I wrote this a few weeks ago and sent it out to my email base. Thought I'd post it her for your interest.
Why Hillary Will Run.
I have been asked for my opinion on this subject and due to this demand, I am happy to explain why Hillary Clinton WILL run for president in 2004.
There is no secret that the smartest woman in the world aspires to the most powerful job in the world. Half of me wants to see her in the seat so that she can show that at least one Clinton can not totally screw up a country all by oneself. Oh, sorry, too late, she did that already when she and her significant-impeached and disbarred were president in the last decade.
That aside her comments to the contrary that she will run are disingenuous at best and mendacious at worst, but that is what we have come to expect from this dynasty of one. She claims that she will not run because of such a stellar cast already running for their party’s nomination, (More on this bunch later.) But she has not ruled out a run in 2008.
This can mean only one of two things. The first is that she is sure that Bush and Co. will triumph in 2004 and this will give her leverage for a run in the following cycle. The other is that should a Dem run that she would consider running against him/her in 2008. Both show the respect that she has for her party.
Should she run in 2004 this would also mean that she has, once again, lied to the electorate. She promised the voters of New York when she was running senator that she would fulfill her term and not abandon her “state” (her state, via Illinois and Arkansas) to run for another office. And we know how much the Clinton’s esteem and embrace veracity!
On the other hand, she may actually be keeping her word at the same time (that will depend on what does the word “word” mean, I think). She can run for president by not abandoning her state as she has already done so, ergo, she is no longer beholden to an oath as she has already broken it.
Think about it, where was she on and after 9/11? How much time has she spent in New York since her book was published? The unemployment in New York is among the highest in the nation. And as recently as the 4th of July, she has shown her true colors.
While most American’s were at home celebrating our nations birthday, Ms. Clinton was off in Merry Olde England completing her paper route. As if eschewing the obvious patriotic necessity of being in one’s own country she made hasty tracks to the land of Churchill. Now, this was particularly bad timing as there were many parades celebrating not only our independence but recognizing the efforts and sacrifices of our brave men and women in Iraq, Afghanistan and other trouble spots in the world. This was also particularly bad geography as she was in the country from whom we won our independence. (At least that is what I read in my history books, I am not sure if it is worthy of a mention in today’s.) But, perhaps most egregious of all, she had the temerity to go on SKY-TV and virtually demand that their be an inquiry into the actions of this administrations actions vis-à-vis Iraq as they are having in England with PM Blair’s government.
A double whammy, slamming our only true ally in this conflict and suggesting an investigation into our president’s involvement in the war in Iraq shows particular poor taste. (Here is how it works: he is the President, he is the Commander-in-Chief, he is responsible for national security. If he sees a problem and a threat to the safety on our shores, it is his duty to protect all American’s, even those who are out of the country!
But, I digress….
Given that she is genetically incapable of keeping her word, given that she aspires more than anything to be president, given that this crop of candidates are absolutely un-electable and given that she aspires more than anything to be president, it is a given that she will run. Did I mention that she aspires to the presidency more than anything?
For her to do anything else would be counterintuitive to her inner self. Her own website is now listing emails from her “supporters” encouraging her to seek this office. This website previously had an “unofficial” dictum against this run. And, I am sure that absolutely nothing is allowed on this website without her approval.
But, let us take a look at the other pretenders for a moment, shall we? (In no specific order.)
John Kerry: First, he looks french and that alone ought to disqualify him. Second, he is against everything he stands for at different times. Do we really want the Mad Hatter having his finger on the trigger? And lastly, it is his wife’s money, and she is no day at the beach with respect to the issues that we cherish.
Joe Lieberman: Perhaps that only genuine and electable candidate in the bunch. Holds his faith close, is not afraid to buck the democratic machine, voted for Clinton’s impeachment, is kind to his mother. Suffers from the fact that he was previously yoked with one of the least outrageous and courageous presidential candidates of all time, Al Gore. He actually has a chance if he chooses a VP who can deliver a few big states and avoids any contact with the rest of this Joe Franklin panel of losers.
Al Sharpton: Here is a man with a message, and the message is “I am outraged”. Let’s face it, the man is always outraged about something and candidly, it is nothing that anybody else is outraged about except the chosen few who contribute to this outrageously out-of-work preacher. I would also call to mind his bad luck in the area of fires. It seems that every time there is an investigation into his finances or other investigation-worth activities, there is a fire in his office. I do not know about you, but I fear for the Library of Congress should he get elected. At least the honorable junior senator has the perspicacity to lose or claim as never having existed that which is subpoenaed. And bedsides, when we vote for a person based on his or her record it should not be their criminal record.
Howard Dean: OK, he has watched one too many episodes of “The West Wing”. Sorry, Howie, we are not ready to have the members of “Phish” and Ben and/or Jerry in the cabinet. Sure, he has a lot of initial support but it is mostly from the college-aged crowd. (We know how successful college-age people are in getting their point across in the democratic process. For further information on this matter, I refer you to the ‘60’s, particularly Columbia University, Chicago Riots, Berkeley Riots, Kent State, etc..) His support has come mainly from the internet and other areas where one does not have to get off one’s duff to appear to be doing something (I speak from experience!). And, do you really want to hear an inauguration speech in ASCII?
Bob Graham: Old Bob has been out in the sun too long. His thoughts on what is happening in America are a wee bit outdated. His persistent daily journals are becoming a distraction to even his most avid supporters. Oh, Bob, Lindbergh made it, write it down.
Dennis Kushnich: What can be said about this man’s qualifications that has not already been said. About the same as his qualifications, nothing. Next.
Carol Moseley-Brown: First, I hate hyphenated names. Second, she is a bigot of the first degree. Third, she is from Chicago, a known bastion of the epitome of ethics in politics (a few redundancies and oxymorons in that statement!) She has two chances, slim and none, and Slim just left town. Really, do we need our president to be as divisive and hateful as this woman? Her only true running mate would be David Duke.
Dick Gephardt: He can’t get anything done in the senate now, what makes him think that he will do any better if elected and particularly with an party opposite in the chairs. This alone is enough to disqualify him, but there are a plethora of other reasons. This is the open book part of the test, you can look them up on your own.
John Edwards: I refer you to the statements made about the honorable representative from the great state of Ohio. He does have a lot going for him and someday he may be ready for the national stage. If the goal for this election is anything more than gaining exposure and experience, he is delusional.
So, Lady McClinton and the witches three will do their best to simultaneously support and pick-off the other democrats one at a time. The sad thing is that for any democrat to have a chance, real or imagined, the country must go to hell in a handbag. The economy must continue to flag, we must lose more lives in Iraq without any tangible successes, another area of foment must arise to allow the naysayers to have a forum to say nay and basically, President Bush has to be caught in flagrant delicto with an underage, alien Border Collie. (Actually, was not the previous president in a not-to-dissimilar situation? And, what is your definition of “collie”.)
Like the kid waiting for Christmas (can I still say “Christmas”?), she is fine waiting in August and September but the closer she gets to the big day, you know she is going through the attic and ever-so-gingerly opening her gifts.
With the first round of debates looming and soon the primaries in full, I can assure you that Ms. Clinton is inching up the attic steps. She is incapable of standing by and watching someone else get ahead of her on line. If they were giving out free communicable diseases she be first on line and with respect to the cure, would see it as an opportunity to get first licks on two lines! And, she would trip someone to get to the head of the lines.
Her moral rectitude is beyond reproach, in fact it can not even be found! Here is a woman who must succeed at any cost. This is the woman who aspires to the highest seat in the land who almost controlled one-seventh of the nations economy by fiat. This is the woman who, along with unindicted co-conspirator Bernie Nusbaum, drafted the articles of impeachment documents against Richard Nixon. This is the woman who promulgated the theory of the “vast right-wing conspiracy”, a conspiracy that she now claims as never being extant. But wait, it will resurface as a phoenix as will her denials that she ever said or did not say anything about it. Here is a woman who will do whatever it takes and at any cost to others to achieve her goals.
Sit back and enjoy the melee. Sit back and watch the others drop to the side of the road and then beg to carry her water as she snipes at the remaining candidacies from the airwaves and by subterfuge. Sit back and relish the moment when she is drafted and feigns mock surprise as she gushes “ who, me, for president, no, really, I can’t, this is such a surprise, I mean, really, no…”
She will run, she will lose and she will not go quietly into the night.
On a sinister note, it would almost be worth watching the country go down in flames just to watch what she does to poor, ol’ Bill. Could you imagine if he were to ever utter the words “we are the president?” I am sure that she would deliver a boot-in-the-groin of epic proportions.
Nah, I take it back, she will do that to him just for drill.
