Welcome to the :gopusa: Precinct!
5.0 Earthquake in LA around 8:40 PDT
So Obama spoke at Notre Dame--interesting talk surrounding that. I find it encouraging that the one's who are pro-life ALWAYS sound more rational. And this amuses me--the one's supporting "the one" going to ND always reveal in some way that their politics trumps their principles. A typical liberal stance. Their arguments are SO WEAK, pathetic really.
How about that Joe Biden who leaked blabbed the location of his secret bunker. Hmm, your secret is no secret anymore :cdmusic: Once again, the loonies are running the asylum.
PAKISTAN SEEN RAPIDLY ADDING NUCLEAR ARMS...USA Has Plan to Secure if Country Falls to Taliban--hope that's true. They don't even know what to do with the terrorists they have!!
CHINA 'READY TO JOIN USA AS WORLD POWER'
:str:
Netanyahu IN USA...'Won't back Palestinian state'
They say almost 9 million people watched the Farah Fawcette special on NBC chronicling her cancer and last days--I didn't watch it, not something I'd care to know the details of. I'm sort of of the mind that you lose too much dignity when publicizing certain private areas of life.
OK--Have a great day everybody!

Good morning everyone. :wavey:
I placed cherry danishes in the lounge.
I read about Obama. He makes me sick. :barf:
I declare we are send letters and e-mails to the University of Notre Dame. ND should not have allowed Obama speak at the ceremonies.
Also, the priest should not have been arrested. This priest should receive credit.
I believe it is going to take another terrorists attack to get country back on track.
We need to be sure we with our local Republican parties for next year's election. We need to retain both houses of Congress.

I agree. Congress makes me sick as well. They are busy "Wagging the dog" instead of doing the things we sent them to Washington to do. I am angry about Gitmo too. There is no reason to close a facility simply because Obama wants to. So far this administration has done nothing that I agree to.

The Obama Administration has not declared where they will place these terrorists from GITMO. I believe they need to place in Obama's backyard.

Good morning,
I couldn't and didn't watch Obama as he spoke at ND yesterday. I literally got sick to my stomach just watching him walk into the auditorium.
I, personally, have no problem with the President of the United States speaking at the Commencement. What I had the problem with is the Honorary Degree that was awarded to him. I would have preferred that they had not asked him, but he is the POTUS and the Office simply demands that kind of respect. At least that is MHO.
I hope donations to the University go down and they get the message. I heard several people say that the University may lose its status as a "Catholic University".
Had I been a graduating senior I would not have attended and just received my degree by mail, or picked it up in Dean's Office.
I heard nothing about that earthquake. I wonder how much damage was caused.
How about that Joe Biden who leaked blabbed the location of his secret bunker. Hmm, your secret is no secret anymore Once again, the loonies are running the asylum.
Just plain dumb in my book. I think Joe has early Alzheimer's.

I was a Hospice nurse for several years, a position I dearly loved. I could relate some wonderful stories but I think end of life issues belong in private and not broadcast to the world. Now, if she wanted to make a movie or documentary to be edited and shown after her death that had a specific and valuable message that would be different. But people don't need to watch this live as it happens again IMHO.
I feel so bad for the car dealerships that were closed or are closing. So many people out of work. Our Oldsmobile dealership is closing. This dealership has a family name that has been around here forever it seems like. They have been such good community supporters and they will be sorely missed. Joe had bought at least three cars from them, but switched from Olds to Buick a few years back. So far, the Buick dealer seems to be OK.
Have to go start the wash. BBL.

Good morning everyone! Very cloudy, cool morning without a hint of blue sky or :sun1:. Feels more like fall than spring the last day or so.
There will be another Tea Party in Hartford on May 28th. Kids will be in school, but Hubby and I are planning on attending. Gotta put my thinking cap on and come up with a good slogan to put on a sign.
I think ND put their liberalism ahead of their religion by inviting bho to speak. Seems backwards to me. Religion should always be first before politics.
Joe Biden doesn't have the brains he was born with, or... at the very least, doesn't use them. Cheney no longer lives in the VP residence but Biden now does. He has now placed himself and all others that follow him in danger by revealing his own 'safe room'. He's not just a walking gaff machine, he's downright stupid.

No one got hurt, but it was Bush's fault.
I am not a financial wizard ,but I fail to understand how closing dealerships will increase jobs.
I never watch BO and don't think he should be allowed to appear on TV because of the health hazard. It would help if they would install speakers on his teleprompters and eliminate the middle man.
I am waiting for the first Obama voter to step up and admit they made a mistake.
Cloudy day in Paradise..
Had dinner with Joisey last evening. WOW, can he cook! He has an American bulldog that is just hilarious...a yalla cat, too. Both seem to like me. Dawg just goes alll silly when I drive up and won't leave me alone for about an hour after I arrive. Yalla cat guards my car, after greeting me in the drive. He even lets me pet him, he's generally not a friendly beast.
Did NOT want to see ND and Obama. Joisey put the news on briefly, and I told him I'd rather have a double root canal without pain meds before I watched that kwap.
Farah Fawcett is an actress who craves the spotlight to the very end. She would have put time to better use, before she got so bad, campaigning for people to get rectal exams/colonoscopy than fade away in front of the camera's eye.
JJ, I could NOT be a hospice nurse, let alone a regular nurse. It's too emotionally gut wrenching. When B died, the kindness of the staff at hospice was outstanding.
Netanyahu IN USA...'Won't back Palestinian state' I'm with ya, Bibi, but I don't think our government is, so sorry!
Joe, shut up. Too bad the Vice Presidency is back to pre-Cheney days...useless, and just one heart beat away from the Presidency....
The Obama Administration has not declared where they will place these terrorists from GITMO. I believe they need to place in Obama's backyard. I thought the "redneck" voters of John Murtha was going to take them.......what happened to that sweet lil offer? The gubbmint was gonna put them in Murtha's backyard?
OK, on my horse...after a lil pollution here and there...

Monday is now one of my busiest days of the week, so I need to "post and run" as it were. :laff:
I wonder If Alan Keyes and the 80-year old Priest are still languishing in jail as we speak? Maybe instead of freeing the GITMO TERRORISTS, the Telprompter-in-Chief (Lyin' King) should focus on those persons (AMERICAN CITIZENS, WHICH IS PROBABLY MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR HIM!) WHO ARE, as we speak, IN JAIL for merely exercising their FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS of FREEDOM of RELIGION, FREEDOM of SPEECH, FREEDOM of ASSEMBLY, and FREEDOM to PETITION the GUB'MINT to REDRESS their GRIEVANCES.
Oh, and I might add, Alan Keyes and the 80 year old Priest have NOT (to my knowledge) beheaded anyone, rammed boats into any US Navy Vessels, Killed any US Citizens, plotted to fly planes into any buildings in any US Cities, or even discussed doing any of the above.

He may not have been released until he goes before a judge today since this is his second arrest in recent weeks at Notre Dame.
He wanted to be arrested and deliberately went onto campus after being told he would be arrested if he did so.
No, Alan Keyes hasn't beheaded anyone and he definitely has a right to speak. He can even come out for Black reparations again if he wants.
There are always limitations set at protests concerning where protestors may stand, walk, etc. When it's anti-war protestors we think they should abide by the rules. When it's anti-abortion protestors we may think differently.

Woke to more news about another baby being smothered by either its mother or a relative.
They've been calling it co-sleeping for some ridiculous reason or another. Why not call it smothering, which is what it is. All of these people had one thing in common. They had been drinking that night and took the baby either into their bed or on the couch.
Some bleeding hearts are saying, "Oh, those poor things, they just couldn't afford to buy a crib for the baby!" Well, I'm here to tell you, you can put a tiny baby into practically anything and as long as there's some padding and they're warmly covered, they'll be fine.
I've heard of people using dresser drawers, clothes baskets, even heavy cardboard boxes to use as bassinets for very young babies. They can be set right in the middle of the kitchen table if you don't want them on the floor.
So far this has all been black people and of course, a cloud of rhetoric and political correctness has arisen around it so no one will actually confront the problem.
I think some involuntary manslaughter charges would be a good thing to stop this. So far there have been no charges against any of them.
I believe this has been 5 - 6 infants killed within the last 4-5 months.

You are right on this of course. It was trespassing. Is this enforced in both directions? For that matter, is it overlooked equally in both directions. Myself, I would not go to something with the "intention" of getting myself arrested but some choose to. I do not understand how getting myself arrested would further my cause. It's more like throwing away my ability to do what I could have done.
At this point though, Notre Dame might help itself by dropping charges against all. obama made his speech and left. Keyes and the Priest are no threat to anybody now. For that matter, holding them is nothing more than making an example of them by demonstrating to the rest of us, "This is what we will do to you if you stand up to us." The obama regime is also taking this mentality. While Notre Dame is making things difficult for Keyes and the Priest, they are costing themselves in the long run.
Respectfully,

There are always limitations set at protests concerning where protestors may stand, walk, etc. When it's anti-war protestors we think they should abide by the rules. When it's anti-abortion protestors we may think differently.Nope, as someone new to protesting, I agree there should, and actually must be limits on where we can exercise our constitutional rights.
During the AIG bonus protests, protesters were on the lawns of the residences of the executives who received bonuses. These were ACORN activists and they terrorized the families by being right outside their windows.
In my opinion, private property should be off limits for all protesters. The public street or sidewalk is close enough to get the message across, and in most cases, to be heard.
CharieSome bleeding hearts are saying, "Oh, those poor things, they just couldn't afford to buy a crib for the baby! When my first husband ran off leaving me with a 4 month old baby and a second one of the way, I was so poor I thought church mice were rich. When my second son was born, I had no where to put him, so fixed the bottom dresser drawer for his nighttime bed and a wicker clothes basket for daytime so I could bring him with me from room to room.

OK. I am going out on a limb here and will probably get slammed for this, but sometimes I just have to say what I have to say and take the consequences.
There was once a time when my beloved Constitutution stated that Black Americans were only worth three fifths of a human being, and that it was OK to have slaves. People went to jail and even DIED opposing that, and eventually it got changed.
There was a time when it was illegal to translate the Bible into English. William Tyndale did it anyway. He went to jail, and was even burned at the stake for it, but the King James version came out a few years later.
There was a time in Ancient Rome when being a Christian was against the law. People went to Jail for it, and were even fed to the lions. Ancient Rome is gone. Christians still exist.
Martin Luther King knew he would end up in jail if he protested Jim Crow laws. He did it anyway, and guess what. he went to Jail!
Corrie Ten Boom hid Jews in her attic and ended up in ravensbrook because hiding Jews was against the law!
And, darn it, that pesky Allen Keyes with his silly history of sometimes making wild statements in the past, actually stood up for the 50million murdered unborn babies in America and TRESPASSED upon the hallowed grounds of Notre Dame.
I'm SHOCKED, I tell you, SHOCKED!

Keyes knew he would be arrested. He wanted to be arrested. Keyes wants the attention and that's about the only way he can get it these days.
If we had a tinier violin, I'd post it instead.

No, I'm sure it's not enforced equally. For one thing it's enforced mostly by local police departments and they all take a different approach and abide by different laws. Or not, depending on their political slant.
People get arrested deliberately to bring more attention to their cause, or in some cases to themselves.
If Keyes isn't out yet I'm sure he will be as soon as he has his court appearance and posts bail, unless he wants to stay in and hope for more coverage. That's a possibility.
I just can't get very excited over a professional politician getting himself arrested. Ho Hum.
Now, if they start arresting ordinary citizens at tea parties my reaction will be very different.

My questions have been answered very well. Thank you to everybody.
Mary Lou, you are absolutely right about ancient history such as Wycliff, Jim Crow and so forth except that Rome does still exist albeit in a different form. Centurions, Tribunes, Legates and Caesar have been re-titled Priests, Bishops, Cardinals and Pope. This is not an attack on the Catholic Church but rather recognizing a brilliant transformation seemingly for the good. I refuse to slam you. You made a very good point.
I would still covertly do what I know to be the right thing if the evil ones made a law against it just as Paul wrote the letters from prison. Don't you sometimes wonder if the guard who carried the letters from Paul's cell which have become known as the Epistles to the Romans, the Galatians, the Corinthians and so forth had any idea of the "contraband" which he was dispatching out of the jail on Paul's behalf?
I would still protest abortion but would do it in a lawful manner. Keyes could probably have done more good being at the "legal" place rather than being thrown in jail for whatever number of days he has been in there.
On the other hand, perhaps the "legal" place was so very far away that the protest would have been a waste of time. If that were the case, I would find some other way to make my protest. I'm reasonably sure that I could find a way to do it without being arrested.

Mary-Lou, you haven't been slammed. Others have differing opinions and have expressed them.
Let me clarify my tea party comment. If tea party participants break the law they should expect to be arrested. I will be upset if they are denied their right to gather and speak but not if they trespass.
As I understand this Keyes, the priest and the others deliberately broke the law with the intention of getting arrested.
Fine. They got what they wanted.
So, where's the beef?
I didn't complain when nuns were arrested here at an anti-war march. Some of them were quite old. They knew what they were doing.
I believe in freedom of speech and the right to protest. I do not believe that either side of an issue has an absolute right to disrupt others, disrupt traffic in the case of the nuns, or to enter private property.

Hi slick. Good to see you again.
Had my physical and the surgery is good to go. A delicate remark as to how it would be easier on my knee if I lost some weight was made. My BP is up a little, so guess it's time to go back on the Atkins. That'll take care of everything. I have been wallowing in bread of all kinds and guess I've eaten my fill. :laff:
It's still so darned windy. Had a hard time keeping the SUV on the road on the way home. It's fairly warm, but it doesn't seem like it when you're clothes are almost being blown off your body.
Have to get some patriotic decorations done for the cafe. Didn't get them done in time for Armed Forces day, but have to get it done for Memorial Day and then they can stay up through Independence :flag17: Day. :fwork:
Have to edit the installation ceremony somewhat. There are people who aren't on the board who are officers and vice versa and I got a couple of them mixed up. So now, I'm hoping I have it straight because tomorrow night is the installation dinner.
Time to stop sitting and get moving.

You only said that so some yankee on here will ask you what "chitlins" are.
Charie, on your surgery--too bad you don't live closer, so you and my BIL could exchange knee stories. :)
On my sister, as we were conversing on the phone and I was looking up BvVP--you remember the song "I dreamed I had gone to Hillbilly Heaven"--well, the "rocks in the head" was the funny part, the rest was ok. BUT, when I got to the "old age" part, that's when I sobered up and no longer thought it was so funny.
Actually, I did get emotional after hearing that's what it was since I had been so concerned about what it was-she wasn't supposed to see the specialist until next month, but called last week and got in the next day. Since our family doctor couldn't read it and the local neurologist didn't have an opening, I was & I'm sure she was, getting very anxious. I'm so grateful it's only "rocks"!
She's always been there for me, and so many others, I don't know what I'd do without her.
Not sure what to say about Keyes, etc. ML & Terri both make good points. I just wish everyone realized, no matter how liberal, that they were once one of those "blobs" as the libs are wont to say or as most of us like to say, one of those expected babies. For some reason, I never once used the word "fetus" when I was expecting any one of my 6 kids.
Even my 6 yr. old grandson said "we're going to have a baby" and he knows where it presently is. When :pelosi: or algore brag about their grandchildren, do they use the words "this is my new fetus" or "these are my delivered "blobs"? Wouldn't that make sense if they really believe that? Sounds silly, yes, but do they ever think logically?
Oh, dear, I only came in to comment on what Charie & QJ said and, yes, I always talk too much!
Listening to J.C. talk about the possibility of being governor of Ok. He really should run--but, he's considering it from every angle which is a good thing.

When it's anti-war protestors we think they should abide by the rules. When it's anti-abortion protestors we may think differently. They violated the law, so they must accept the consequences. Often, law-breaking protesters are given the opportunity to leave the area, rather than be arrested. However, if they're determined to go to jail, they'll stay.

"Co-sleeping" is becoming more and more popular, unfortunately. My daughter is a member of an on-line group which has a thread debating it. She's pointed out the dangers and, for the most part, is shrugged off by those who think it's some kind of mystical bonding experience. Those who favor it say, "If I thought it was dangerous, I wouldn't do it!" Of course, no one who has accidentally smothered his/her child thought the practice was dangerous, either. My favorite caveat regarding co-sleeping is "don't do it if you're overtired". Come on! What new parents aren't overtired, even if they don't want to admit it?
I went back to work today after being off last week when my mom died. Next weekend, I'll start sorting through Mom's house to see what can be done with everything. She had lived there for 45 years, so there's a lot of stuff. It isn't a large estate, so I hope it won't take too long to get it probated. It's still hard to believe that she's dead. We have quite a few questions, but not many answers.
