COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham easily won his primary Tuesday against a fellow Republican who hammered his ties to Arizona Sen. John McCain.

In Virginia, a county official beat a former congresswoman in the bitter Democratic contest for the seat being vacated by retiring Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Davis, according to early unofficial results.

And in Maine, Democrats chose Rep. Tom Allen over political newcomer Tom Ledue in a U.S. Senate primary.

With more than 70 percent of precincts reporting in South Carolina, Graham had 67 percent of the vote, compared with 33 percent for challenger Buddy Witherspoon.

We hear lots in here about voting out RINOs but when the opportunity presents itself, that doesn't happen.

So, why aren't there more comments in this thread?

The whining about RINOs is endless yet Arizona reelected the biggest amnesty guy in the Senate a few years ago, (thanks for the prez nominee, AZ) and now S. Carolina has renominated his best buddy?

And with 2/3 of the vote. What's up with that, conservatives?

Wow. What a surprise. A sitting senator wins his parties renomanation after running against a man with no name recognition, no money and no organization. Here is the real story. Graham wins by 17.1 %. Not exactly a landslide.

He got 67% of the vote. That's 2/3 of the vote.

Unknown? Sure, to me. But if those SC Republicans who are unhappy with Graham didn't choose a challenger who was well known then it's their own fault.

People gripe. People whine. Then they do the same thing again.

This is inconceivable. Polls I saw throughout last year showed Grahamnesty's numbers in the toilet.

Could it be that this primary was improperly publicized? The news item doesn't provide an indication of the turnout.

It might have raised a big red flag to McCain if the challenger had won here. As it is, McCain will continue to live within his cocooned self-assured little world.

Does anyone know the turnout???

I think most people don't really dig into the the issues. They are not really informed voters. They read the newspaper and watch tv news and then cast a vote according to the latest spin. Also, I think it makes some people feel good to vote incumbent and then thump themselves on the chest thinking they voted for a winner. Their vote really counted. It's the only explaination for Grahamnesty's renomination I can come up with that doesn't include Roswell, the Bilderburgs and the Masons.
