Shamnesty Republican Chris Cannon defeated in Utah primary - By Michelle Malkin •
Every time an immigration enforcement proponent loses a seat in Congress, the open-borders Wall Street Journal and their ilk use it to argue that Republicans need to support shamnesty to maintain political viability. The WSJ falsely framed the 2006 midterm election losses of GOP Reps. John Hostettler, Randy Graf, and J.D. Hayworth as electoral rejection of strict enforcement of immigration laws–conveniently ignoring the fact their opponents campaigned to their right on the issue.
Well, what will the WSJ and company say about what happened today to one of their favorite shamnesty/DREAM Act shills, GOP Rep. Chris Cannon? The six-term incumbent went down in flames in the Utah primary, defeated by Republican Jason Chaffetz–an underfunded political newcomer who made opposition to illegal immigration, rejection of amnesty, and support for tough deportation policies a top campaign issue. Cannon outspent Chaffetz 7-to-1 and had the entire GOP establishment from the White House on down backing him.

Utahns have spoken, and I'm one of them. Now we need to have other conservative candidates run in the other 49 states, openly, unafraid to stand up for conservative values.
Congratulations to Jason Chaffetz!

Someone please inform John McCain.
Hang in there! With a few more months in the "corral of reality" this ole maverick may find the right trail with the help of the right trainers and some hard bronco bustin facts.
I'd rather try to teach an old dog of experience a few tricks rather than to try to mold a young, arrogant, upstart of a pup who already knows it all like Obama.
I don't like a lot of McCain's ideas but I think he might be more malleable than BO. He's a maverick and tricky; about the time you think you've got him to settle down he starts buckin the other way to catch you off balance.
I believe there still some good left in the ole war horse. We'll see what happens after he's been in the "corral" for the next few months.

This is good news to opponents of illegal invasion. MALDEF lost an amnesty puppet. I had a dime in the nearly successful Jacob's radio campaign in 2006 to throw out Cannon. The big money open borders lobbies put big funds in there to counter. Chaffetz is the conservative's choice here for sure.

Hooray! Yahoo!
Thanks Amawalk for the link to Chaffetz' bio. Good reporting, interesting stuff.
Now let's see if the Utah establishment gives him a rousing endorsement.
This from Roy Beck today
Soon after Pres. Bush declared that passing an amnesty for illegal aliens was one of his top priorities, Cannon bragged to the press that he was the White House's amnesty point man in the U.S. House.
He repeatedly sponsored and co-sponsored amnesties.
Whenever any of us on the Sensible Immigration side testified before the House Judiciary Committee, Cannon assumed the role of prosecutor and did his best Joseph McCarthy imitation demanding to know if we were now or had ever been friends with a list of people that he and the SPLC deemed unfit company. In his "cross-examinations" of me, he always avoided the policy issues of immigration and engaged in attempts at character assassination and innuendo.

I am so glad to see my donation to Chaffetz helped him win despite being outspent and his opponent being backed by the GOP and the White House. Let's hope the GOP will strongly support him now. It's not over yet.
If you don't have anyone conservative enough in your state, as I don't, look around and find those you can support in another state. They're out there, we just need to search for them.
I guess it's obvious, this win has bolstered my spirits and gives me hope for the future.
