:flag17: Welcome to :gopusa:
Good morning! :sun1: The sun is shining here once again after days of cool and lovely rain. The temp should be in the high 70s. :D Gas was still $3.67 yesterday.
Obama is expected to announce his VP soon. The NY Times says it may be today. Other sources say maybe as early as tomorrow. :D
Politico reports that McCain will announce his VP on August 29th at a birthday celebration in Ohio. :D That will be the day after Obama's acceptance speech.
Did you watch the Fox special on Obama last night? It seemed pretty much a puff piece to me. Disappointing. Did anyone see it and have a different reaction?
Most of us have probably had a yard sign for a presidential candidate at one time or another. I know we have had a bunch of signs. Did you ever pay for one? Obama yard signs go for $8 and up. :str:
800 people have died in Juarez this year in the drug wars. Sounds worse than Iraq. :angst:
Yesterday, we got quite a few emails saying that after Saddleback the writer could now vote FOR McCain instead of just AGAINST Obama. Hannity got some calls expressing that sentiment also. Anyone here feel the same?
Wesley Clark's office said he has not been given a role at the :jacka: convention. That's good. I hope the weasel goes back in his hole. :ugh:

Quotes of the Day: “I will win. Don’t worry about that,” ~ Barack Obama
"Both candidates in this election pledge to end this war and bring our troops home. The great difference is that I intend to win it first." ~ John McCain.
"I have no fear to go to Israel. I felt more fear in American cities. I can walk down the streets of Tel Aviv at night without a problem. But I, of course, have the knowledge of which places not to go at night, just like any other city in America." ~ Mike Huckabee
"Behind all of these claims and positions by Sen. Obama lies the ambition to be president. What's less apparent is the judgment to be commander in chief. And in matters of national security, good judgment will be at a premium in the term of the next president — as we were all reminded 10 days ago by events in the nation of Georgia." ~ John McCain

Good morning everyone. :wavey:
This morning, I have a dental appointment.
I am on standby for work. I may or may not be called in due to the Tropical storm Fay.
We are under a tropical storm watch as I type.
I will be going by Republican headquarters. Hopefully, I will be able to pickup three McCain yard signs.

Quotes of the Day: “I will win. Don’t worry about that,” ~ Barack Obama
I am not worried about him winning, at the moment. If he did win I would surely be concerned for the future of our country.
I have no fear to go to Israel. I felt more fear in American cities. I can walk down the streets of Tel Aviv at night without a problem. But I, of course, have the knowledge of which places not to go at night, just like any other city in America." ~ Mike Huckabee
??? Whatever was that all about ???
Tropical Storm is here in my corner of Paradise.....not bad, just some gusts of wind and constant, moderately heavy rain.
So, I guess we should all just give up, don't go to the polls and usher Obama into the White House right now. Darn, I wish I had some of his confidence, in anything!
Huckabee, yer an idiot.....

Took :tails: over for her second and last day of transition at her new school. She was very excited when I picked her up yesterday. She had a lot of fun and made at least 4 friends. She was looking forward to seeing them today. Wonder if she'll be as excited when actual classes and homework begin?
Did you watch the Fox special on Obama last night? It seemed pretty much a puff piece to me. Disappointing. Did anyone see it and have a different reaction?
I started to watch it to see if there was anything new. It seemed to be the same ol, same ol, so I switched channels after the first few minutes.
Yesterday, we got quite a few emails saying that after Saddleback the writer could now vote FOR McCain instead of just AGAINST Obama. Hannity got some calls expressing that sentiment also. Anyone here feel the same?
Sadly, we don't have cable at the camp, so didn't get to see Saddleback event. It was my understanding that instead of BOR, they were going to replay Saddleback last night and tonight which is why I watched the beginning of the piece on Obama. So, my mind hasn't changed as of now.
"Both candidates in this election pledge to end this war and bring our troops home. The great difference is that I intend to win it first." ~ John McCain.
That's a huge difference to me. I don't want another Viet Nam.

Good morning GOPUSA forum! 70 degrees in the land of Oz this morning. Gas $3.49 a gal. lowest I've seen here.
Didn't watch the debate, too tired, went to bed and feel much better today.
“I will win. Don’t worry about that,” ~ Barack Obama Said the hare to the tortoise!
Now he's able to see into the future? What crystal ball does he consult?
"God surely did shed his grace on America with the leadership of Barack Obama." - Nancy Pelosi
Oh! So THAT'S what happened! I thought it was something totally different.
I thought God was telling us that He raised up Obama as a warning to get back to him on a daily basis or suffer the consequences.
How could I have been so wrong?
Huckabee? What are you doing wandering around over in dangerous territory?
The Russians are still trying to pick a fight with the free world because they haven't been getting their fair share of attention in the world.
They may wind up getting more than they bargined for.
I guess the've been following the "lead" dog for so long they're getting tired of the view.
My yard sign would read: "VOTE FOR OBAMA!"
"HE'S GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO TAKE WHAT YOU'VE GOT!" Make a good bumper sticker?
Well, so much for what it takes to start your day off. Eveyone try to stay in the middle of the road and have a good 'un.

"Obama is expected to announce his VP soon." I wonder if it is going to be a long, drawn out, announcement filled with all the speculative verbage (garbage) that spills out of his mouth every time he opens it.
"McCain will announce his VP on August 29th" In other words, putting the wanna be king, Obama, in check, or drawing the enemy into a situation of ambush. Either way Obama has been put back on his heals lessening the force of his annoucement, its political message. Being, already, against the wall with efforts, and discontent, of Hillary supporters, his list of choices, in making his first appointment, is already defined. Obama knows he is "in between a rock", McCain, "and a hard place", American principles. His defined choice is choosing a VP that, the principles of the democrat power base support, but does not guarantee support of the total electorate claiming democrat allegience. Try has he might, his life history, campaign rhetoric, speaks of, and for, proportions of America, and individual passions. His lifes prosperity revolved around that, just as his primary campaign, presidential campaign, relied on support from proportions within the American population. Now he makes his first, potential, appointment defining his administrative leadership of America, while a leader, McCain, of American potential, draws on the potential of the American administration. On August 29th McCains VP choice will be defined by the American people, and his first choice in an administration "of the people".

Good morning,
I am glad Fay hasn't caused more damage than she has so far. So far it looks like we are safe. According to a new site I got from a friend last night there is another one possibly brewing out in the Atlantic. Haven't heard anything on our local news yet.
Terri, I am sorry to report that I am hoping for a great big gullywasher of a storm to happen in Denver on the evening of the 28th (isn't that when BHO is supposed to give his acceptance speech?).
Did you watch the Fox special on Obama last night? It seemed pretty much a puff piece to me. Disappointing. Did anyone see it and have a different reaction?
I turned it on for a few minutes and it made me sick to my stomach. Talk about "puff". Aren't they supposed to do McCain tonight? Wonder if it will be a "puff" piece as well.
Yesterday, we got quite a few emails saying that after Saddleback the writer could now vote FOR McCain instead of just AGAINST Obama. Hannity got some calls expressing that sentiment also. Anyone here feel the same?
This doesn't really apply to me. I was not agonizing over my vote anyway. I decided what I was going to do (without having to hold my nose) the day McCain won the primary. Not my choice for a candidate but that is who we have and I will darned well support him. It's time to stop the bickering IMHO and get behind McCain. It can't be changed now so why should I agonize over it. Get on with it and git r done.
I wouldn't pay for a yard sign ever. Mostly, they come by and ask me if they can just put one up. There are lots I would like to steal in the middle of the night when no one was looking but stealing is a sin and I can't do that.
"God surely did shed his grace on America with the leadership of Barack Obama." - Nancy Pelosi
This woman must be crazy as a loon. Just what leadership is she talking about, pray tell? Especially when BHO's Pastor wants to "God Damn America" ! I sure wish someone would or could unseat her out there in Frisco land.
800 people have died in Juarez this year in the drug wars. Sounds worse than Iraq.
Yes it does sound worse than Iraq. If you look at the number of people killed on our highways in one year it is ten time worse than Iraq too. And, then look at the number of abortions performed and that is even a worse number (legalized murder).
I have been busy all morning with paperwork and finally got everything done.
We are leaving Friday morning for Memphis to see Joe's family. I am looking forwad to being out of town for a few days. I probably won't have computer access. There are still some places i this country where I can't even get a dial up without paying long distance charges. I am surprised they don't have wireless service.
Have a great day! BBL.

god "surely did shed his grace on America with the leadership of Barack Obama." - Nancy Pelosi" I had to put a lower case g on that quote STEELMAN. There may not be others who would agree with me, but God's grace is not reflected in rhetoric of pandora Pelosi, nor Obama. Just because their actions use the Words gift to the world, and the people of that Gift, it does not give them authority to claim leadership according to the Grace of God. God's grace is shed by those of the "Word of God", not the word of the world, and its gods claiming the ability to "change" it, with "hope" in them. Heck, the story of Adam, and Eve, tells us of this "hope", and their limiting the grace of God. Of a gods temptation they chose to "change" the Grace of God, and choose its elements most beneficial to them. God's grace is shed on, of, America, and left leadership certainly benefits of it.

Hi Ya'll,
John Culberson is devoted to changing the way NEWS gets out! He's working hard to influence this by showing all the different ways we can use the new media. Suppose he doesn't like todays newspapers and TV?
I don't find what Huckabee said about Israel strange--I've heard that statement from others who were planning to go to Israel. Not in those exact words, but similar. With their proximity to all those crazies, I would think a long time before going--but, then, I live only 6 miles from Old Mexico--so, there's hardly any difference in a lot of ways. Although, I don't live near Juarez, it can happen anywhere and has! The law has become very strict on college kids who go over there and, especially, during spring breaks, we are inundated with warnings to them.
Reckon, I don't have much to say--except the more I hear of Peelosi and BO, the more I pray for John McCain to win! And, did ya'll write to him after the forum--well, I didn't hear that, but after reading all the details, it certainly inspired me to encourage him and NOT to pick a pro-choicer!!
Rick Warren said on Hannity's show yesterday afternoon that those people LIED who said McCain was listening--he didn't say they misspoke or that they were incorrect--just they LIED.
I would LOVE for ya'll to listen to Mark Levins show from yesterday--it's free! He talked about the FORUM and had an interview with the guy who wrote The Obama Nation-again-but, he also talked about BO not being fit to lick Judge Thomas' boots!!
Ya'll have a great day!!

Howdy folks!
We're are getting some rain here in north Texas and it sure is nice. The temperature is way down from where it's been all summer so things are cool.
Fay sputtered! That's great news for all you Floridians out there.
Obama is a typical liberal: He's saying that McCain is questioning his patriotism. I've never heard McCain question his patriotism, just his judgement.
You can still be a patriot and an idiot I suppose.:D

Good Evening GOPUSA Forum:
A clear, sunny 84 degree day with the humidity creeping up. A/C on as tomorrow will be 88 degrees.

Some stations at $3.44 a gallon in our area.
Dayton, Ohio for the August 29th announcement of VP by McCain. Very strange.

Hello. Went to a forum debate of two Republican candidates for a state assembly seat this evening. It was a good forum, rather sparsely attended. It was sponsored by our county party. They're both experienced and hold a lot of the same views. They're both also for a statewide smoking ban. I'm not. I think it will encourage bootlegging. blackmarketing and highjacking. It's also not a practice that automatically kills you. It may make you sick after a long period of time and people may not want to be around you but that's a choice. And in this case I'm pro-choice.
My gramp lived until 92 and most of my long-lived relatives smoked. My 101 year old auntie smoked for about 30 years. No, she doesn't have emphysema, either.
It was such a pleasant day today but will become warmer this week before cooling again. It hasn't hit 90F. here yet. We have a lot of trees around, but none close to the house but it makes a big difference just having them around and to give the house shade in the late afternoon.
I'm ready to go to bed. My feet are still hurting from yesterday at the Corn Roast.
Have a good sleep.

They're both also for a statewide smoking ban. I'm not.
They are not going to ban smoking and the sale of tobacco. You will have restrictions as to where you can and cannot smoke. There's a state wide ban here in Vermont and has been for a few years. It works well and there is no loss of customers from bars and clubs. In fact there are gains to business because of the ban.
