Republican Rossi launches bid for governor!
Vowing to make Washington a more business-friendly place, state Senator Dino Rossi of Sammamish yesterday launched his bid to become the state's first Republican governor in two decades.
"This state is on the wrong track, and the reason is a failure of leadership," Rossi told a crowd of 400 supporters at the Village Theatre in Issaquah, in the heart of the legislative district he has represented since 1996.
It became obvious that jobs and the economy will be key campaign themes for Rossi. In the theater lobby, Rossi's campaign staff put up a poster-size version of the latest nationwide unemployment rankings, which show Washington with the second-highest jobless rate in the nation.
Rossi said the Democrats who have held the governor's office since 1984 are largely to blame for the state's economic woes and the recent surge of job losses.
"For 20 years our state has pursued policies that destroy jobs and opportunities for families and communities," Rossi said, later adding, "We have got to quit bludgeoning our businesses until they say, as Boeing said, 'We're out of here'."
"Amen," responded someone in the crowd.

I think most of you can understand the excitement this is generating here in the land of the extremely liberal. People in the party have been working on Dino for months to get him to run. I would say the effort was a success. My next move is to see if I can work on his campaign in ANY way, shape or form.
We MUST have a Republican governor.
