Rep. Gresham Barrett (R-SC) is introducing his Securing America's Future through Enforcement Reform (SAFER) Act (http://www.conservativealer ts.com/111703.htm). The bullet points listed by ConservativeAlerts.c om are persuasive.
Anyone heard anything about this?
After Cornyn's "amnesty that's not an amnesty" bill and the nightmarish DREAM Act, I'm very skeptical.
Also...what's the strategy with this? The CLEAR Act hasn't passed yet and seems buried in committee (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:HR02671:@@@X) . Why the push for a different bill that is similar but bigger?
Hopefully this is part of a full-court press strategy by the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus (http://www.house.gov/tancredo/Immigration/welcome.htm).
