AngelsRWorldChamps, you have hit a hot button for me. The firearm that the left paints as an agent of Satan is nothing more than a power tool designed to meet a specific need. By no means autonomus, it requires a human being to oporate it.
For forty years the DSA'S have whined that guns are evil and should not be owned by private citizens(peasants), while surrounding themselves with armed gaurds.
But if someone actually has the termarity to suggest putting a felon behind bars for illeagally pocessing a gun that person is a bigoted racisist homophobic nazi stormtrooper.
I assure you, the gangbangers that shot up this school yard will be defended by the same youhoo's that want to use the event as an excuse to confiscate lawfully owned firearms.

Guns are not dangerous. It's the people that are becoming more dangerous.

CLICK HERE and scroll down to the chart. (http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcgvacci .html)

You'll see that Automobile accidents, falls, poisonsing by solids and liquids, pedestrian, drownings, fires and burns, and suffocation by ingested objects are more likey to kill you than a firearm.

The only accidents that guns kill more people yearly are poisining by gases and vapors, and "all other" causes.

And the truth will set you free!

I have to admit this was the one issue more than any other that detached me completely from the Democrats. I used to give them the benefit of the doubt at least half the time, but when Gore started to call for Liscensing Guns in the 2000 election I started treating the party with near constant doubt.

I think this one issue, more than any other, points out the difference in how liberals and conservatives view the concept of "Freedom". Liberals tend to see it as "Personal Liscence" whereas tend to see it as "Independence". The 2nd amendment wasn't put in the constitution because of bears and indians - it was put there to empower people and serve as a natural check against the power of the government.

Once you liscence something it is no longer a right. Taking away guns makes people "Dependent" on the police and the military for protection - not the type of country I want to live in.

And of course the absurd element of it all are the statistics. They will carry on all day long about guns and cigarrettes, but won't say word one about CARS (the number one killer by an astronomical number).

Lol! Am I wrong or do more people die in car accidents every year than so far have died in the war in Afghanistan and Iraq??

It can only mean they care less about "Life" and more about some sad, hopeless dream of creating socialist utopia where we all "Depend" on each other and no one is Independent.

Kinda like the BORG on Star Trek!
