since the creatiopn of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking becamse futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. *Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. *They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. *Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. *Even their women exchanged natural relations with unnatural ones. *In the same way men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. *Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Furthermore, since they did not hink it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. *They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. *They are full og envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. *They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent their ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents, they are senselsess, faithless, heartless, ruthless. *Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Here ends the readings.

OK, now, can we find the common thread? *We see that in both readings, the godless way is the evil way. *It is the way of homosexuality, of greed, of malice, of slander, etcetera.

Now, to make a political point, can we look at a certain party out there that practices and approves of those who practice these things? *I sure can.

Well, I better be going now. *I've got to do some things around the house. *Have a good day everyone! *

Anyone got time for another http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cup.gif?

Yes, I think Hillary will run in 2008 unless someone manages to throw her in jail before then. Probably not a very good chance of that. However, she has a lot to overcome to win. We've never had a female president and it seems to me that it would be hard to elect one who is obviously such a witch.

This shallow TV oriented society will vote for charm and good looks over substance every time. The word is charisma. It's still my opinion that this is exactly why Bill was elected twice. Hillary was left out in the cold in the charisma department. Once you get past her radical leftwing admirers she's going to have to win on substance. I don't think she can. We shall see. *How old will young Jorge Bush be by then? Hmmmmm......probably not quite old enough. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sunflower.gif

SueElise, I still wake up early no matter how late I go to bed or how long I've been retired. I guess that's just the way it is. I hope your new parttime job goes well for you.

"The Torch" http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif or Terry Barton as she used to be known was a parttime forest service employee. I'm not sure what that means to them in this time of reduced budgets but it used to be someone who did maintenance in campgrounds, on trails, or any forest service property, certainly not a forest ranger or anyone of authority.

I saw some interviews with the locals who know her and she may be lynched before she gets to the huge fines and jail terms. One man spoke well of her calling her a good kind person who didn't set this fire on purpose. Probably not. She burned the letter inside a fire ring but there is no excuse for her. Good grief!!! Use the shredder at the office, tear it into a thousand bits and throw it out the truck window or flush it down the toilet. Sheeez!!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

hillary.... YUCK!!!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif Terri, remember what we talked about in another thread; Hillary is the queen of fakery, she can fake her way back into America's voting booths, I have no doubt about it. The key is for us (the Republicans) to catch her in the act being who she really is. Pardon my language, but a class A b*tch. I hope that if she becomes a candidate, that we have the cameras rolling when she least expects it. It is up to the GOP to show America (actually, just remind them) who she is, was, and forever will be. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/barf.gif

The guy who she hired to do her home is also building the Governors Mansion, so he has promised that he will have the job done quick, so he can get back to his more important job, I am sure LMAO!

Welcome dlander. We look forward to your posts.

RIM, this wolf always play nicely with foxes. White flags are optional and are only used in case of emergencies. Being a domesticated wolf, I do indeed clean the foxhole as needed, and certainly am a good cook (me being the primary cook in my household) with Oriental food being my specialty (not Chinese, more exotic stuff like Thai, Vietnamese, or Japanese, Szechaun being the exception). Um, what's a BR? I didn't catch that last part about behaving, but it's probably not important. And you should know you don't have to be PC in the hole cuz of me. Remember the dog mauling case in San Francisco? The judge has set aside the second degree murder conviction and is now having a sentencing hearing on the manslaughter charge. Witness impact statements are currently on and the victims of the deceased woman are understandably incensed. This may be the correct decision on the part of the judge.

So! Since the US didn't have any chance to beat Mexico but they did, do they have a chance to win the whole thing? There is almost nothing I know less about than World Cup soccer. But success breeds interest. When the Avalanche came to Denver and won the Stanley Cup the very first year the whole state was transformed into hockey fans. The same thing could happen to the country with soccer.

Aberfoyle, I'd probably never have heard of the water if not for WalMart. I'm sure they sell it all over the country.

Der Alte, I think I found a page on that publication online. Is this it? (http://www.manews.org/)

Yes, Terri, there is that small chance that they could win everything. They are in the quarter finals with Germany on Friday. We'll see how that goes.

But... The favorites are Brazil right now and England is doing so well too.

But some of the BIG NAMES like Argentina who were thought to have had it all wrapped up are now OUT!!

Anyway, we'll all have our best cheering voices practiced for Friday!

For the record, I'm Lutheran, so that's "Pastor Angelus",

I'm glad I've received a couple of good responses from my earlier post. I'll have another sermon up an running for tomorrow. And I'll always try to have one Old Testament and one New Testament passage. This will show how God did not change things after Jesus came, except for us having to live perfectly. All God did was add grace to the equation.

Anyway, I just thought I'd pop in here and see how things were going. The USA is having a Cinderella of a time in soccer right now. Reminds me of my senior year of high school. We snuck in the back door of the playoffs in football, and we wound up 2nd in the State (and if you had seen the game, you would know that we only got beat because a referee moved the ball back on us, forcing a punt when we should have been able to run out the clock and win it 14-10, instead of losing 16-14).
I hope we do good in soccer. I usually don't care for soccer, but if the USA wins it (or advances a couple more rounds at least), I might start to liking it just a bit more.

There is fire news tonight and it's not good. It was hotter today with more wind. There have been some large flareups in our local fire and the largest town west of Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, could be evacuated tonight. This could mean several thousand more people out of their homes. The town is 18 miles west of the Springs but the fire is only a few miles north of the town, Woodland Park. It's crowning in the trees in a large recreational area with several campgrounds and a lot of houses. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

The Missionary Ridge fire in the southwest part of the state is also growing and may be elevated in importance over Hayman. This one is burning in a well populated tourist area. There are many summer homes and cabins there.

Aberfoyle, it would be neat if they win but I don't know if I will watch the game or not. I think I heard someone say it's at an odd hour. *IF I watch it will be my first soccer game ever. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif

I heard that there was a riot in Juarez after the game and some US folks had trouble getting back across the bridge. I guess cars were damaged and one person taken to a hospital. Soccer has a terrible reputation.

Angelus, I hate it when referees effect outcomes of games. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Der Alte, maybe more people will want it if they follow the link. I didn't look around much but I will.

RIM, what we wouldn't give you for that water tonight. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif Our humidity is 11% and tomorrow's temp is forecast at 96 degrees.

Tisha, I think I failed to speak to you earlier when I got in a rush. I hope you had fun with your friend. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Terri ~ I'm so sorry to hear that the fires are still so bad. I wish I could send some of the "downpour" we had today your way. The woman who caused all this tragic mess has given the terrorists a real run for their money. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif I feel so sorry for all the people who have lost so much. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Thanks, RIM. I know you'd share if you could. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

She isn't even someone you can really despise. She was incredibly stupid. She reported the fire as soon as she realized she couldn't put it out herself. She's a member of the community that has lost so much. Some of the burned out people are her friends. They are keeping her in jail out of fear for her life both from the victims and also by her own hand. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

I just learned on the local news that the Red Cross is opening a large high school in the Springs for the latest evacuees. Many people have already had to leave their homes this afternoon.

It's really a credit to the firefighters that only 29 homes have been lost. They are here from all over the country. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Howdy Everyone! Welcome to our new members!! *Been a busy day for me. *This is really the first chance I've been able to sit down at the http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/compute.gif. *I was here this a.m. and read a couple of posts--but had to trot off to help my husband find one of his chapters of his dissertation on HIS computer. *I'm the whiz in our family and you all know that is not saying anything--especially RIM--she's my tutor! *I did find it though and he owes me 4-ever and a day now! *It was LOADS of research--a real downer if he had to do it over. *

Then, we decided to celebrate Jo-Jo's b-day today with cake and presents since it's kind of busy here on Sundays. *I made http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angel.gif food cake with cherries and cream cheese filling. *Mmmm it was good and there is so much left over--maybe some of you all can come and finish it up. *(I hate leftovers--no room in the fridge!)

You know BR can stand for another room in the house (although I always knew which BR you all were referring to) and if there are any of THOSE BR's--NO WOLVES ALLOWED! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *(unless you bring your own fox):smile109:

Could someone please pass me the BP pills? *I feel my pressure rising just thinking about the witch with a capital B and I don't even have high BP!!http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif *If that woman gets in, can we all leave the country?

CG--what a fun way to spend the day--our friends just built a (humongous) house and she didn't ask me to help pick anything out, but she showed me different swatches etc. and that was a blast! *

pRIM, are you sure you can't bring some of that rain with you next week up here? *I heard DROUGHT on the news today--bad news for farmers. *

Well, Saber, FLguy, CG, Terri, pRIM, Der Alte, Angelus and dear Aberfoyle--I enjoy you all! *Thanks for being my cyber-conservofriends!

Good Evening y'all Well, RIM wasn't lyin, it was coming down in buckets a few minutes ago! Best rain we had in months. I do wish we could send some out to CO, even though we could use it here as well. Terri, sorry the fire has gotten worse; I thought they had it under control...

Welcome MYUSA4EVER! We are glad you are here, and would love to have you join in posting.

RIM, I like dogs, they like me. Almost became a vet at one time. Never met a dog I couldn't tame, no matter how mean or from what junkyard they were from. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif Me and Rex will get along just fine! Where in your neck of the woods are you eating Chinese food all week? It can't be that good...can it? Every good foxhole needs a bathroom or two. I will just install a men's room as well, so the gents have a place to um, "rest" as well. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Laurie, you are a breath of fresh air everytime you come to the Precinct. You are so nice to everyone! You know, I heard a warm bath and a good back massage are much better for high BP than pills are; just a thought. (yum, angel food cake with cream cheese and cherries) :1luvu:

Just got back tonight from another Katherine Harris fundraiser, this time a barbecue sponsored by the Sarasota County Farm Bureau. I love a political event where it is mostly ag people, and you can wear your boots, jeans, and cowboy hat. Didn't even have to change coming back from work. We had a great time, even though it was pouring. Ribs, chicken, coleslaw, sweet tea, and beans. Good southern stuff. The president of Farm Bureau is Rory Martin, a good friend of mine. You gotta love anyone whose name is Rory. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Talk to you all tomorrow morning.

FLguy, the fire wasn't ever controlled. They had 40% containment but it's loose again on the south end now. Did you give Katherine all your money? She deserves it.

Hi Ya'll!

I used to subscribe to Middle American News....it's very good...BUT...I found that by the time I got my subscription, I had already read most all of the articles on the internet. I ended up throwing it out more often than not because there was nothing "new". Same thing with Conservative Chronicle. They are both great conservative newsletters(?), but with such quick access on the internet to all the articles, it didn't seem worth the costs of the subscriptions. Just my http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif

WELCOME to our Newbies today! Thanks for joining http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif. The people here are clear-headed and obnoxiously fun!!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/grouphug.gif Come on in and join the discussions!

TERRI! The stories I have heard about this "Terry" and the letter from her ex-husband....well, let's just say.....WIERD! I've been wondering how she could be so STOOPID....but I feel a certain amount of sorrow for her. This was obviously not intentional and she must find herself in a pure living hell right about now even THINKING about all the devastation her actions have wrought on so many other innocent people. Very terrible, sad situation.

RIM, you know you're in for a "whopper" of a storm when the satellite starts crashing and you get "searching for satellite signal". Man the lifeboats when that comes on because the skies are about to open up!

HI Ipara!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif Thanks for the nice complement. You're one cool conservababe! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif

Aberfoyle....I really like soccer too, but these games in the middle of the night are NOT conducive to hyping soccer around here! I can't believe there can't be a better way to schedule some of these games to further promotion of the game itself. GO http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif

See you all in the http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif

Hi Everyone!

Just got in from a sad event. A driver I trained and examined and then licenced 21 years ago was involved in a horrific accident on Friday and was killed. Two little 5 year old students were not injured. I went to the visitation at the funeral parlor 100 kms away from where I live. It was kind of nice to see many old drivers whose names I've forgotten but they remembered me. Sad though.. They think she went through a red light and was hit by two loaded gravel trucks!

Saber, the hockey games are scheduled for this time because of where they are being played! They are daytime and evening games in Japan and Korea! Here in Canada, to see them "live" we get up at 4 a.m. to see them and then later but they are always replayed during the day if you don't feel like getting up.

I just love the game so much.

Hi Laurie! It is fun reading your posts.

Hello to the rest and welcome Newbies!

I'm tired from the drive tonight so going to bed!

Terri, I'm sorry I didn't mention my wishes for Colorado. *I just read an article in the WP and it is really heartbreaking that so many have already lost their homes. *It is really sad about that poor woman, I really do feel sorry for her--I heard today that 47% of the fires were contained but that was early this morning. *Sorry that it's not over yet! *One lady said in something I read "somewhere" tonight that they were living in their mobile home or camper and watching the house. *They drove past it 6 or 7 times a day to see if it was still there. *Really pitiful! *We are all so fortunate. *There is always someone to think about who is far worse off than I!! *

Has anyone heard if that H.R. 1452 passed last Thursday? *I haven't seen anything anywhere.

Did you all see that Pat Buchanan could be DEEP THROAT? *I didn't recognize any of the other 4 possibilities. *Guess I know why they want to be http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/anon.gif *When I first saw the words "Deep Throat" I thought what in the world is that about? *Never heard of it! *I remember when I was in 3rd grade maybe--I wrote Richard M. Nixon all over all my school notebooks. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *I was a repubobabe in 3rd grade! *Emphasis on babe! (as in baby)! :cheesy:

Aberfoyle--were you a bus driver teacher? *I didn't know that! *

Ooooh, I see some things on my desk that need attention--See Ya In the Morning if Not Before! *(we used to say that to our kiddies every night before we tucked them in!}

Saber, I think we are compassionate Republicans afer all. I'm sure this woman is in her own personal hell. Her life is changed forever and I don't think it will continue in this state. Once she is through with the courts and possibly jail, she will have to go elsewhere.

This area of our mountains is just chock full of summer cabins and year around houses. Several more large areas are now under mandatory evacuation tonight since my last post. Woodland Park is still on standby. The smoke is back down here so we may need to close our windows tonight.

lpara, a lot of people are living in their RVs at the fairgrounds and in supermarket parking lots. The campgrounds that are open are full.

Aberfoyle, what a sad thing to happen. It sounds like this was a school bus.

Off to see if there is any news. I've been involved in other things tonight and need to catch up. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
