Online Political Polls Skew Conservative - Study
Sun Jan 5, 4:14 PM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats and Republicans alike turned to the Internet for news during last fall's elections, but conservatives were more likely to weigh in on online polls, according to a study released on Sunday.
The nonprofit Pew Internet and American Life project found that the Internet continued to grow as a source of news and political information during the Nov. 5 midterm elections, as more users turned to their computers to look up news and research candidate positions than in the last midterm election four years ago.
But television remained the dominant medium, commanding the attention of 66 percent of adults on election night, the study of 2,745 adults found.
"They very much skew toward more conservative views," (http://story.news.yahoo.com /news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20030105/pl_nm/tech_elections_dc_1)

Conversely, are Republicans more likely to make their opinions known via the Internet, because they cannot stand to get their information from the liberal dominated media?

Even when a poll says the opposite of what the libs want it to say, they make sure to spend time "interpreting" it correctly so the public knows "what it really says".
No wonder a lot of people are tuning out of the mainstream media.

In 1948, running for President, Truman was on a whistle-stop train tour across the country, and at one stop, somebody yelled up to him, ``Give 'em hell, Harry.''
``I never give 'em hell,'' Truman replied. ``I just tell the truth and they think it's hell.''

It's very tempting to say that Republicans can read but to an extent it's true.
I think conservatives do read a lot more than liberals do. Liberals are more likely to be satisfied with sound bites than they are to really dig into issues.
The superficial person is more susceptible to the lightweight politics of the Dems.

Don't know if the GOPs have more http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/compute.gif. *Could be, but they're not so expensive anymore if you do it the way my fam. did for me. *They bought a refurbished one for $250. *A friend of mine had 2 printers she wasn't using so she gave me one. *A relative had a printer that they were trying to get rid of and gave it to me at $20 postage. *Voila, a complete computer for $270. *I've had it for a year now and never had any trouble *(keeping fingers crossed, knocking on wood). *Of course it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it suits me just fine until I learn how to run a computer. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif
Sorry, I went so far astray.
Flaguy, I think you're pretty close to the truth and hooray *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *Terri. *I like the cut of your jib and spinnaker (have no idea which is a jib and which is a spinnaker)
Ger67, I think you're right, too. *I think there's something for everyone in this story and none of it good for the Dems.
I suppose though, that it's a warning not to take polls that favor conservatives too seriously *and that can go both ways.
