(November 29, 1947)
United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181 called for the partition of the British-ruled Palestine Mandate into a Jewish state and an Arab state. It was approved on November 29, 1947 with 33 votes in favor, 13 against, 10 abstentions and one absent (see list at end of document).

I just started out wondering about the history of Israel and Palistine, and how they began, and what about the bumps in the road, and why wasn't Palistine a State.
I found this cool website with maps and history. My curiosity was piqued when Terri asked whether six months was moving too fast for Iraqi. *And this site gave a rare glimpse into the creation of a state. *And Iraq passed one of the hurdles already by being accepted by the UN.

The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel
by Prof. E. Gutmann

The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel was approved at a festive session of the People’s Council, comprised of representatives of the yishuv (the Jewish community in Palestine) and the Zionist movement, on Friday, May 14, 1948, several hours before the British Mandate for Palestine came to an end.

The Declaration consists of seven sections, and stipulates six matters:

It asserts the natural right of the Jewish people to be like all other peoples, exercising self-determination in its sovereign state.

It proclaims the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz Israel, named "the State of Israel."

It establishes provisional institutions of state governance: the Provisional Council of State and the Provisional Government.

It states that an elected constituent assembly will formulate a constitution within several months.

It sets forth the principles of the political rule of the newly formed state.

It calls for peace and cooperation with the Arabs of Israel, the neighboring countries and their peoples, the Jewish people throughout the Diaspora, and the United Nations Organization.

jonessa ~ here is another very informative site addressing the questions WHO ARE THE PALESTINIANS? WHAT & WHERE is PALESTINE? (http://www.masada2000.org/)

The conflict in the ME has been going on for thousands of years. So six month, IMO, is probably not going to be enough time to fix what has been festering in Iraq for so long. But it's a start. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif

I liked that link. *And I like this one's maps as well. *And what these sites have done is reinforce my belief about Palistine as this link states.

There has never been a civilization or a nation referred to as "Palestine" and the very notion of a "Palestinian Arab nation" having ancient attachments to the Holy Land going back to time immemorial is one of the biggest hoaxes ever perpetrated upon the world! There is not, nor has there ever been, a distinct "Palestinian" culture or language.

So here we are going round and round with a group of arabs that cannot make peace, because for one, there is no sense of self, no sense of 'identity,' *that would create a sense of urgency in formulating the tenets of a constitution.

On the other hand in Iraq we have a war in one month, followed by several stabilizing ones and the expectency of the formulation of a constitution within six months.

http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif *And the 'Palistinians' are still fighting, 'for what?' *Are they just a group of rogue arabs united in a quest of obliterating jews.....it seems that way. *
Well, I'm off to explore some more. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tiho.gif

The fact is, that the Palistinians are still fighting because they are led by Yassir Arafat. He is an old Soviet War-pig that has become a billionaire in the terroism business. Hang him, and impound his billions, and Hamas will fall apart. Chase down the money and start closing the "Madrasa's" which I believe is Bedoin for suicide bomber boot camp. And Palastinian people will be able to find new leadership that is not slavishly following Mohabism. Mohabism is the Arab format of Nazism. The old song goes, "But if you want money for people with minds that hate, all I can tell you buddy is you have to wait."
