Honorable John McCain remarked, when speaking of his p.o.w. status in 'nam,"I wasn't my own man anymore. I was my country's.", and he was, his countries man! For, has a prisoner of war, he was America in the eyes of his captors, and he, all p.o.w.'s, paid dearly for that. There was no getting around it, America was a half a world away. The only way his captors could personally, and daily, inflict injury on our nation, was to take it out on the prisoners. Its a hate, and violence of that hate, that the cong took great pleasure in dishing out. They could not personally travel to inflict injury on our country, but they could satisfy that want, desire, on the countries man. John McCain says, "I fell in love with my country" and you can bet it was an undying Love, that brought him home, and put him where he is today! Running for President of the United States of America, to not be "a prisoner in someone else's," leftist nation.

I was not personally beside him has a prisoner of war, and the majority of Americans were not personally beside him, but America Was! John McCain, and his close prison contacts, were America of their bodies, minds, and souls. An American Love, that was in contact from a half a world away, from his buddies, and in himself. He wasn't his "own man anymore.", he was Americas man, and he "was never the same again.", because he realized, used, and uses the source of the strength that brought him home. The exact same source of strength that unites us as One, from this nations foundation on "republican principles.

AMEN!! that goes on still to this day. every service member that serves overseas is "America" not an american unless he is being blamed for something.

these people wrote a blank check with their lives to serve America and some paid dearly. his disabilities due to the treatment he received in hanoi are telling and were done with animosity due to him being "america!"

When you consider that the cong took great pleasure in dishing out [the torture], it is altogether amazing that you don't see any remnants of bitterness and desire for revenge. It might make us excuse his moments of testiness, too, for there will be more of those!
