Politics has its (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121815293390922431 .html?mod=hpp_us_ins ide_today) puzzling moments. John McCain and most of the GOP experienced one late last week. That was when five of their own set about dismantling the best issue Republicans have in the upcoming election.

It's taken time, but Sen. McCain and his party have finally found -- in energy -- an issue that's working for them. Riding voter discontent over high gas prices, the GOP has made antidrilling Democrats this summer's headlines.

Their enthusiasm has given conservative candidates a boost in tough races. And Mr. McCain has pressured Barack Obama into an energy debate, where the Democrat has struggled to explain shifting and confused policy proposals.

I simply could not believe this when I heard about it. The energy issue was the one defining issue that the GOP had that could make national headlines and definitively underscore how inept, incompetent and out-of-touch the Dems were. So, what do Republicans Lindsey Graham, John Thune, Saxby Chambliss, Bob Corker and Johnny Isakson do with this potent ammunition? They throw it all away for nothing in a deal that will only hurt the GOP and the American consumer.

That's right. These five RINOs teamed up with five Dems in the Senate and worked out a bill that gives the Dems everything they want and simply screws the GOP and more importantly, the American people.

From Kimberly A. Strassel over at the Wall Street Journal:

This "Gang of 10" announced a "sweeping" and "bipartisan" energy plan to break Washington's energy "stalemate." What they did was throw every vulnerable Democrat, and Mr. Obama, a life preserver.

That's because the plan is a Democratic giveaway. New production on offshore federal lands is left to state legislatures, and then in only four coastal states. The regulatory hurdles are huge. And the bill bars drilling within 50 miles of the coast -- putting off limits some of the most productive areas. Alaska's oil-rich Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is still a no-go.

The highlight is instead $84 billion in tax credits, subsidies and federal handouts for alternative fuels and renewables. The Gang of 10 intends to pay for all this in part by raising taxes on . . . oil companies!

In other words, these five Senators agreed with the Dems that there should be no drilling in any area where oil actually exists.

And if that weren't enough, we consumers can look forward to higher prices since the oil companies are simply going to pass those new taxes on to us consumers at the gas pump!

What were these five thinking? This has got to be the biggest bone-head play in the history of the Senatorial GOP! Not only have they agreed to screw-over the American people with higher gas prices, but they have also cut their own party off at the knees!

Ok folks, this is a major big mess.

Please read the article and contact your senator.

Especially those of you who own one of the following idiots:

Sens. Lindsey Graham, John Thune, Saxby Chambliss, Bob Corker and Johnny Isakson

But we need to contact ALL other Republican senators and let them know politely and FIRMLY that we are NOT going to stand still for their meddling.

You can do it very easily right here. (http://capwiz.com/gopusa/dbq/officials/) Click your state on the map or in the dropdown list to find your senators. Click the Contact button and you will find phone numbers. There is also a link to webform. Send them an email that way.

I fired off an e-mail to John Thune as soon as I got the news. I actually sent him money to beat Tom Daschle. I let him know he can stop sending me Christmas cards.

A get-together with Mary Landrieu? Are they all nuts? What's with Saxby Chambliss? Has the dreaded Washington disease finally hit him?

All they have to do is let the danged ban on drilling lapse and that's coming up shortly.

I'm so sick of RINOs!!!

When I heard Rush report this, I wasn't mad; I was @&$%+* furious! And then that idiot Saxby Chambliss had the nerve to call Rush and describe the 'gang of ten' as bipartisan heros who had accomplished a major boon. I was speechless, incredulous, stunned... and then I got really mad and pulled to the side of the road and cussed for five minutes.

Memo to Lindsey Graham, John Thune, Saxby Chambliss, Bob Corker and Johnny Isakson: Compromise? You call this a compromise? Giving the Democrats everything they wanted and getting zilch in return is a compromise? THAT IS NOT COMPROMISE YOU *%#@ MORONS, THAT'S CAPITULATION!!!

What a bunch of jerks! As Rush said, they seem to be following in Maverick's footsteps, using his techniques.

Rush also said the "our side" should not "SURRENDER" to the Democrats!

I am "furious" beyond words...
