Former Protester Says He Was Wrong About Iraq War

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- Ken Joseph opposed going to war in Iraq and protested the United States' decision to confront Saddam Hussein. But the soft-spoken minister says that he had a "stark dose of reality" when he went to Iraq to help do what he could to "stop the war."

Joseph, an Assyrian Christian born outside Iraq, has relatives who endured the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein. He had a change of heart when he found they wanted the war "to come as soon as possible so they could be freed from the nightmare."

He left Iraq when the United Nations pulled out shortly before the commencement of hostilities. Joseph returned with the first post-war relief truck. Since then, he has been working to do all he can "to make a difference for the Iraqi people and for my people, the Assyrians."

Well, that's the 5th one the media has reported. There must be thousands coming out of the woodwork.

I think this is the same man we discussed in the forum just as the war was starting. *He said that he believed devoutly that *he was doing the right thing by going to Iraq and protesting the war. *I believe he was one of the human shields. *His main thought was that he came to the realization that he was doing what he thought was right and not taking into consideration what the Iraqis thought. *He took a cab to someplace and the cabbie told him to go home because they wanted to be rid of Saddam Hussein because he was a brutal tyrant. *"I was doing what I wanted; not what the Iraqi people wanted."

Quote[/b] ]Joseph is troubled by the behavior of relief agencies and Iraqi civilians who "demand services that were not that good even before the war."

I've read this in quite a few places. Why does our news media keep saying that we blew up their infrastructure. What infrastructure? I'm so sick of hearing these lunatics prattle on and on about how terrible things are in Iraq and how the Iraqis hate the U.S. Except for a few malcontents, the U.S. military seem to believe that they did a good thing. I believe they did a wonderful thing.

I am puzzled as to what behavior of relief agencies he specifically refers to. I've heard that they're making a lot of demands of the U.S. but haven't heard real concrete issues. I've got to believe that there's an http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angel.gif riding with our troops and their officers over there, because I'd probably have http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shootout.gif half of the Iraqis and all of the reporters and probably the relief agencies by now. That's all they do is drag their feet, whine and complain. AND LIE!! It's disgusting.
