The September issue of American Rifleman has an artical By Chris Cox that is the source of this post.
Democrat Senators are trashing Senate rules and tridition by holding up Judicial Appiontments. The reason they are balling up the works is simple and insidious. They want to stop the appiontment of anyone that will support the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
"Are you a member of the National Rifle Association or its Board of Directors?", this was asked of Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor by Senator Richard Durbin.
Durbin, (Democrat-NY), has a litmus test, any one that beleaves the people have the right to keep and bear arms should be barred from the federal bench, including the Supreme Court. Durbin also belives that anyone who gets in the way of his agenda is expendable. So now he is leading the filibuster against all of George Bush's judicial nominies.
Here are some more quates to shed more light on the issue. They are from the Congressional Record.
"Vote the person, up or down." Dick Durbin 9/28/1998
"Our institutional integrity requires an up-or-down vote" Diane Finestein 10/4/1999
"It is true that some senators have voiced concerns about these nominations. But that should not prevent a roll call vote 'yes or no'....Parties with cases, waiting to be heard by the federal courts, deserve a decision by the Senate." Ted Kennedy 9/21/1999.
What is the difference between then and now? Now the appionttees are not soicialist activists that will legislate from the bench the Liberal agenda. What a buch of hippocrits!

Hi markinthedark ~ http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif and welcome to http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif

You'll find most of us here are big proponents of the 2nd Amendment. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif And I do belong to the NRA.

Hope you don't mind if I move this to Rants. It might even belong in the Firing Line, but I think it sounds like a pretty good rant to me. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

And, please, somebody help me out! We can't get any judges voted in, with a simple majority, the Texas state girly-boys have run and hidden in New Mexico. Do the Dems get to just make up rules, as they go?

How is it that we have control of all three biggies, and meet
resistance, that seemingly can't be overcome with our majorties? I'm missing something. It damn sure ain't the way it works when the Dems have control. What's this problem?

Because the republicans have ethics and don't, as you said, "Make up the rules as we go."

They, the democrats, will bend any rule they can to extort, and obstruct.

Then the funny thing is even main line liberals, like Allen Colmes, talk about how "we" impeach Clinton, and "recall" Davis so "we" are the ones who don't believe in elections and don't follow rules.

rsulhs1, That's the way I've seen it, also. I was wondering if I had missed something. I see you're angered by the some of the same issues as I. Is there a lack of gonads on the Republican side up there? We're getting bullied around, and, with a majority, we let it happen.

Ethics is one thing. But, them getting their way when they're the minority is inexcusable. They need to take care of business. As we all know, here, the leftist laws come form the bench, not from voters. (who needs the consitution). Somebody needs to do a little of the work they were elected to do.

One good thing, is,being from NC, and knowing Edwards presidential hopes are "snowballish", at best. He ain't looking that great for re-election to his Senate slot, either. He may find himself out of work. I guess he can hang out in his $4-mil NC home, or his $2-mil DC home.(he got the dough for these by helping the "regular people" , you know)

But what sucks, here, is even if he only pulls one term, he's up for the absurd life-long benefits these "public-servants"
enjoy. Funny, I don't remember that vote........

Hey Mark! *Welcome to the Forum here! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cowboy7.gif

On Monday I attended a Town Hall Meeting put on by Senator George Allen (R-VA) and he addressed this "Blockade" in the US Senate. *Man was he passionate when he spoke about this issue, it was obvious how angry it made him too. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/banghead.gif

There are several excellent appointees from VA that are being held up. *At least one of them is not 'pro gun' at all, he is however pro-life, so the dimocrats don't like him. *Seems it isn't a specific issue, rather their common sense to support and/or practice the beliefs of the Grand Old Party!! *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rwbelephant.gif

I am going to post about this more, with links to fight this, later. *I'll come back and add the link to that post here later.

We have to get them voting on these folks!!
