There are many disturbing issues to contemplate in the world. From the dangers of aggressive Islamofascism to the pomposity and arrogance of the American elected class (and those vying to be included) the world stands witness to myriad threats and power grabs. But two power grabs opens the door for the United Nations to both amass sovereign rights and to fund and assemble a military force under its own banner.

That the United Nations is a corrupt and ineffective institution is an understatement. The list of illegal activities and instances of institutionalized bigotry are so numerable that they weave a tapestry of embarrassment that would incite any governmental body with integrity to disband. Truth be told, they can't even agree on a definition for "terrorism." As they say, absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

Heaven help us if the United Nations ever gets a standing army and/or an independent lucrative funding stream the member nations cannot control by vote. Independent funds to the UN means corrupt socialist international bureaucrats who think America should pay for everything happening in the world, plus be responsible for any and every failure, disaster, crime, or error.
So allowing the UN a standing army must be an issue America vehemently objects to at even the mere mention in a restroom.

the Great Stan himself, President George W. Bush

I'm embarrassed  to say when I first read this sentence I'm thinking, 'Stan who? Musial? Getz?" Then the dawn came, along with the missing 'a'. Sheesh!

It's time we all started calling and e-mailing the White House, telling the president not to sign the LOST bill. It would be disastrous for us.

Definitely a "SCARY" article in the sense the UN
is a "corrupt" body of nations!!

IMO, the UN is nothing more than an international spy ring set up to drain every bit of power they can from the U.S. and whatever allies we have left.

It serves no benefit for the USA and is a thorn in our side, a stumbling block placed to inhibit any progress we might be initiating.

The sooner we dismiss this conglomerate of misinformation assembly the better. Any "army" they could come up with would be a disaster to say the least. Too many generals.

A UN standing army is comparable to putting the Mafia in charge of insurance collections/distribution or Columbia/Mexico in charge of drug control at the border.

This administration, IMO has lost its mind. Obama-mama advised me he was in favor of LOST - and considering dumbo Durbin's attitude toward America's security, assume he's in the same camp.

Emailing, faxing, phoning these two idiots' offices does nothing more than raise my blood pressure. Anyone have a suggestion about dealing with braindead pols?

Outside the dhimmicrat party it would be difficult to find an institution more corrupt than the UN. The old saying' "keep your enemies close and your friends closer" does not apply to the UN because the US has no friends in this den of corruption. Continued participation in this organization will lead to the downfall of the US.

I think we should proceed with NATO in the G8 which should be expanded to include all the new powers that have risen since the end of the cold war. We can use all the help we can get. The G8 needs to be revamped as well which will get us what we really need right now, allies helping in the reconstruction of former fake states such as Iraq. That is where we came us short in Iraq. We have the only military that projects it's power with ease all over the world. We can take down any dictator but what we found is we lack a second half team, the reconstruction part. We can no longer live under the Powell doctrine, "Which says, As soon as the guns stop shooting we are out of there". What fills the vacuum are the bin Laden types which does nothing but expand their territory.

So I believe the UN is only good for resolutions and inditements, but the G8 already has the peacekeepers from the major old powers, it should be expanded to include those new powers most of them ring our area of concern in the Middle East.

I know alot of you don't care much for Nation Building, but the alternative for us is a huge wall between us and the rest of the world. I personally want to give my children and grandchildren the world not prison walls.

Great article,

Though my god if the UN ever gets to tax the US and the rest of the world or even get a standing army. It is bad enough the Bush says he will sign the LOST treaty, that just makes my blood boil and this article is scary though iam not surprised.

Can anyone tell me why we allow the UN to be on US territory, it would make more sense to send it to a 3rd world country or perhaps Europe. Also, why the heck are we will part of this organization, it is corrupt beyond repair and people that hate the US think that the US is the way and we should just let them control everything.
