<span style='color:blue'>THE WEEK IN A NUTSHELL!</span>
"Former Iraqi Gen. Sultan Hashim Ahmad, defense minister under Saddam's Ba'athist regime, surrendered yesterday to Maj. Gen. David Petraeus, commander of the 101st Airborne Division. After weeks of negotiations, Ahmad turned himself in on the condition that his name be removed from the U.S. military's "55 most-wanted" list, meaning he will not be subject to indefinite confinement and will possibly be shielded from prosecution." ~ The Federalist (http://federalist.com/pub/03-38_Digest.htm)
"The latest UN draft resolution for assistance in the reconstruction of Iraq employs the precise language and rationale used by the French themselves to justify their incursion into the Ivory Coast earlier this year, according to the UNSC resolution they obtained for the purpose. If the French reject this, their anti-Americanism will be laid barer than it already is, and Franco-American relations will have reached yet another historic low." ~ The Federalist (http://federalist.com/pub/03-38_Digest.htm)

Wesley Clark threw his hat in the "dwarf" ring Thursday and announced he will be running for President. Our esteemed "servants of the people" bailed out of Washington Thursday, fleeing for their lives from hurricane Isabel, http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif which only cost the taxpayers about $130 million. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif Guess if you break it down it only amounts to about 50 cents for every man, woman and child in the country, so I guess it could be worse. Morning all!
We keep hearing about the Democrats and their cries of the "Vietnamization" of Iraq...Well now that we know hoew they would handle it, it seems that this WOULD be true were they in charge. Their "exit strategy" would be to abandon the people of Iraq to civil war by pulling our troops out and allowing the inefficient UN to take control. What message would this send to the terrorists? What message would this send to our brave soldiers? This would then be very similar to Vietnam in that we pulled out, tails b/w our legs, before the mission was accomplished. Thus, the military again would have the sense that it was all for nothing, the terrorists would become emboldened, and our country would NOT be safer as a result.
Seems the Democratic Surrender Monkies are attempting to creat their own self-fulfilling prophecy...
No Thanks. I prefer we stay the course, show the world that America has resolve, courage, and is not to be messed with.
Those are the two choices the American public has...Which will win out in 2004?

Quote[/b] ]Seems the Democratic Surrender Monkies are attempting to creat their own self-fulfilling prophecy...
Couldn't agree more. The hub and I were just discussing this. If the Dems were to get back in power they would undo everything that Bush has worked so hard to do to not only protect us here in this country, but they would allow terrorism to proliferate worldwide just like they did the last time around. 9/11 meant no more to them than the attack on the WTC in 1993 or any number of other attacks all over the world that went unanswered or feebly responded to. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif The terrorist "sleeper" cells that are in this country would be just that much closer to implementing our destruction instead of being rounded up. Do the Dims think that after 9/11 that the terrorist would just go quietly away? That they would be satisfied and stop planning for more destruction? That terrorism hasn't be building for years and years? They are so preoccupied with slinging mud and grabbing power to protect their http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif ish plans to keep us on the road to socialism they would sacrifice ten WTC's to accomplish what they want. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/fire.gif

Good morning all.
Quote[/b] ]and people couldn't figure out which side to spit on.
I have three of them stuck to my butt. *I thought that they must be little tiny TP.
Refer to tomorrow for the questions to these answers:
Quote[/b] ]Cornyn, the new boy & Hutchison is also pretty fresh. *My representative is the insane RINO, Ron Paul and I will be running against him as a dem.
My name depicts a significant water way strewn with giant boulders
I have two daughters; *Rocky Shoals is only 250 years old and *Thunder Falls is much older.
Praise Allah, kill America.
I spend way too much time on line and it is hard to say how many people are real friends, but I blame myself, a lot of people have trouble when they come to the rapids. * This is the first site where civility and reason rules the day so my past surfing experiences have left my surf board broken as I have pounded it to pieces trying to ride this wave of conservatism over and around the liberal obstacles that guard the beach.
I’m organized, but the terrain I have to navigate is not, so there can be erosion as I head to the sea.
The most frivolous thing I have purchased - - - *- I’ll have to insert something my wife purchased and it will be something that she buys today, *she is GSing with her mother and sisters as we speak. *She will buy a rusty washer if it is a bargain.
If I was invisible for a day? *Well I’m not dead so the GLR seems like a good idea but my civic duty would prevail and if my knife was also invisible I would give a few hair cuts. TK could use a trim.
I think WC will last only a few weeks before his true colors explode in someone’s face and his close association with the Clinton Gang will hurt Hillary. * That will leave Dean as the favorite to win the Special Olympics. *This is a 440 and they are just a ways down the back stretch. *Dean's little legs are churning as he looks over his shoulder between every step. *Some of the others surge forward but none of them have the stamina to take the lead. *But if you look back to the starting line you will see that Sharpton has backed up several steps and will race ahead at the last minute to cross first. *The camera will show him ahead and the 9th circuit will award him the Gold Medal. *Which will kill MB’s discrimination suite.
I can only hope that the 9th will let the election go ahead on time in CA. *If not, there will be a giant train wreck in March when they try to run the recall on the same track as the primary.
I have always known that the French are not only sluts but cheap ones at that. *My Dad liked girls but he didn’t like French girls. *I don’t expect that we will ever get back to the misguided opinion of them that our liberal cousins have promoted over the years. *What does having to hire a “Foreign Legion” mean about the courage of French citizens?
Quote[/b] ] *I prefer we stay the course
A agree J44. *We can’t let the terrorists have Iraq.

Good Morning All: And a good morning it is - I got a call from the power company at 10pm wanting to know if my power was back on. I told them that I was the last customer on the line and no it wasn't on - he said they would get right on it - at 2:30am the power came on. I spent the next 30 minutes shutting down the generator, closing windows, and turning down the A/C - it was 81 degrees in the house. I never had A/C until 1963 and now I wonder how I ever did without it. Without it I was miserable and the dogs were a mess. Now I have about two days of work to try and get the house and yard back in order.
Jon, signed the letter to the sponsors - good work.
Maybe I was lucky being out of touch - didn't have to hear Kennedy and some of the other liberal, Bush haters. Guess it would be nice to spend some time on a deserted island just to get away from all the liberal lies - but I would have to have my A/C.
Since I don't have to steal the power cable from the freezer I think I'll peruse the rest of the forum. Have a great day and if I don't wear out from all the work I have, I'll see you later.

[QUOTE]
I was fortunate enough that I got to see President Reagan when I was a Jr. in high school. Our Honor Society raised enough money that we were able to go to D.C. and there was a local gal that worked at the White House as an aide, and she got us right up there close to him. He was meeting with French President Mitterand on the front lawn, and we were just to his left. Bunches of Senators and Congressmen were in front of us, and the media behind us. Jimmy Stuart and Olivia d Haviland walked right in front of us. I was SO excited I was just taking picture after picture. I couldn't see very well because one Senator in front of me was pretty tall, but he asked if I wanted him to take some pictures for me....
It was an event in my life that I will NEVER forget, and President Reagan was and still is my favorite President to date. I will http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bawl.gif when he passes away. He was truly an honest and sincere man.
I saw on John Gibson yesterday that these two fellas from California have a beer named "Monkey Butt Beer", or something like that....that should be the official Democratic Beer! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lol.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif
Who was it that said yesterday that they are going to a Kansas concert? Can't remember...anyway, I'm jealous! I LOVE Kansas, they were/are one of my favorite bands. In fact, I just bought a Kansas cd for my husband for his birthday...a Kansas cd, and an ABBA cd. We love all of that great old music from the 70's and 80's. The best music ever in my opinion.
I'm having a real hard time with this new music today. I can handle some of it like Evanessence, and that type of music, but the rap music is just more than I can stomach. My 9 yr old son seems to think it is pretty great. So, the other day we were listening to the radio and he liked this rap song that was on. I wanted to change the channel but he insisted on listening to it. So I figured ok, I'll listen to it and see if the lyrics are decent. Well, it took me a couple of minutes of listening to it and really trying to make out what the guy was saying and I realized that he was using the word sh!t in the main chorus. I switched the channel and told my son he couldn't listen to that kind of music. I said with all of the different kinds of music, and much of it decent and good to listen to, he wasn't going to listen to that cr@p. I told him if he wants to listen to rap, he can listen to Will Smith rap, or Christian rap...that's it! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ugh.gif
The French: http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsdown.gif Can't stand them!
I'm wondering why Britain sided in with the Germans and the French on this deal with Iran? What's up with them?
Well, I'll answer trivia tomorrow sometime, unless I get some time today. It's going to be a busy day though....
Have a great weekend everybody!

Hi Group!! and a good group you are!
Warmed up a little here but got down in the 40s last night so winter is a-coomin' in, sing hi, sing ho, and a hey nonny nonny! There, that's my madrigal for today whether you wanted it or not.
Going out for dinner and a show (the son's quartet is in it) tonight, thank you very much. First time in about 15 years. The Hub would rather always eat at home. And I like to shove red hot splinters under my fingernails. So what?
Almost ended up in Rochester N.Y. trying to get to Rochester MN next month. Very interesting. At least they're not going to charge us the $20 cancellation fee and also found us another motel in Minnesota even cheaper that's within walking distance of the Civic Center. They were very kind and then tried to sell me some kind of a traveler's plan. Ye gads! My travel trailer would miss me!
Time to go get spiffed up. It takes longer and longer these days. In a couple of years I'll have to give myself 24 hours notice in the bathroom!
Keep the homefires burning while I'm out on the tiles, please.

You got that right, flowerpower. At the time I thought he was ok ~ a southern Christian and all that. But it all went down hill rapidly and it's hard for me to really think of most Democrats being Christian when most of them are pro choice. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif

Denise ~ I think it was Floridaguy. Evening All: They never tried to send me to the wrong place, but years ago when I would call home to Northfork, WV the operator would always come back and say there was no such number in Norfolk, VA. After a short explanation I would get the right number.
This has been one busy day - the outside is all cleaned up and the truck has had all the leaves washed off. The generators drained and put back in storage. Tomorrow I have the inside of the house to clean and wash the VW. Other than that theres nothing that a cleaning service and two weeks wouldn't cure.
Since this place is so slow today and since I'm worn out from work, I think I'll go drink my Grape Juice - found out that it lowers blood pressure. Since I started it has lowered my top number by about 15 points and the lower number has gone down about 8 points. Its Concord juice and I found out about it in the AARP magazine. Funny that grape juice is a partial cure for Dimocratic Liberal lies.
Have a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow.

Gosh, I just love being a Hurricane *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/football.gif fan. Hi Y'all! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif Somewhat quiet in the Precinct today. Had a busy day, with a great finish. Check out my football results commentary from today in the Culture thread. #2 is still #2, but lots of other upsets. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Sold popcorn in the 'hood, and at the church today. Both boys are getting close to $1000, their goal. Jakob had a birthday party today, with Meryl (one of his friends). Had a killer turnout at the Sarasota Brewing Company tonight, with great raffle prizes and lots of Canes fans. Meryl and I went with Jakob this morning to hear a childrens' book reading at a Barnes & Nobles near us, and met my sister and nephew there. Even had great http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cup.gif today. Just a fantastic day all around. .....Most of Clinton’s national-security sections stressed his utopian devotion to treaties – chemical weapons conventions, comprehensive nuclear test bans – though these never stopped Saddam. In 1996, Clinton claimed "As we remember what happened in the Japanese subway [a sarin gas attack], we can outlaw poison gas forever – if the Senate ratifies the Chemical Weapons Convention this year."....
In stark contrast to the last president, George W. Bush took an enormous political risk and put an end to Saddam Hussein’s world-defying attempts to built weapons of mass destruction, and liberated Iraq from decades of tyranny. He put American soldiers in harm’s way for one of the most impressive military victories in history. For this, his honesty and character are questioned daily by the same media elite who found questions about Bill Clinton’s military honesty "unthinkable." How sickening.</span></span></span>

*I am going to respond to this comment by a 78 year old wannabe Harry Kissinger/negotiator. *Did I add senility to that list? *This is a sore spot with me because carter negotiated the Peace Accord of '79--and he never solved anything. *Palestine was never addressed.

you have to understand the british frame of mind. *This is a country that lives in two parallels. *The monarchy, with all it's pomp and circumstance and te democracy with Tony Blair at the helm. *This is a country that taxes one rate for ownership of color tv's, and another for black and white ones, and drives around in trucks with antenna to see if you are compliant; where 'fancy dress' parties are merely costume parties; where the milk is delivered to your door, and the coal man literally drops big bags of coal from his flatbed truck at your doorstep every week; where if you want to join the military, you have to pay to join-or is it pay to get out-can't remember which was what me mates told me; AND MANY MORE idiosyncracies. *so spam fines don't surprise me.
