POLK CITY, Fla. (AP) -- Republican Sen. John McCain is skipping President Bush's State of the Union address on Monday night even though Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton plan to attend.

''We'll be campaigning here,'' Sen. McCain of Arizona said Sunday in Florida, where he is locked in a tight campaign for the Republican presidential nomination against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Sens. Clinton of New York and Obama of Illinois are battling in the Democratic primary. For Democrats, the significance of Florida's vote is diminished because the national party stripped the state of all its delegates to the nominating convention for holding its primary too early in the year.

So what else is new? McCain does not support Republican values. McCain does not support, and indeed has repeatedly shown distaste toward, the Republican administration. McCain likes to throw in everyone's face his "maverick" reputation and logo. McCain, when the chips are down or he loses a position, is the first to run to the other side (dems) to seek their support and comfort. So for him to not show up at the President's most important address of the year in support of his party should be expected. The man's a blooming jerk.

Of course, McCain's not going to show up for the SoUA - he'd have to sit with his friends, and how would it look for a RINO running for president to be on the dumbdem side of the chamber?

My understanding is that McCain has spent very little time in Washington since he began his campaign -- if he can't be bothered to fulfill his duties in Congress, why would anyone expect him to show up for the State of the Union?

He's deeply entrenched in Florida, trying to hold his ground so that the "Evil" Mitt Romney doesn't make any headway for tomorrow.

Go Mitt!
