Welcome to the :gopusa: Precinct!
Wise Words:
“My Christian home and education did not teach me what God wanted to do with my life. It taught me that I am to be obedient to His direction and leading in spite of my personal desires. I stayed in the military because I felt God’s call... The Marine Corps still embeds corps values of courage, honor and commitment in the heart of every recruit—that these young men and women understand that the only thing worse than war is believing that there is not anything worth dying for.” —Maj. Gen. Mastin Robeson
In the News:
Daylight Savings Time coming soon :biggrin2: Set your clocks back before you go to bed, if you have DST
Terrible flood in Mexico–the surreal pictures of horses and cars either walking or floating down the road is so pitiful.

Lock down in a nuke plant yesterday–pipe bomb found in a contractor’s truck. “The worker, Roger William Hurd, told investigators he didn't know how the bomb got in his truck and was released Friday afternoon.” :ne_nau:
:usflag22: "We pray for the military families who mourn the loss of loved ones. We hold them in our hearts—and we honor the memory of every fallen soldier, sailor, airman, Coast Guardsman, and Marine.” —President George W. Bush

Hi, Laurie! Got your mail. Boy, am I the itinerant poster lately, huh? Yeah, it's a function of time at the new job. But I'm still following politics, in fact I wrote a long post in the late Friday nite precinct but the problem was it closed while I was writing it. Ugh.
I did write a couple of posts in the Fourth Estate.
How are things going everyone? Hello?
Hello???

Who the heck is making all the noise in here? Huh?? :hair3:
Oh, it's you, Duncan. Well, sit down and tell us what you've been doing. Thre must be some of Katy's goodies and Susie's fudge or maybe some of Schiller's wine. Who the heck knows.
Hey, how's that baby? She must be about ready to graduate by now. WE missed her whole childhood, you lazy boy! No pictures or anything. :sad1:
I just sent in a report a week late on some local candidates. Not much to report. The challenger has been standing pat and haven't heard a peep out of her. I have a hunch big things are going on underground, though.
How ya likin' our guberbator nowadays? I MUST NOT, I CAN NOT, I WILL NOT............... RAISE TAXES. Biggest tax increase in the history of the United States, the dang liar!
On that note I'll mooch off to bed before Morpheus gets the better of me.
Be good, Dunc. Post some pix.

Good Saturday!!
What a fine frosty :inlove: fall morning in southern Ohio
Daylight Savings Time coming soon :biggrin2: Set your clocks back before you go to bed, if you have DST
Yes, a week behind the usual this year and my goodness people were whining last Sunday when they hadn't gotten to sleep in an hour.
I think I'd rather join Indy(or part of it) that doesn't switch.
Hey! Duncan! Long time no see!!
Glad to see you are back in some :)
Thre must be some of Katy's goodies and Susie's fudge or maybe some of Schiller's wine. Who the heck knows.
So that explains why I'm fatter but happy -- Katy's treats, susies fudge, and schillers affordabile imbibing fluid!! :colgate:
Ok, off and running, Tuesday approaches and I have been extremely busy attempting to educate some :egg:-brained voters!!!

Good Morning:
It's s'pose to be a pretty weekend in north Texas...I hope they're right. I don't have anything scheduled, my grandkids are with their dad, so I can just be lazy or do what I wish. I feel good about that right now. I need some "me" time right now. :D
Other than that, I don't have to lot to chat about right now, so I'll catch y'all farther down the road.
Welcome back Duncan!

Howdy Folks -- Tis a nice cool clear day here in N.C., particularly since Noel went by here without a whimper. It is a nice crisp cool day approaching noon o'clock at the moment, with mama preparing dinner at noon for a few friends who were especially nice to us during my recent 2-i/2 months lay-up in the hospital and after. I will be able to thank them in one-fell-swoop as they are all captive at my dinner-table. Friends are special, especially when you know them for their deeds as well as their promises. Until next rime, keep safe rather than sorry......
What a cool, sunny and glorious day in my corner of Paradise! Just lovely.
I had settled down with wine (thanks, schillerbjr for the Woodbridge, nice, I love Merlot) and Meerkat Manor when I got a call from Guy, "ach, my friend cannot go to Busch Gardens tomorrow. She has clients vanting to zee houses. She met dem in Germany last veek and dey decided on de spur uff de moment to fly over and talk to her. SO, I miss you, Little Lady, I vant to see you now..."
Well, after Meerkat Manor I was heading next door to my German friends for food and wine. So, "Guy, clean up, come over and we see my friends, they keep asking about you."
It is SO obvious he misses Europe. The conversation, what I could make out and what Jutta translated for me, was about soccer, food, weather and politics. Seems everyone there, last night, are the German equivilents of Republicans. After my friends it was a midnite and moonlight cruise in his red convertible. We munched cheese, pate and French bread on the beach by the light of the moon.
Yeah, he misses me.....niiiiiiiice.. .
What IS this, Old Home Week? Cheese shows up, then Cleo's Mom, then Ruthie, then Duncan..Nitsuard, so sorry about the health thing and so happy about being yer age.....glad yer back along with everyone else....
I tell ya, once the primaries begin, we're gonna see ALLLLLL kinds of missed folks in here and out there in the Forum...
OK, a little pollution music, Mary Lou.......

Good day everyone! Very cloudy, windy, with a little :raincloud: We're supposed to be getting the remnants of TS Noel, but so far, it's not bad. We are keeping Diamond in the barn and battened down the hatches, so we're ready for whatever does come our way. It's supposed to be much worse this afternoon and evening.
Had a busy morning. Both kids participate in our annual food drive so first we did :boy:'s route, then hurried and did :tails:. Today was the easy part. They just drop grocery bags with a note telling people what it's all about.
Next week, we go back and pick up all the filled bags and take them to the 'food pantry' at a local church. This will be the 6th year we've done this so we've got it down pretty much to a science. :tails: started when she was 5 y/o and :boy: when he was 3.
We finished both routes just in time to make it back and go to :boy:'s closing ceremony for his soccer team. He's pretty happy with the trophy he received and will add it to his growing collection.
He came home with a sign up sheet for :basketball: last week. Being very interested in all sports, there was no question that he would want to do that. That starts the end of November so I'll have a little break before I start running again. :tails: likes to play backyard :basketball: with him, but isn't interested in joining a team so at least I won't have double the running to do.
I guess this is why they say kids keep you young. You don't have time to sit and grow old. :eh:
Lock down in a nuke plant yesterday–pipe bomb found in a contractor’s truck. “The worker, Roger William Hurd, told investigators he didn't know how the bomb got in his truck and was released Friday afternoon.” :ne_nau:
I don't know how it got there either. All I know for sure is.....I didn't put it there. :lookaround: I wonder where DannyD was? :hehe:

There's a very serious situation underway in Pakistan. RD has posted a thread in Foreign News.
Lucky, do you think Diamond is lonesome for other horses?
Every time we have a long serious thread about constitutional matters I become more and more afraid for this country. People do not understand our method of government, what our governing documents say, the role of the various branches or the process of change. We are in real trouble. :shake:

And our own leaders play on it too... they are running on abortion and gay marriage... NEITHER OF WHICH A PRESIDENT CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT DIRECTLY. They do sometimes try to explain it, like Thompson has, and STILL get slammed BY THEIR OWN PEERS for "dodging the issue"...

The candidates speak on the topics the people demand.
How many realize the role of a president in a constitutional amendment?

:ne_nau: It is discouraging. I agree.
edit: Truth is, I only know as (little) much about the process because I lived thru the ERA attempt.

Lucky, do you think Diamond is lonesome for other horses?
Originally, I was afraid he might be, not knowing his background, but it doesn't seem to be a problem,. There is a horse farm with 18 horses that abuts our pasture and except for a little whinnying back and forth when he first came here, he ignores them. Even when someone rides by, he pays little attention to them.
He seems much more interested in people and what we are doing. If he hears voices or someone is walking by, he has to go investigate.
I do have a line on a Tennesee Walker that I am investigating and word out that I am looking for at least one more horse, possibly two. The TW is a 4 y/o, supposed to be gentle mannered and is located in Florida. Someone from this area is going down in March with a two horse trailer and could bring it up if I decide to buy it.
People do not understand our method of government, what our governing documents say, the role of the various branches or the process of change. We are in real trouble. Believe it not, that's often a topic of conversation at our dinner table with the kids. We not only talk about school events, but American and world events as well. Often one of the kids will start the discussion by asking a question.
They know the 3 branches of government and what each branch is responsible for. They also are learning about some of the freedoms and responsibilities that belong to the citizens.
If the schools won't teach them, we must teach them that it's their responsibility to get involved in the process early and not ignore what's happening. You might think it's over their heads, but I can assure you, even the 6 y/o gets excited about it.

Hi everyone. :wavey:

Welcome back Duncan. :wavey:

Good Evening GOPUSA Forum:
Saturday, November 3, 2007....not 2004!!!!!!
A clear, sunny, blue sky after "frost" this AM!
The temps hit 56 degrees in this part of SW Ohio today!
I mowed the lawn today for the 40th time in 2007! Then went to a local College Football game where the HOME TEAM won 61-0!!!!
The ticket was "free" so can't complain, and it
was a nice fall day for a football game!!
RADIOWOMAN, thanks for the kind words in post
# 9!! Try a 2001 Raphael Merlot, which I had
a glass tonight, and was OUTSTANDING!! But
I like most red wines and some white wines!
GOD BLESS all our servicemembers in Iraq and
Afghanistan! They are OUR HEROES!!!
GOD BLESS all our GOPUSA Forum members!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
Good night all and have a safe rest of 11/3/07!
schillerbjr, many thanks for the merlot! I do love reds and whites both. But I have to be careful with red wine....makes me achey. BUT since it is getting cooler at night, the reds are more appealing than my white wine. And when it's really chilly (for SW Florida, that is) I really like a small glass of brandy.
Easy day today...did some laundry, cleaned a bit and now I'm gonna call Guy and then hit the hay....

Hi Ya'll,
Don't have a lot to say, but thought I'd say "howdy", anyway.
Had quite a day yesterday--visiting nurse came in to check me out--my blood pressure was 148--highest it's ever been--still have no idea why--unless it's cause I'd lost my temper the night before. :) I'll learn not to do that again--only reason they are coming by, I just finished about 3 weeks of physical therapy and in order to get that, the visiting nurses have to come by--so, they all make money, I reckon
Anyway, went to the doctor and my bp there was only 130. Had some things frozen off (felt a lot more like burning than freezing) my under chin--where there's not much fat! By the time they got thru with that, it was back to 140---anyway, today it's back down to 110. Nothing like fluctuation to keep someone worried or happy.
The real reason I thought I'd post, the assistant secretary of defense just presented a whole row of Purple Heart recipients, from the National Guard, to the audience at the Grand Ole Opry and they must have clapped for a good 3 minutes--and, then, I think they had to quieten them down.
Then, Jan Howard, (who lost a son in Vietnam) sang "You Are The Wind Beneath My Wings"! A greater supporter of our military never existed than Jan --she's always doing something out at the base in Clarksville, Tn. for the troops!
Thought that might interest ya'll--I know I'm always tickled to know that our military is being supported!!
Oh, and, Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, R-Tn., was there last night to present them a pllaque for their patriotism! (Notice these supporters always seem to be on our side)!
Ya'll have a good night!!

That's because we really support them while the other side just pretends, but works against them.

Hi, everyone! Thanks for the welcome back. But you know I never left, I just lost some time, that's all.
Go Iowa Hawkeyes! They came back from a 14-0 deficit today against Northwestern.
You know, it may be the beer talking, but I really do think our prospects for 08 are good. I'm praying that Hillary will win the nomination. She is the definition of lightning rod.
