WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ken Curley's private security company, Raymond Associates, received glowing reviews from the senior American generals it guarded in Iraq.
''Exceptional,'' wrote Gen. David Petraeus, now the top American officer there. ''The very best,'' added Lt. Gen. Martin Dempsey, who until June oversaw training of the Iraqi military and police forces.
Yet when military contracting officials had the opportunity to reward the New York-based company with another contract, they didn't. Instead, they gave the work to Aegis Defence Services, a British company with a growing presence in Iraq and a much less expensive offer.
