A high-profile Granite State Republican who traveled with John McCain through virtually all of the 2008 campaign strongly denies a Newsweek report contending that he broke the news to McCain that the candidate was going to lose New Hampshire.
“No such conversation ever took place,” Steve Duprey, a senior McCain aide and former state Republican chairman, told UnionLeader.com. “These people are making things up now.”
Another part of the lengthy postmortem on the McCain-Palin campaign contends Sarah Palin refused to go on stage with Sen. John Sununu and former Rep. Jeb Bradley when she was in New Hampshire on Oct. 15.
