:flag17: Welcome to :gopusa:

Good day! :sun1:

Monday was a really, really slooowww news day.

To illustrate how slow, Piper Palin's lemonade stand is in the news because of criticism by Palin enemies.

Rush Limbaugh delivered the unkindest cut of all to Wanda Sykes yesterday. He didn't mention her. No free airtime on EIB's large network of stations. Great decision.

Today we should hear a report on how much sooner Social Security and Medicare are expected to run out of funds since Obama's spending spree began. :str:

Check the forum for scintillating topics. :chatter:

Quote of the day "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge; I mean, of the characters and conduct of their rulers." ~ John Adams

"It is an object of vast magnitude that systems of education should be adopted and pursued which may not only diffuse a knowledge of the sciences but may implant in the minds of the American youth the principles of virtue and of liberty and inspire them with just and liberal ideas of government and with an inviolable attachment to their own country. Good morning everyone. :wavey:

I have a very busy day. I have loads of errands to run. I just called my hair stylist to make an appointment for a desperately needed hair cut. I left a message on her answering machine.

Tomorrow, I will be working 12-6 instead of closing since I have to report to jury duty Thursday morning by 9:30.

I need to ask my fellow Floridians this question.

Who would you like to see running for governor?

Have a great day everyone. :wavey:

Lovely day in Paradise....BUT gonna be another scorcher!

“Does he even know who the f*** I am?” ~ The rude and disgusting Meghan McCain complaining about security at the White House press dinner.

No, but I'm sure someone will find out who you are and let you know. Girl, you are an all-round embarrassment.

Who would you like to see running for governor? Sure wish Jeb could come back, he did a bang-up job. But at this moment...no clue. Hopefully, a REAL Republican. Today it was announced property taxes are gonna increase by 33% in our county. Nice. Property values are going down, our town has the highest foreclosure rate in the country and our unemployment rate is 9%, just a little below Michigan's and taxes are gonna be raised? We need a REAL Republican in office. Our congressman, Mack, is under fire cuz he turned down the "stimulus package." NO amount of reasoning will satisfy the people objecting to Mr. Mack's refusal of funds..

It was to be spent, among other useless, make-work projects, on widening roads that are little traveled, and D.C (meaning mr. o) would choose the no bid contractor to do the work. What does that mean? Prolly a Chicago firm, and will bring down Chicago workers or hire illegals.

Maybe Mr. Mack would be a good governor. BUT, he gets a LOT of flack for being married to Congresswoman Bono, Sonny's widow. WHY does anyone care? He's doing what he can and he's a REAL Republican.

To illustrate how slow, Piper Palin's lemonade stand is in the news because of criticism by Palin enemies. Sad fact of life, but when yer in the public eye, so are yer kids. Once, I got a call from someone, "who do yer kids (they were 6 and 7)think they are? Selling water at .50 cents a cup?" I was horrified. I ran to the balcony, and there they were...they had hauled a card table to the curb, and since I didn't keep Kool-Aid or other such garbage in the house, and they didn't like lemonade, they decided to sell water. I almost died of embarrassment. It was the talk of the town for a week. WHY? Because since we owned the radio stations, we were thought of as wealthy, and the kids shouldn't do anything that involved them getting money from anyone else. They made about 4 dollars before I made them close up shop! All we needed was the hostile newspaper taking pics and putting the "news," on the front page!

later, taters, I'll be watching.

They normally will not pay for glasses - only after eye surgery. Sounds like someone has gotten some bad info.

No kidding DA. They wouldn't even pay for glasses after I had serious eye surgery. They only paid when I had cataract operations. The fact that they even paid for glasses was news to me. With mine, I think I had to pay about $400 more because I got the kind that cuts down on glare at night and they were scratchproof.

Have to go for a chest x-ray this morning and make sure everything is OK in that department before I have my knee scoped.

Another beautiful :sunspin: ny day and a little warmer. One of these days summer will be here.

Did any of you on the west coast of Michigan get frost last night? That's what a Green Bay meteorologist was predicting for your area.

Time to get in the shower and do my clean thing.

Good Morning,

Not much going on in my neck of the woods.

I have all my tests scheduled. Takes forever to get things done but not as bad as what my friend went through in Canada. 19 days as opposed to 6 months in one case and a year in another case.

I have cable internet and my speed is getting to be the pits. I am going to call them today and find out what is going on especially since my fees just went up by 6 bucks a month. Less service and higher costs.

Charie, when are you going to be scoped. I have had it done twice and it takes about ten days to recover unless they have to do some cleaning up or repair work while they are in there. It's not too bad though. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Katy, I haven't really given it much thought as to the Governor's race. I have a sinking feeling that our next Governor will be a Dimwit if Crist does indeed run for the Senate (which he has already announced he is going to do). They are talking about Alex Sink but I know nothing about this individual. Need to do some research. I wish Marcus Rubio had a higher standing. I think he would be better than Crist as a Senator, but then I would have preferred Katherine Harris over "Lost in Space" Nelson. She had a pretty good voting record in the House but I guess many didn't agree with how she ran her campaign.

I think all the NSRC looks at is who can possibly win rather than the best conservative candidate and give no consideration to the fact that the one they choose has liberal leanings. Terri is right on this one, they just don't get it.

Although not too many have said it I still think the Press Dinner was rude and crude, and debases the office of the POTUS.

Oh, and this morning I woke up to the news that social security is running the red long before the 2017 projected date this was supposed to happen.

Good afternoon everyone! It's been a busy morning chasing dust bunnies. They've found so many hiding places it's hard to find them all.

Sent a letter to one of :tails: teachers last night asking for her input and advice. She's memorizing all 50 states, their capitols, and where they belong on the map. She does well at home matching them up randomly, but when tested in school, she gets low passing marks. (The rest of her test scores are okay.)

Her teacher sent a very nice email back saying she'd talk to :tails: today and ask her if she'd like to take these tests privately in the guidance counselor's office so she'd feel more relaxed. I'd e'd another of her teacher's last week about another problem and she was equally as helpful.

The entire school staff goes out of it's way to help every student that needs a little extra help or has a problem, and works very closely with parents and students. This is the perfect school for all children but especially for those who are overcoming difficulties of one kind or another. It reminds me of what schools were like when I was growing up. :)

Horses are happy. We'd closed up one of their pastures and left another closed all winter. Last night, because the main pasture needed a bit of relief, we opened up another one for them. This morning they didn't even get excited about getting their breakfast as they normally do.

Today we should hear a report on how much sooner Social Security and Medicare are expected to run out of funds since Obama's spending spree began. :str:
Now how can that be??? Didn't the Dems assure us everything was fine when GWB wanted to do something about the looming problem? Please don't tell me they lied to us so they could bash GWB.

“Does he even know who the f*** I am?” ~ The rude and disgusting Meghan McCain complaining about security at the White House press dinner. :str:Nice Meghan, really nice! Your mouth needs to be washed out and as important as you think you are, there are some of us who don't agree.

Chariie Crist is running for Senate and has the full support of Senate Republicans who obviously don't get it! :it:I haven't been impressed with him at all so if there's a primary with a conservative, I'll donate to his opponent. In any case, Charie needn't watch his mailbox as far as I'm concerned.

OK, I played the drums for twenty minutes and I think I may have bumped the EKG a little. Otherwise the Doctor is going to get VERY bored looking at my chart. Now I'll go play the bass for a while. That ALWAYS turns me on. :<}

She's memorizing all 50 states, their capitols, and where they belong on the map. That reminds me of when I was in grammar school. We were being tested on the states and their capitals. I was staring out the open window, thinking. The teacher, Mr. Bornstein (who basically couldn't stand me, mostly because of my mother) said, out loud, "Miss F. what are you not looking at your test paper?" Always being the honest kid, I said, "I just can't remember the capital of Maine."

Mr. B said sternly, "SO, you think by staring out of an open window, a gust o' wind will write itself on the test paper?" I looked away from the open window, gave him a small smile, and wrote the correct answer, "Augusta."

Der Alte answered:

They could get new eye glasses each and ever year, even if their eyes remain the same, etc.

I have been on medicare for the past 11 years and they paid for new glasses when I had cataract surgery. They normally will not pay for glasses - only after eye surgery. Sounds like someone has gotten some bad info.
I was going to comment on this yesterday, but figured folks would think I was trying to start an argument. :)

Medicare has never paid for my glasses--but, I only have them for distance-otherwise, no glasses. They also don't pay for dentures.

AND, I do have a walker and told them I didn't really need it--I had a used old-fashioned one-and they ordered it. I was asked the other day if it was over 5 yrs. old and told them the truth-and, I doubt I'll need another one when it is.

My doctor and I discuss what I truly need. He & I agree that unless it's really a necessity, I don't ask for it! The nursing company insisted I needed a blood pressure machine and my doctor has to agree to it--I still don't have it and don't know if I'm going to get it. It wasn't something I asked for.

Yes, the program is abused by unscrupulous people and they don't have to be doctors or nursing companies--just another kind of thiefdom that exists.

Just my :twocents:

hi Candles,

I got too hot and woke up slightly nauseated. The A/C just wasn't coming on often enough.

I got a snack and turned the thermostat down one degree and was able to get back to sleep. Hope you were able to get back to sleep as well.

I promise I was not holding the Sandman captive this time.
