September 17th is Constitution Day. This day commemorates the day the U.S. Constitution was signed by 39 courageous Americans in 1787. The document these men created is the best blueprint for the organization of society yet devised. This document has allowed the people in the United States to prosper beyond the wildest dreams of every preceding generation. The government these men created was no accident. It was the result of extensive examination of all preceding governments, the problems inherent is dictatorial regimes, and, perhaps most important, the realization that freedom is a gift endowed by the Creator to which every human is entitled.

Not all of the men gathered in Philadelphia accepted the notion that black people were entitled to freedom. In fact, some of the men considered black people to be property. This difference of opinion almost destroyed the new government before it was created. Honest men, sincerely seeking a better government found a compromise that satisfied neither side, but was an acceptable way to postpone the resolution until another day.

Never before has our Constitution been under such a serious attack. It can be saved only by dedicated Americans who value freedom more than government handouts and free markets more than a government-managed society. The only way to save our Constitution is to unseat the usurpers in Washington and replace them with people who know that less government is the best government.carried out by those Americans who haven't been drugged by the 'nanny state' who still remember the civic responsibilities of self-governance citizenship, and take the time to exercise it: voting and feedback to the hirelings elected. And for those of us who are in various degrees of intoxication, we need to relearn what freedom is all about, and the responsibility that goes with it, before we find out the hard way (and then it is way, if not too, late).

We conservatives do have our work cut out for us. I would be greatly interested to hear how we in the Forum membership carry this work out. Three years back, there was a member who decided to engage the local Republican committee, and ended up getting elected to the chair. This member reported the activity to a Forum thread. That was quite an education. Not everyone can do this.

I try to make sure that I attend my hirelings' town hall meetings at the various levels of government and contribute where I can. I typically support individual candidates of demonstrated conservative record--typically bloodied in battle (monetarily speaking, as well as little notes of citizen's encouragement), over a national or state organization (particularly when they compromise their otherwise conservative principles to try to be all inclusive [of socialist platform elements no less]).

This Forum has been a significant education as to what a conservative is, keeping me sharpened during my feedback times with my hireling reps and leaders. Still learning, and practicing.

I agree Greg, this forum has been valuable as a learning source and a place to find folks with the same or similar ideals. I know I have become more active, Obama has helped too. He makes me so frustrated that I am willing to do a lot more to get his butt out of the WH!! The year 2012 can't come soon enough for me. I'm going to start working on a GOP candidate to take out Patty Murray next year.

GO SEAN SALAZAR!!

My Man, indeed so, let's not only gear up for 2012, but 2010, and for us Virginians, and New Jersey, go for next month! And the governor we respectively hire, hold him to our fire of conservative feedback accountability, while simultaneously giving him encouragement for conservative leadership. And that goes for the state hireling reps as well.
