Gas stations Valley-wide are running on empty today thanks to dwindling supplies caused by a ruptured fuel line in Tucson two weeks ago.
Drivers are circling neighborhoods to find an open gas station then waiting in long lines once they find it.
A police dispatcher in Peoria said station managers and customers flooded the department's phone lines. Managers reported that cars were lined up 60 deep at the two stations known to be open in the city. Some arguments among customers broke out, but no one was injured, the dispatcher said.

You know, I've got three things to say about this: *
1. *Its a better problem than a blackout. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yelclap.gif
2. *Good thing I heard about the rising prices three days ago and thought ahead enough to fill up both vehicles. *
3. *And while Napolotano is a Democrat (and surprisingly liberal), at least she has focused her energy on a problem facing the people. *Unlike Gray Davis. *
When the news says "Don't rush out and fill up", well, don't wait for the commercial break! * http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

When do they expect the pipeline to be fixed?

Which is why the people of California have stated we dont care who the new Governor just can Gray. The more I hear about the LT Gov the more I think he might try to do. Yes I know he is a Dem but who do the Republican have running to replace Davis.

So you are supporting Bustamente, Mark?
How about starting a thread in Political Buzz and telling us why. This thread is about the gas crisis in AZ.

They're saying between now and at least 2 weeks. We've lost 1/3 of our supply - but funny - it seems like 80% of the gas stations are roped off as empty.
One station right down the street is charging $2.25, which is totally gouging - I'm considering reporting it - that's really crappy. Doesn't matter - people are STILL lining up, believing it to be a smaller line.
Some reports of "gas rage"... http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif Idiots! How spoiled are we that waiting a half hour for gas is justification to physically crack on someone?

Hey, Napolitano is pro-abortion, pro-gay, just about every pro that I'm an anti for. She doesn't return letter for the ones I write. BUT she is actively demanding results for this crisis. In this matter, I was saying she is doing a good job.
It's not often I get to compliment a Democrat. A rare occasion we should all savor. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Funny thing is, down here in Tucson, where our supply is uninterrupted, prices are going up as a result of this, too. I heard rumors that they were going to go up 30-40 cents, to around $2.00, this week. Sounds like the Suburban is staying home this week...

Anyone who raised prices and was price gouging, especially during any local or state crisis, would find their butt in jail fast.

Got a e-mail from one of the YRs in Tempe... $3.97/gallon for unleaded. Highest here in Tucson is around $1.80, which is still up about $0.30 since this mess started, and we're not even affected by it...

Actually, the talk radio circuit is on that one. Apparently, there is no law against price gouging! And its not just the talk radio, we even have the rock and country radio stations giving updates, "gas truck sightings", and the worst gouger updates.
Apparently, Danny's Carousel, a Phoenix car wash/gas station is forcing people to purchase a car wash ($8!) when customers pull up for gas. One guy who waited for 2 hours called up the radio station - apparently, he had a rental car and couldn't care less about washing it! THAT has got to be some kind of bait and switch violation. (Normally, you get a discount if you get the car wash).
We ended up getting gas today, and it only took about 20 minutes. At $2.09, I consider it a bargain. Don't ask me how, because I'm not spilling my secret watering hole! http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Unbelievable. But when this is all over, people WILL remember who the rip-offs were... and they will pay in the long run.
Seriously - like 1 out of 8 stations are open. This is so pathetic. What kills me is the "stockpilers" with their 1,2 and 5 gallon gas cans. I really hope people aren't driving around like that.

Well, I was going to complain that the gas here in "Podunk" FL (my county) http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin2.gif has reached $1.80 for 93 octane. However, it is still cheaper than any of the surrounding counties I've been in. Don't know about FlGuy's county(s) Arcadia & Sarasota ~ but Highlands and Polk counties are much higher, which is amazing since they are much larger counties. And we don't have any "busted" pipelines either. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif They always seem to raise the prices during the summer ~ which really slams a vacation. AZ ~ you may need to see if you can borrow Der Alte's VW for a few weeks. http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif

RIM, Hardee is about the same as Sarasota. DeSoto is higher, because they have a local option tax of .05/gallon. The main reason it is low in Sarasota, is because the business is very competitive. There are gas stations on every corner, and I suspect slightly more than are needed. For example, I see gas stations go out of business all the time, until another chain takes them over. The discount stations are doing a booming business, but I hope the Dept. of Ag & Consumer Services is checking to make sure it isn't watered down or incorrectly labeled regarding octane. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Janet did NOT handle this crisis well...that is until Hayworth stepped in and offered some real advice. Her mantra in front of the cameras was "Relax, take a deep breath, DON'T TURN ON YOUR AIR CONDITIONERS, etc."
If she WAS doing something, she wasn't very vocal about it. She can't handle crisis (WHICH THIS WAS); instead she'd rather create them or exacerbate them.
She acted much quicker to ILLEGALLY change the name of a mountain than she did to help fix this gas "shortage". Makes a person wonder who really DID pay for that rafting trip she went on.....

Just wait until you see what she has in store for us in the next budget showdown...

How much do you wanna bet HER a/c was on the whole time? In Phoenix, in summer, a/c is mandatory...

Was that advice, "Don't unpack your bags, b!+{#, that's gonna be my office soon"?

Is JD still refusing to back Arizona's 187 initiative? *If he won't stand up for the citizens, can't see where he would be much better than Janet. You don't want to become another California, do you?
*Damn! *I usta really like JD!

As far as I know, he still won't back it. I have a feeling (hope, maybe) that, once he's away from DC, he will realize how badly it's affecting the state, and come back to his senses...
I'm still awestruck that our ENTIRE delegation has sold us out like this. I can see McCain and Kolbe twisting in the wind... that's nothing new for them. Renzi owes Bush a few favors from last year's campaign, and Flake and Franks are still fairly new and impressionable. But JD? Well, there may be some hope yet...

I keep in very regular contact with my delegation. *The Jo(h)ns have gotten some seriously nasty letters from me concerning their 180 degree turnaround on immigration related reform. *All along McCain has written that he feels strongly reform needs to take place...and this is what he offers up. *
When I met him last year (at one of his book signings) he hinted at a "guestworker program". *As much as I wanted to speak up, I didn't get the chance - there were well over 100 people in that small bookstore waiting to get his book.
Anyway - I'll keep fighting the good fight with regards to immigration. *Hopefully getting Randy Pullen in the mayor's office (Phoenix) will start some heads rolling; Tancredo is a supporter of Pullen. *The federal government won't do anything; the state won't do anything; he's going to try and attack it at a local level - first and foremost, getting rid of the "day labor centers" and nixing the use of the Matricula Consular. *Go Randy Go!
