Welcome to the :gopusa: Precinct!
SHOUT IT from the Housetops! Wise Words from John Adams:
“A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” —John Adams
What’s Happening?
Wasn’t that just the greatest news and a slap in the face to the ne’er do well dems that Rush’s letter raised over 2 million DOLLARS on ebay and he’s going to match it. What a blessing for the MCLEF–> Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides scholarships to children of Marines or federal law enforcement personnel who were killed while serving their country. A big
Rep. Pete Stark accused Republicans of sending troops to Iraq to "get their heads blown off for the president's amusement." Boehner called for an apology, Pelosi gave Stark one lash with a wet noodle  Here’s the thread explaining it: Liberals are Creeps (http://www.gopusa.com/forum/showthread.php?p=402 019#post402019)

There was a bloody massacre in Pakistan –all to get Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto –135+ are dead. "There was one suicide squad from the Taliban elements, one suicide squad from al-Qaida, one suicide squad from Pakistani Taliban and a fourth—a group—I believe from Karachi,"

For those following the recent discussions in the Loft or elsewhere I ran across an interesting interview with Gary Bauer.
It's posted here. (http://www.gopusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=431 06)
Also posting news from the Values Conference which is going on yesterday and today in DC.

Rush's "ju jitsu" with the Senate Democrats' letter is the best example I've ever seen of the expression "Hoist by his own petard" (http://www.bartleby.com/59/4/hoistbyoneso.html).
Megadittos and thanks to the winning bidder, to Rush and to his broadcast partner for a lesson for all of us in dealing with Democrats.
An entry in today'sCaptain's Quarters (http://www.captainsquarters blog.com/mt/archives/015127.php) makes the following telling observation about the differences between conservatives and liberals:
The conservative thinks of a free-market way of raising private funds to aid a worthwhile causes and backs his commitment with his own money.
The liberal asks other people to donate funds, doesn't donate any of his own money, and tries to take credit for the generosity of others.

Good Morning!
I am awaiting my first student of the day, but I do have time to drop in and say hello!
The libs are CONSTANTLY being "hoisted on their own petards", I mean, nearly daily, but unfortunately, it doesn't often make the news. However, this recent hoisting was so big it was hard to ignore. FOX NEWS did report it last night. Was it on any of the other news outlets, praytell? I don't watch them, so I wouldn't know.
Saw my buddy Jason playing the drums on TV this morning, backing Robert Plant. Led Zeppelin WILL be re-uniting NEXT MONTH with Jason's band Foreigner as the opening act. Jason will being playing drums for both bands I guess. A tall order, but he can do it. He is probably the only person on planet Earth who can, as he has memorized every nuance of his Dad's drumming, plus has added his own touches.
BONZO LIVES! :)
Warm, overcastd muggy in my corner of Paradise.
Saw Guy last night, what a great time. I made Son's favorite...garlic shrimp. I need to learn to eat a bit faster, they ate their food and then picked off MY plate! Son is a fine young man. He and I have some wonderful conversations when Guy is elsewhere, usually answering emergency pool or property management calls. Guy thinks like I do, always thinking ahead. While we were haing dessert, he asked Son, How does porterhouse steak sound for tomorrow night?" Son said, "yes, is SHE coming?" I told him we didn't have plans, his dad was all his. Son looked crestfallen and said, "but I want you to come." SO, dinner tonite as well.
Seems neighbor K was vandalized last nite, the outside box to the telephone and electrical wires are cut and hanging loose. I'm going to wander over when I'm done here and see what's what. Guy is also a master electrician and maybe can fix it and not cost her money. I told her to call the police. My house seems fine. But I need to check and so does the other neighbors, the Ramos.......
OH, I was wrong last night on radio stations. Stations low on the dial, like 680 and at a 1000 watts go FURTHER than a station high on the dial at 1500 and a thousand watts. I was writing way too fast.
I need one of them elephant hats....it'll drive my lib Kid nuts!
Later, Taters...

Good morning. A beautiful :sunspin: ny day with a deep blue sky in east central Wisconsin.
I was looking through my e-mails and there was one from Newsmax on health which stated something like "your sweetener is killing you," or some such hyperbole. I decided to take a look and see what was going to make me :dead: now and lo and behold, I saw this line here after several pages about how a person high in the government was responsible for this potential killer to be unleashed upon us.
In the early '80s, "Rummy the Magnificent" moved into the political arena. And one of the first moves he made was to appoint a new FDA commissioner. And guess what he did? In 1981, the new appointee approved aspartame for the good old boys back at GD Searle...despite the clinically proven dangers.
Emphasis mine.
His full name is never given, but this is what it says. I thought it was very interesting.
Tonight Colin's band plays in Green Bay. As the shower I'm going to is in a suburb of Green Bay I'm going to go see them until I can't stand the noise anymore. Their sound guy and me don't agree on what is an acceptable number of decibels. :laff:
M-L, very cool about your bass player. I'm sure he'd rather be playing with your band.
RW, just happen to have some lovely little :elefant3: brooches here which are being sold by our county party. May I interest you in our r/w/b/ mosaic :rwbelephant: or perhaps this little Swarovski crystal one? BTW, I drive down Drew street quite often on my way to visit my friend in the nursing home.
Quite the brangle going on in the Giuliani thread, so guess I'd better mosey on over there and see who's into the fray already today. I'm a better poet when I don't try. :biggrin2:

Hmmm...you think aspartame will kill you faster than fat? It's pretty much one or the other for a lot of us. :D

Charie, my house is the big Dutch Colonial on the corner. WONDERFUL house. Altho it was over 65 years at the time, it had central air and heat. High ceilings, crown molding, a HUGE kitchen and glorious hard wood floors. I LOVED that house.
It also was/is haunted.
Yup, there is one place in the kitchen where I would hear a baby cry. Since I had a neighbor who, in the summer, would mix herself a big blender of Margaritas, lay out in her sunny backyard to tan, and would let her tiny 18 month old wander the streets as she soaked up sun and booze, I would swear it was her tot. Sometimes I would find the tot wandering in street, but tot wasn't crying. That baby was the only one in the neighborhood. BUT when winter came and the air was still and cold, I'd still hear the baby cry. After I had my first baby there, and Baby was upstairs in the bedroom sleeping, I'd hear a cry, and I'd race upstairs and Baby was sound asleep. Many of those times, my big black Giant Schnauzer (who LOVED little kids) would growl and stare into space as I ran to see if Baby was crying. I'd hear it when Baby was sleeping in her playpen in the kitchen. Sometimes the dog wouldn't let me back into the kitchen and would growl at space until the wailing stopped. Or it would back up to the playpen, and stare into space, snarling and growling as if to protect my Baby from whatever was making the noise. It was creeeepppyyy to say the least.
I sold the house to an incredible woman named Cathy. She had three little children and was expecting twins. I felt I had to tell her about it. She roared laffing! "I'm about to have FIVE kids under age six, do you really think another baby crying is even gonna be noticed?!" I kept in touch with her for a few years, and she wasn't ever sure who was crying, "FIVE little kids, Deb, someone around here is constantly crying, and if it isn't a kid it's ME!" What a gal.....
It wasn't the first haunted house I lived in and it wasn't the last, but I sure liked it despite the sometimes creepy noise......
Yeah, I need some new elephants, mine are totally wornn out......

Howdy!!
Just returned from Indiana - My new granddaughter is beautiful :D - Nana is pleased!!
She lost down to under 4.5lb but is starting to put back on and looking pink - so  and whew!
Did you know Indiana does not serve sweet-tea, at least where I was, after the world stopped and the girls looked like this :eh: for too long I said just bring Ice Tea. Then the world started turning again and all was well, except that adding splenda to iced tea is not sweet-tea. Oh well, worth the sacrifice to see our newest  -baby :)
Uhmmm... :lookaround: I'd have to say -- SCHILLER, No More Fess Parker for RD and OW, my goodness - animals on thei heads and animals on their feets and :hilarious: - my goodness, I hope they didn't awaken hung over this morning :)

I have been to the Loft. It drives me bonkers reading what they are saying. I have tried to place common sense into their brains, but to no avail.

Great example. Especially the one condemning us all to hell. And then people wonder why it's so hard to convert non-believers. :shake:

RWIt also was/is haunted.Living in a haunted house can be interesting, especially if the ghost (for lack of better word ) is protective or friendly to family members.
We first knew for certain we had a ghost when we took a trip to Europe years ago and left someone house sitting for us. All went well until he had his girlfriend stay overnight. Our ghost didn't like it and let him know in no uncertain terms. I assume because they were unmarried.
He first noticed the dogs dishes were in the upper hall and he fed the dogs outside. It was August and heat was turned off, but he'd discover it was turned on repeatedly over the course of a day. Everytime he'd turn it off, he'd find it back on again.
The dining room chairs were moved to the outside areas of the room instead of being placed around the table as they normally are.
All that really made him a bit nervous, but he was still okay until he discovered my son's hamster's body torn apart and outside of it's cage, yet no animals were in the house.
Fortunately for him, he hadn't had his girlfriend stay over until the night before we were to return home. We had plans for him to pick us up at Bradley Airport, so imagine our surprise when we were paged on arrival at JFK Airport. He was so anxious for us to get home he drove all the way to New York instead of the 15 miles to Bradley. That's the only time our ghost has ever acted in a malevolent way.
Prior to Jim's scary experience and since, we have heard footsteps walking around upstairs, coming down the stairs, and even had voices greet us in normal tones, whispering, and sometimes someone will sneeze. Hubby and I have both answered these friendly greetings, only to realize no one was there.
These things happen when we can account for family members and they were/are no where near where the noises come from.
We have never talked about our ghosts when our little ones could overhear us yet :tails: asked me a while ago if I believed in ghosts and did one live here. Not wanting to frighten her, I skirted the issue and asked her why she was asking. She admitted she had heard things but they didn't frighten her.
I do feel our ghost is friendly and protective of family members and when we've had overnight guests, our ghost remains quiet and no one has ever encountered anything unusual. Call me silly, but I feel as if our ghost is here watching over us and just lets us know it's here. Don't know just how many there are, but it seems to be at least two and possibly more because of the voices we've heard. They make life interesting. :)
