Today I was having a little trouble with my :gopusa: pages loading and even though I don't have one spare minute to waste today :biggrin2: I decided I'd try different browsers to see if it made a difference.
It did.
Opera and IE acted the same--sluggish, but Mozilla Firefox zipped out those pages likety-split :) and I have a filter which tends to slow things down. I use MF a lot, but never did a side by side evaluation of all the most popular browsers before. Just my :twocents: for today. :biggrin2:

At home I use the Firefox browser. When viruses are written, they are usually written for Internet Explorer and do not effect Firefox; an additoinal advanatge of using Firefox.

Also, if you are using Firefox & you get to a site that was written to only work with IE, you just install the "IE Tab" add-on and you can run the IE engine in a Firefox tab.
It also runs great on UNIX boxes. Tried IE once on UNIX - it was truly an abomination.
Let's see; smaller binaries, faster loading and secure browsing - what is not to like???

I couldn't find it in "add ons" on their website.
I mentioned this in the Precinct...FireFox has an ugly tendency to dump bookmarks, remove toolbars and then "lose" your home page. It takes my geeky daughter about 20 minutes to find the dumped bookmarks, it's a pain right now. My home page is my business. Since I am the least geeky person around, I can't fix my problem myself and have to depend on a hormonal teenage geek to get my stuff restored....big hassle.

I'm a big fan of Netscape, personally.
There are very few pages I've come across that actually REQUIRE I use Internet Exploder. You can drag and drop tabs to view multiple pages, and it remembers your passwords.

I'm a big fan of Netscape, personally.
Me too.
I can tell you, based on my personal experience, the worst browser is Internet Explorer. It's slow and sometimes would crash my computer when nothing like that would happen when I was using Netscape.
I, too, would use Internet Explorer when certain websites are written to specifically be viewed with Internet Explorer. Afterwards, I would switch back to Netscape.

Netscape is Mozilla just like Firefox. Whenever I get an update for one, I get one for the other very soon.
I too avoid IE whenever possible and my computer runs much better.

I was using Netscape 8.1 for a really long time because it had a password prompt to use it. I liked that so I could use it without a filter when I had to get something done really fast.
Now we have a new filter, BeSafeOnline that allows the admin. to type in the password if a site is blocked (for no good reason :) )

I use Mozilla Suite 1.7.13, it covers email and browsing all in one, and works with almost all pages. I keep IE around when it doesn't work.

I have multiple browsers that I use in the following order:
(1) Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.11 (Primary)
(2) Netscape Browser 9.0.0.4
(3) Safari for Windows 3.0.4 (Beta)
(4) Internet Explorer 7
I only use IE when I want my computer to read to me via an IE add-on (Read To Me). Firefox is the best. It's safe and customizable. I use Netscape occassionly for a change. I'm Beta testing Safari for Windows just for the fun of it. It's OK, but it is very plain and not at all customizable. Additionally, Safari has trouble with printing.
Netscape is Mozilla just like Firefox. Whenever I get an update for one, I get one for the other very soon.
Not only that. There's a "theme" (skin) for Firefox that makes it look like Netscape Browser 9. Netscape Browser has become the little brother of Mozilla Firefox.

I'm certainly with you all about Firefox! My lifesaver! Hate IE and feel incredibly annoyed when a site "requires" it.
Love the bookmark function so similar to my old love Netscape...with my filing cabinet-like multilayered organiizing strategy! IE's Favorites is a disaster to manage.
If only my old computer could keep up with my tendency to have 7-9 tabs running at the same time!

Interesting thing I noticed regarding this site's display on Safari. On Safari for Windows 3.0.4 (Beta) a box entitled "Thread Tools" is present just above the box entitled "Posting Rules." This does not appear on IE7, Netscape Browser, or Mozilla Firefox. This isn't a complaint; merely an observation.

That's interesting to know, Repeal. I'll pass it along to those who understand these things. :D
The site is designed with Safari for Mac but follows compliance standards for other major browsers also.

I'm liking Safari fairly well. So far it worked great on Amazon and here. I go on Realestatebook.com a lot and sometimes MZ & IE & NS all have a glitch with the java thingy. Will have to see how Safari does there.
OK--I can't get the "show all smilies" to come down. Only see :D code; :chdance code; etc. no pics and no "show all smilies." :lookaround:
Do you see all the smilies Repeal?

We're sorry. RealEstateBook.com does not support the Safari Web browser.
To use RealEstateBook.com, please use Firefox Web browser.
To download Firefox, please visit http://www.mozilla.com
Oh well :)

Same problem here, Laurie.
I found several glitches with Safari. It doesn't much like right click either.

Ok, we just checked this out. Safari for Mac shows all those options.
The problem seems to be a lack of compatibility between the Safari for Windows version and the forum software. It may disappear when we upgrade the forum software but there are no plans to do that right now.
The best solution will be to use Netscape or Firefox here in the forum.

Firefox always saves backup copies of your bookmarks. If they ever get lost, you can find them on your hard drive.
