Dear Group,
Here's a response to a misguided, but dear, childhood friend who sent me an e-mail. *I have deleted names to protect the guilty (that's him, anyone who chain-mailed this and of course the originator whoever they may be.) *Of course, comments and suggestions are welcome.
Dear Friend:
If you're going to circulate propaganda, it's helpful to have truth on your side. *Let me help!

>I attacked and took over two countries.
Ans. True and Good! *The US took out the two of the five most oppressive regimes in the world and opened their peoples up for something better, which will be just about anything.
>
>I spent the U.S. surplus and bankrupted the US
Treasury.
Ans. False. *US is running a large deficit. *It is not in bankruptcy.
Bush did not "spend" our way into the large deficit. *The economy was weakening before his first budget came into effect and then was jolted by 9/11. *As I send this e-mail, the 3rd Quarter of the US GDP had its biggest surge in almost 20 years and, even the jobs picture (which is the most lagging part of the economic picture) is brightening. *126,000 new jobs were added in the last month and unemployment is now down to 6%.
>I shattered the record for the biggest annual deficit
in history (not easy!).
Does 9/11/01 ring a bell? *Sounds like this was substantially the work of terrorism--not the President.
>
>I set an economic record for the most personal
bankruptcies filed in
>any 12-month period.
Bankruptcies have been on an almost continuous rise for as long as I can remember, which is why the Republicans bullied through bankruptcy reform over Democrat objections. *Also, could the bankruptcies occurring in this decade be at all related to the inflated stock without value and the overextension of credit in the 1990s? *Hmmm!
>I set all-time record for the biggest drop in the
history of the stock
>market.
Ans. See above.
>
>I am the first president in decades to execute a
federal prisoner.
Ans. Is there a point here?
>
>In my first year in office I set the all-time record
for most days on
>vacation by any president in US history (tough to
beat my dad's, but I did).
Ans. As opposed to Clinton who had sexual relations with a member of his staff, brought IRS records into the White House of political opponents for Heaven Knows What purpose and hired convicted criminals for his staff and, oh yes, tried to socialize medicine out of the box (1/7 of the US economy).
I prefer a President on "working" vacation in Crawford, TX to a President who is a R.O.A.D. Warrior like Clinton*
(*Retired On Active Duty)
while not on vacation
>After taking the entire month of August off for
vacation, I presided over
>the worst security failure in US history.
Ans. If 9/11/01 is what's being talked about, blame rests squarely on Clinton who cut the intelligence budgets and failed to follow through on capturing Bin Laden when he was offered him on a silver platter by Egypt.
>
>I set the record for most campaign fund raising trips
by any president
>in US history.
Ans. Probably untrue. *But, he now has almost $900 million raised, which should counter the DNC book purchases of anti-Republican slam books from authors like Hillary Clinton and Al Franken, media bias and union spending nicely. *
>
>In my first two years in office over 2 million
Americans lost their jobs.
Ans. See above.
>I cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work
Americans than any
>other president in US history.
Ans. Untrue. Unemployment benefits ran out after six months and Bush extended them shortly thereafter.
>
>I set the all-time record for most real estate
foreclosures in a
>12-month period.
Ans. See above.
>
>I appointed more convicted criminals to
administration positions than
>any president in US history.
Ans. Don't even know what this is about? Who are you talking about? *Where is the scandal?
>I set the record for the fewest press conferences of
any president, since the
>advent of TV.
Ans. This is justified alone by the presence of Helen Thomas. *Look around. *The public doesn't generally see this as a liability given the continued bias of most of the liberal media. *Republicans got two new governors this past election after Bush and Cheney came to their states. *Bush and Gore had the exact opposite effects on their party's chances in 2002.
>I signed more laws and executive orders amending the
Constitution
>than any other US president in history.
Ans. This is just wrong and stupid. *You can only amend the Constitution through amendment process. *Laws are subject to constitutional review by the US Supreme Court and Exec. Orders are disposable by succeeding presidents.
Short-term measures are necessary at this time. *When Bush got in the CIA wasn't even allowed to post undercover agents in US mosques.
>
>I presided over the biggest energy crises in US
history and refused to
>intervene when corruption was revealed.
>
Ans. I kind of remember gas lines during the Carter years. *There has never been an energy crisis. *The disaster was in speculation of energy prices and on top of the corporate corruption, it now appears that the regulatory agencies (filled with Dems) were keeping prices artificially high in Dem strongholds like CA and MA.
>I cut health care benefits for war veterans.
Ans. True...and Clinton wouldn't give actives pay raises. *Both should be remedied and the full GI Bill should be restored. *Exactly which Dem candidate will pledge to do that. *Answer: None.
>

to simultaneously

Ans. unaccountable of any

Ans. Obviously, you slept through the preceding administration. *Besides, your opinion is wrong. *Bush has come under more negative scrutiny and obstruction than an modern President.
>Members of my cabinet are the richest of any
administration in US in
>history. (The poorest multimillionaire, Condoleeza
Rice, has a Chevron oil

Ans. Maybe you think Condi and Colin would only be qualified if they picked cotton in their prior life instead of living the American dream and being amongst America's most respected people.
Come to think of it, isn't Condoleeza Rice everything that Hillary Clinton supporters claims their heroine is supposed to be, except that she's conservative and black?
>I am the first president in US history to have all 50
states of the Union

>
>I presided over the biggest corporate stock market
fraud in any market
>in any country in the history of the world.
Ans. It happened while he was President. *So? *Obviously, this person doesn't know the definition of the word "presided" or doesn't care what it really means.
>
>I am the first president in US history to order a US
attack AND military
>occupation of a sovereign nation, and I did so

If by most of the international community you mean dictatorships, Russia, Germany, Belgium and France, I'm fine with it.

>I am the first president in US history to compel the
United Nations

United Nations

Ans. Still think the UN operates properly and deserves unlimited US financing as a reward, do you? How said

least amount of

administration in US

Ans. Untrue patently.

Ans. By winning the Iraq war more effectively and quickly than anyone dreamed possible after being obstructed by the UN consistently.
The UN rendered themselves irrelevant and are now trying to play "catch-up" on credibility.
>I withdrew from the World Court of Law.
Ans. Any US president that cedes US law to an international court doesn't deserve to be president. *
>I refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners
of war and by
>default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions.
Ans. Wrong. *Camp Zero prisoners are Al-Quaeda terrorists and the Taliban were only recognized by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Oman. *The Geneva Convention doesn't apply to them and federal court has so ruled.
>
>I am the first president in US history to refuse
United Nations election
>inspectors access during the 2002 US elections.
Ans. The Left really went overboard in trying to overrule the US Supreme Court in the election. *Also, several large news organizations counted the Florida vote using Gore's more liberal vote-counting criteria and Bush still won the state and the election.
>
