BEVERLY HILLS, CA (Talon News) -- Norman Lear, liberal television producer and founder of the leftist-leaning political group People For the American Way, has begun a new $9 million voting drive designed to get as many as two million young adults to vote in the 2004 election.
"Getting young people to vote is a sizable challenge," Lear declared at the press conference announcing this effort. "But were going to move the mountain one rock at a time."
The Beverly Hills, CA-based "Declare Yourself" campaign will feature an original copy of the Declaration of Independence and will target 18 college campuses to inspire the students to get out and vote.
The nationwide tour will begin on January 26, 2004 at Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire and will end on March 30, 2004 on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
