The day after my hometown was rocked by the senseless murder of eight innocent people and the wounding of five others in a local shopping mall, 'Today Show' co-host Meredith Vieira asked this obtuse question of two of the shooter's friends: "Do you think your friend was a victim?"

Therein lies the problem with our society's view of guns and gun violence. The rights of victims are forgotten while murderers are called victims.

Poor Robbie Hawkins. Apparently 265,000 of our hard-earned tax dollars spent on this "victim" over the last several years by our Health and Human Services system was an insufficient amount.

Possibly his various foster parents victimized him by not recognizing the signs of depression evident in the lad.

From what I read on another web site it appears that the Mall has removed the no concealed weapons signs. Always after the fact.

Well, as I have stated before..."A well armed society is a VERY polite society." I still believe it would be better to see everyone walking down the mall lanes and shopping stores with a fine piece of firearm on their side and a few clips on a sparkling belt (for the ladies) than to worry about whether or not someone might try to harm you or rob you.

I believe the criminal would think twice before trying anything with so much firepower walking around. Also knowing that those who were carrying were qualified on the firing range and were not afraid to use their protection.

Americans must never let congress take away our right to bear arms especially as the times are becoming more dangerous as predicted by Devine viewpoint.

Think about it. The three most thoroughly "gun-free" zones in America are schools, shopping malls and U.S. Post Offices. When was the last time you heard about a gunman shooting up a police station, an Army base or even a casino? Why do you think that is?

My father was a railway mail car worker in the 40s and 50s. He was required to carry a gun. And I always thought postmasters had to have a gun nearby. They handled a lot of money in those days. I don't know about nowadays.

Our state (Wisconsin) is one of the 3 that don't allow concealed carry.

Our governor is an airy-headed liberal who appears to care for nothing except being re-elected, raising taxes and putting feel-good laws into effect.

God Bless you all. We can see that since the security at a church was allowed to carry a gun, more people were not shot. What the hell is security without a weapon? I will not give up what is mine to a thief, until I am dead! Gotta get my pistol permit. Alas though, where could I carry it? They are truly EVIL!

Years ago, some people in a community put up signs on their homes. The signs said, "There are no guns in this house". They wanted to shame the gun-owners into getting rid of their guns so they could put up their own signs. The signs were gone three days later. It seems that the criminals targetted the homes with the signs, knowing that the people were unarmed and helpless.
Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring all homes to have a gun. The crime rate dropped 50% within a week, and continued to drop.
Those signs do say, Please shoot me".
