Election: There's little doubt voters want more drilling if even congressional candidates are starting to trek to Alaska to urge more oil development. Seven are there now. That's a wake-up call to Congress.

Congressional challenger Craig Williams of Pennsylvania spoke to us Wednesday by phone from Deadhorse, Alaska. He and six other Republican candidates think there's enough voter disapproval with Congress' failure to do anything about gas prices to win this election, even in a season when Democrats are believed to have the advantage.

"We've got a Democratic Congress doing absolutely nothing. Even the Republicans (before them) didn't do anything. So we are now paying $4 a gallon for gas. It's an emergency," Williams said.

As Jack Nicholson said in " A Few Good Men",
"You Can't handle the Truth"
These Liberals know the truth but don't give a damn. They reinvent history and the truth each day to fit their political agendas. How long must we as a nation suffer from the callous attitude and ineptness of the Current leaders of Congress?

Amen Doug - well said, the truth be known is not a hallmark of the democrats and their leaders and their agendas. They are obstructionist in addition to being socialist, communist, Marxist and fascist minded whimps determined to destroy America from within. When will enough Americans wake up to stop this raping of the American dream and our great, beautiful history.

Thanks IBD for another great article, at least we have one loyal publication in America.

The Democrat Party could never handle the truth. Every Democrat in America should be voted out of office!!

Democrat arrogance and belligerancy belies their defensiveness over a wholly illogicial and untenable position. They are in deep trouble and it shows.

Democrats Sputtering on Energy
By Gary Andres, RCP

If congressional obstruction were gasoline, Americans would be awash in energy. The House Democratic leadership's gambit to protect their environmental special-interest group friends is both bold and risky. And as their constituents feel the pain at the pump, rank-and-file Democrats may face gushers of opposition at the polls this November. The gas shock of 2008 has not generated any new energy, but it has produced gallons of missed opportunity.

The current energy crisis has three implications on Capitol Hill that deserve mention. First, rank-and-file Democrats are increasingly nervous that their leadership is exposing them to extreme political risk. Second, Republicans are more unified and enthusiastic about this issue than any other since losing the majority in 2006. Third, the ongoing congressional bickering over energy deepens voter cynicism and disapproval of Congress - creating both missed opportunities for the Democratic majority and new chances for the Republican Party in an otherwise barren and hostile political environment.
