:flag17: Welcome to :gopusa:

Good morning! Are you all ready for a 3 day weekend? :)

Dick Cheney is my hero. He went out there yesterday and kicked Obama directly in his gonads as hard as he could.

Cheney's speech had been scheduled for weeks. Obama delayed his speech by 28 minutes in an attempt to preempt Cheney, and then went on and on, but Cheney just waited until he finished. :D Obviously, the Obama administration is worried about the Cheney effect.

Obama delivered a campaign speech. Cheney's was substance from beginning to end.

If conservatives really want a pattern to counter Democrats, there it is. Tell the plain, unvarnished truth and tell it strongly. Speak to issues, say what's wrong with the opposition and what's right about our policies. No need to call names, just be informed and have the courage of their convictions.

GOP House members managed to get a vote on a resolution to have Nancy Pelosi's CIA comments investigated. Naturally, they couldn't pass it because their numbers are too few but there were two Republicans who voted with the Democrats to protect Pelosi. Their names should be remembered. :fire: They are Walter Jones of NC and Ron Paul of TX.

Speaking of names, Obama’s teleprompter didn’t know Robert Gates' name yesterday.* It called him William Gates. Bad teleprompter! Bad! :hit:

Glenn Beck reported that the groups for the California amendments spent more than 3 times as much as those against them. It’s good that California voters voted against those tax raises but why do they vote in Feinstein and Pelosi? Whoops, Beck just told me. 77% of California voters didn’t vote. Ok, I get it now. The dumb ones stayed home this time.

Quote of the day "It is laughable to suggest that Guantanamo is a meaningful aid in terrorist recruiting. Before Guantanamo came the first bombing of the World Trade Center, the bombing at Riyadh, the attacks on Khobar, the bombing of our embassies, the Cole. There will always be rallying cries for recruitment whether it is the existence of Israel or the freedoms enjoyed by Americans. Appeasement has not ever, does not now, and will never satisfy a foe who looks to destroy freedom and rule the world." ~ Mitt Romney

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -- Daniel Webster (1782-1852)

It called him William Gates.
Could it be that Obama wanted Bill Gates to serve as Sec. of Defense?

Good morning everyone. Another nice day in Vermont. That is the only good thing I can say about Vermont.

Holiday weekend. Folks this isn't about cook outs and a day off. Please remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Ben, we here at GOPUSA have always honored our military and our veterans and we will continue to do so.

I've seen our members honor your individual service many times and I thank you for it now.

Yes, it's the legal observance of Memorial Day and we will definitely observe it. At the same time I hope we can still refer to a 3 day weekend without being considered offensive. Offending was not my intention.

What? My comment wasn't aimed at anyone particular and certainly not at members. I had in mind the general population and all that read these posts.

A couple of years ago I stopped at a bank on Veterans Day to use the ATM and someone stopped to go into the bank. This person got angry and wondered why the bank was closed. I told him "It's Veterans Day." He left a good deal of tire rubber on the parking lot on his way out. So do you see how the general population is lacking in respect?

Cool, rainy day in Paradise...

Kid and I need to get moving on our move to another abode. NEITHER of us is having an easy time of this. We're moving into digs 1/4 of what we have here and that's pretty much how much we have to get rid of, 3/4 of our stuff. And do we have STUFF! I don't have many clothes, but my "pretties," quite a bit. The OG removed the most valuable and that which meant the most, but I still have some favorites left. I may have to rent a storage unit, but that defeats the purpose of moving...fewer expenses. yuck. I hate moving.

Ben, I hear ya on the Vet's thing. Schools used to teach patriotism, and tell kids why we have Memorial Day, so did parents. EVERY time there is something to honor vets, I have to remind my kids...long history of service to our country on my side of the family. Even tho the OG was of only two, on both sides of his family, ALL need to be honored and thanked. Their freedom to disagree with our government, their freedom to vote, eat what they want, even to have something to eat, wear what they like, and so on, came from the blood spilled on the battle fields, and those who supported the dead and wounded. sigh. It's not an easy task when the schools are so liberal that they teach kids the USA is nothing but blood thirsty Imperialists, and socialism is the cure for all ills, including the sickness called self-sufficiency.

It called him William Gates. Is it obvious that mr. o doesn't even read his speeches before hand? Can't WAIT til he reads out loud, his prompts on what to do while he's saying this nonsense. I can just hear it now, "And so, my Fellow Americans, look around solemnly, tilt my chin to the heavens, wait until NOW, and start reading again..." News directors in radio (and tv, sometimes) have a tendency to do what's called, "rip and read," that is...not read what yer gonna say, before ya say it on air. Same with "live endorsements." One old trick station managers do, is hand the news director something, "get it on the air, NOW," and the ND will run to the mic and say breathlessly, "This just in, my toupee flew off in the tornado heading to Timbuctoo," or some other some such nonsense.

Obviously, the Obama administration is worried about the Cheney effect. They oughtta be...if we get hit again with terrorism, heads will roll, and Cheney and Bush will be in the cat bird seats.

They are Walter Jones of NC and Ron Paul of TX. THE Ron Paul? The anti-government Ron Paul? Stick that in yer pipes and smoke it, PaulBearers.

a little pollution, then off to make some serious decisions, I'll check in and out...

Good morning everyone!

Yesterday was Hubby's 73rd birthday, so I surprised him by taking him out to a restaurant he's been wanting to go to for months. My sister and BIL met us there as part of the surprise. We dined for over 3 hours, getting home about 9:30pm so :boy: ended up sleeping down to daddy's for the second night in a row.

We'll be going camping this weekend, but returning home so both :tails: and :boy: can march in one of the Memorial Day parades. The one we have them march in honors the vets best in my opinion. The parade itself is short, perhaps 50 feet from an old schoolhouse down the street to a small cemetary that's been there since the town was founded so it spans all the wars and conflicts. It's a small parade with no marching bands, but lots of flags.

What makes it so meaningful is that every vet buried in that cemetary is mentioned by name and a little history is given about each of them. Then, if any vets died during the past year, a short bio is given of their lives and service to our country. At the end of the ceremony, the sorrowful sound of taps are played by two buglers that are off in the distance. There aren't too many dry eyes when the ceremony ends.

I don't watch Jon Stewart, but this morning, F&F's had a clip from his show. The clip showed bho giving parts of his speech yesterday and GWB giving the same speech during his presidency. A lot of libs get their news from Jon Stewart, so maybe some will wake up to this snake oil salesman they voted for.

I don't expect we'll hear much about bho plagiarizing GWB's speech from the MSM; they will protect him.

TAPS
Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.
Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

I will be gathering with my VFW Comrades at one of the local cemetaries in a wee bit to put up flags. We have 100 large 5' X 8' ones on 12' poles which we line the roads with and thousands which go on the graves themselves.

There are events scheduled for both Sunday and Monday.

I know about the junk some teachers put on the young people concerning history. I do what I can to counter that. Keep in mind though that in the "History Hall" of a school there may be four or five different versions of the same events being taught simultaneously in varying degrees on the liberal/conservative scale.

I will do what I can.

Dan

It called him William Gates. It is obvious by now that the Lyin' King DOES NOT read his speeches beforehand, but just reads them off the teleprompter. The supercilious way he delivers his "readings" are like a WONDERFUL quote from Mark Steyn that I shall try to quote from memory, with his uplifted chin and eyes darting back and forth he looks like an emaciatied Mussolini judging a Wimboldon match :laff:

Good one. I understand Mussolini was also very popular and loved in his early days, too.

Rush played some clips from an interview between Liz Cheney and some libs (don't remember who they were). She is one hot interviewee -- extremely cool and calm, not to mention knowledgeable. What a candidate she would make!

We are not alone...It's fine folks, Freedom-loving Americans, like all of you that take care of themselves, that make up the heart and soul of this Federal Republic. We all need to be ready for July 4th, and to show the nation that grass roots Americans feed the nation with everything they need to exist. Independence is a virtue, and should be a characteristic that shines like a beacon across the planet.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.

Late in yesterday's precinct thread I mentioned hearing something in Obama's speech that sent chills and struck me as something we need to follow up on. I couldn't remember the exact words, but the following clip from Rachel Maddow reminded me (evidently these words concern her too):

He wants to establish an "appropriate legal regime" to "indefinitely detain" those who may propose a future threat the our country.

Here's the entire clip, the portion I am referencing is between 5 and 6 minutes.

I'll post out in the Forum, too.

My GOD! That's what the Writ of Habeus Corpus is supposed to be all about. Nearly THE FIRST thing in the Constitution even BEFORE the Bill of Rights. I am stunned.

And of course, the ACLU does nothing.

Man I am sore, I will be paying for all the time I spent outside dividing and planting dahlias. I started this morning taking a little time off to get a quick lunch and a quick peak in here then back out I went. I work again until around 7:00 this evening, My extra long flowerbed is nearly done.
My next days off will not be until Tuesday and Wednesday, hopefully I will get it done as well as a good start on the last flowerbed.

One of my email friends after viewing the youtube, said that the new laws were just for the terrorists.
Here was my reply:

That is exactly WHY President Bush, in his wisdom, housed the terrorist scum at GITMO! To keep them away from American soil, where the Constitution did not apply, to prevent this very thing from being an issue.
By closing Gitmo, bringing the terrorists HERE, and then enacting THESE anti-Constitutional laws, BHO puts us ALL at risk of unconstitutional indefinite detention.

The people that the Lyin King might want to "detain" could be the same people that the Dept of Homeland Security determined to be "Right Wing Extremists."

Don't ya'll feel so special now?

This guy gets worse and worse!
