Analysts, party leaders puzzle over election tallies in state - BY CHARLIE FRAGO, Arkansas Democrat Gazette

To understand why Arkansas topped the nation in the percentage of counties whose residents cast far fewer ballots for President-elect Barack Obama than for John Kerry, consider Poinsett County.

In 2004, 53 percent of voters in the county south of Jonesboro supported Democratic nominee Kerry.

Four years later, just 35 percent voted for Obama, the first time that Poinsett County voted Republican for president since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Don't blame us, we didn't vote for him.

Of Poinsett County’s 25, 614 residents, 21. 2 percent live below the poverty line.

Wow, I should think this would mean they'd be hanging on his coattails and hollering, "Gimme, gimme, gimme!"

Former Democratic county chairman John Stuckey of Trumann summarized what he had heard, saying, “I just think the idea that Obama’s views were socialist — ‘spread the wealth’ — that had a lot to do with it.”

Hmm, why would poor people be against speading the wealth.............. .......... unless, is it possible, they can think for themselves and know that no good can come from a socialist state? That it's more like spreading the misery.

How much race factored into voters’ minds before they went to the polls can’t be determined without “knowing what was in the heart of each voter,” said Ann Clemmer,
And I'll bet she never even considered that the black people were being racist. This "newly minted" Republican needs to have a good talking to. Racism runs both ways!
