Is anyone else a bit disgusted besides me that Pvt. Lynch received a BRONZE STAR? WHAT meritorious service? Her equipment malfunctioned so her convoy took a wrong turn...then they were ambushed and her vehicle crashed, thus she sustained injuries! She didn't go out fighting in a hail of bullets while wounded! It really makes me sad that the media can't see past this propaganda which has so many holes in it right from the start - she is NOTa hero. It dimishes the courage and valor of so many veterans before her who rightfully earned the Bronze Star in previous wars. It just plain cheapens the honor of it all. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

PALESTINE, W.Va. (Reuters) - Jessica Lynch, the wounded Army private whose ordeal in Iraq was hyped into a media fiction of U.S. heroism, was set for an emotional homecoming on Tuesday in a rural West Virginia community bristling with flags, yellow ribbons and TV news trucks.

But when the 20-year-old supply clerk arrives by Blackhawk helicopter to the embrace of family and friends, media critics say the TV cameras will not show the return of an injured soldier so much as a reality-TV drama co-produced by U.S. government propaganda and credulous reporters.

"It no longer matters in America whether something is true or false. The population has been conditioned to accept anything: sentimental stories, lies, atomic bomb threats," said John MacArthur, the publisher of Harper's magazine.

Jack, you didn't mention the Purple Heart and POW medal. Give her a break - shes America's sweetheart and deserves everything she gets. She may not have gone down in a hail of bullets, but could probably hold her own against a lot of so called men. By the way, do you know the requirements for the Bronze Star?

Some of the other members of this unit also received medals.

Quote[/b] ]Rose received the Bronze Star with V-device for valor for his actions that day; Campbell, a Purple Heart and Bronze Star; Jackson and Luten, Purple Hearts.

It's the last paragraph of at the following link.

Jack, I don't know that it would matter to you, but I heard today that REUTERS took some liberties with this story and used this person's by-lines. She gave them permission thinking they were going to publish HER version--instead they made up their own!

Me.
Those who really did go down in a hail of bullets, and never got back up should be the ones being honored and remembered.

What branch of the armed forces did you serve?
