Subject: * Business Group Sells-Out Recall Effort *

Update from the Recall Gray Davis Committee
The Honorable Howard Kaloogian, Chairman

BETRAYAL!!!

Business Roundtable Group Votes
Unanimously to Oppose Recall!

Tuesday, June 10, 2003 – 10:30 P.M.

Over $500,000 Already Raised for
Anti-Recall Organization

Business Groups Sell Out to Gray
Davis & the Political Establishment
We’ve made some great progress this past week in stepping up our signature-collection efforts. We now have amassed more than 600,000 signatures for the Recall Gray Davis effort.

But there are some worrisome developments that we must face and confront.

First – The California Business Roundtable has voted unanimously to oppose the Recall of Gray Davis. The California Business Roundtable describes itself as:

“..non-profit, nonpartisan organization composed of chief executive officers of leading California businesses. Since 1976, the Roundtable has provided essential leadership on high-priority public policy issues. Through its "big picture," proactive focus on key business issues, combined with the prestige and influence of its members, the Roundtable is a powerful and compelling advocate for a strong economy and a healthy business climate in California.”

The California Business Roundtable not only endorsed the campaign against the recall, but put out a public statement proclaiming their opposition. You can view this statement which they have featured as the top news story on their website by clicking the following link:

http://www.cbrt.org/

Second – Some of these business leaders are now raising money to defeat the recall effort. Just yesterday we learned from the Secretary of State’s office that a $100,000 contribution was made to the Anti-Recall campaign by Zenith Insurance Co. of Woodland Hills.

This brings the total amount the Anti-Recall effort has raised to over $500,000 - in just one week.

Polls show the margin by which the recall effort is ahead continues to grow, but the leaders of the business community have sold us out so that they can try and cut sweetheart deals with Governor Davis in the event he survives the recall effort.

Governor Davis has destroyed the business climate in this state, which is one of the very reasons we launched this effort to recall him. Under Gray Davis’ disastrous failure to handle the state’s finances we face a $38.5 billion deficit, massive increases in taxes, and cuts to our education system which will result in less qualified people to fill the jobs of the future for our state.

2 Important Action Steps
to Take NOW!

If you are outraged by the betrayal of big business leaders in this state then please immediately take the following two steps to ensure that your voice in support of the recall effort is heard and is triumphant:

1) Please help to ensure we build the size and scope of our Recall Gray Davis Radio Ad Campaign that will begin on Tuesday of next week. To make a contribution to this effort (even if you’ve already made an initial contribution to this fund), please CLICK HERE

There is great news to report in regards to our upcoming radio ad campaign. We’ve already retained the commitment of two leading personalities in the recall effort who will be featured in the ads.

The hot-hot-hot hostess of hot talk in San Francisco, KSFO's Melanie Morgan, and San Diego’s #1-rated radio personality, KOGO's Roger Hedgecock, will both be lending their talents to our first Recall Gray Davis radio ad. Because of the addition of these two new celebrities we had to adjust our schedule and our radio ad campaign will begin next Tuesday.

We also have been provided free assistance for the production of the ads from individuals at two separate radio stations. By reducing our production costs we will be able to put more of our money into the actual airing of these radio ads on more radio stations in the state. Our media buyers are already placing the orders with over 35 radio stations throughout the state!

But right now I want to make sure that the business executives who are selling us down the river as they make a Faustian deal with Gray Davis hear first hand how frustrated and angry the people of this state are with Governor Davis.

So I would like to double the amount of money we’ve already raised for our radio ad campaign. I want to put our ads on more stations and I want to increase the number of days our advertising campaign will run.

To do this, I need you to make a contribution to our dedicated Recall Gray Davis Radio Ad campaign account. To make a contribution, click the Recall Gray Davis Radio Ad button below:

You may also mail in a contribution to:

RECALL GRAY DAVIS COMMITTEE
Attn: Radio Ad Campaign
P.O. BOX 1445
SACRAMENTO, CA 95812

I know from your letters that a lot of you are just as excited as I am about these radio ads. You are not alone. We’ve already been contacted by several national news organizations who have arranged for us to provide them with copies of our ads for them to broadcast on their news programs next week!

So please help me make sure that these terrific radio ads reach as many Californians as possible. Let’s show the big business leaders that our grassroots effort will triumph over their cowardly embrace of the failed status quo of Gray Davis. Make a contribution of $50, $100, $25 or more to our radio ad campaign by CLICKING HERE

We’ve already had several contributions of $500, $1,000 and $5,000. We will need more contributions of this size, and larger, if we are to reach our goal of doubling the size of our radio buy for next week. Take comfort in the fact that you will be paying for radio ads to be listened to by the cowardly CEOs who comprise the California Business Roundtable. They will hear the commercials while they are stuck in congested traffic stalled atop our deteriorating freeways.

2) These business leaders are living in their own little world of political elitism. They think they can simply buy favors from the elected leaders of this state. Yet they themselves will be the first to point to the disastrous failure Gray Davis has been as Governor.

My belief is that when these CEO’s voted to oppose the recall, many of them were unaware how much public support the recall effort truly enjoys. And I also believe it’s possible that some of the businesses who are members of the California Business Roundtable were not even at the meeting where this “unanimous” vote took place.

So let us make our voices heard. Please contact the businesses below who are California Business Roundtable members. I have collected email addresses, phone and fax numbers and street addresses for you to make contact with these corporations.

The objective here is to make these companies realize what a big mistake they’ve made by backing the anti-recall campaign. They made their decision because they believe the grassroots can never be organized in an effective enough fashion to make a difference. And therefore, they believe that by selling out to Gray Davis they will best serve the interests of themselves and their companies.

We must show them that the interests of California MUST be put first. And we must show them that by supporting the Anti-Recall effort they will be losing customers from Californians who have no interest in doing business with corporate executives who are in bed with Gray Davis.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES:

Be polite in your letters, faxes and phone calls.

When you call and speak to representatives of the company, explain that you are calling to register your disappointment or complaint with the company for their decision to vote to oppose the Recall Gray Davis effort.

If you are a customer of products or services of these companies please explain to them that their decision means you will seek similar products and services elsewhere.

Explain why you support the recall effort and why it is so vital that Gray Davis be removed from office for the betterment of our state, our economy, our schools, etc… Explain how this recall effort is all about taking positive action to bring positive change to our state! Reclaiming the California Dream!!
It’s important that these companies hear from as many people as possible. Please post this list to discussion group forums like www.FreeRepublic.com , Yahoo Groups, MSN Groups, etc…

Please forward this email to as many people as you can. Urge them to join with you in calling and emailing these companies and registering your opposition to their decision to support the Anti-Recall effort.

Update from the Recall Gray Davis Committee
The Honorable Howard Kaloogian, Chairman

Los Angeles Times & AP Wire:
“Business group says Gov. Davis'
foes have flooded members with
e-mail and phone calls since vote.”

Sunday, June 15, 2003 – 10:30 P.M.

Yet again – you have united in a just and honorable cause and worked together to make your voices heard!

This Saturday the Los Angeles Times reported on our campaign to contact the member companies of the California Business Roundtable and voice our fury over their “unanimous” vote to oppose the Recall Gray Davis campaign.

And a few hours later the Associated Press newswire, the nation’s leading news service, sent excerpts of the LA Times story to news organizations throughout the world!

Here’s the story about your great work below:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Retaliation Alleged on
Opposition to Recall

Business group says Gov. Davis'
foes have flooded members with
e-mail and phone calls since vote.
By Nancy Vogel
Times Staff Writer
June 14, 2003

SACRAMENTO — Californians seeking the ouster of Gov. Gray Davis barraged some of the state's biggest corporations this week with hundreds of e-mails to protest the companies' involvement in a group that opposes the recall campaign.

Hundreds of e-mails and phone calls have been sent to Bechtel, ChevronTexaco, Safeway and Southern California Edison, among others, to protest their association with the California Business Roundtable.

"I've gotten besieged with e-mails," said Doug Kline, spokesman for Sempra Energy in San Diego, who estimated he had received 100 electronic messages since Wednesday. "Most of them say something like we can't believe you've opposed the recall of Gray Davis. He's hurting small businesses."

The Roundtable has been one of the few business groups to take a position on efforts to replace Davis, a Democrat. Its members — who are the chief executives of approximately 60 large corporations — voted unanimously in a June 3 board meeting to oppose the recall campaign.

Recall proponents have until Sept. 2 to gather nearly 900,000 signatures to qualify a recall for the ballot.

In a memo to members Friday, Roundtable President Bill Hauck called the barrage unanticipated retaliation that has included "potential boycotts, mass e-mails, barrages of telephone calls and potential targeting of members in future paid media" advertisements.

In a telephone conference call Friday, Hauck said, members chose to stick with their original position on the recall campaign.

"It's important to emphasize that the statement was not an endorsement of any individual politician," said Hauck, a former staffer to Republican Gov. Pete Wilson and an appointee of Davis to the California State University Board of Trustees. "The statement was to the effect that this was not a good process for California to be going through at this point, given the budget and all the problems public officials need to deal with."

Hauck blamed the retaliation on the Recall Gray Davis Committee, one of three committees gathering money and signatures to support a recall election. The Recall Gray Davis group is headed by former Republican Assemblyman Howard Kaloogian.

"They have a Web site and they are ginning up through the Web site efforts to have folks that are for the recall barrage specific members of the Roundtable with e-mails and phone calls," Hauck said.

In an e-mail to supporters this week, Kaloogian's group attacked the Roundtable vote as a betrayal of business, and urged recall supporters to donate money to pay for advertisements.

Kaloogian said his committee has raised at least $450,000 since recall efforts began in February and will air radio ads throughout the state beginning next week.

"We've simply been letting people know what action" the Roundtable took, Kaloogian said. "The people of California responded appropriately."

He argued that the Roundtable's official position does not represent the opinions of all of the CEOs who belong.

"They stated that there was unanimous opposition to the recall," Kaloogian said. "That provides political cover to the governor. And it's not true."

Hauck said that roughly a third of the group's 60 members attended the June board meeting in Los Angeles at which a position on the recall campaign was unanimously adopted. He said such attendance is typical for a board meeting. The group, which does not give political donations, weighs in on policy issues that affect the economy and business climate, such as the quality of schools and transportation and water infrastructure.

Carroll Wills, a spokesman for Taxpayers Against the Recall Committee, characterized the e-mail effort as "a desperate sort of intimidation."

"The Business Roundtable is to be commended for its courage in standing up to this type of intimidation," Wills said. "There is nothing about the recall effort that would have prompted them to become involved except their strong view that this is not what California needs right now."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Besides being so proud of all of you for answering our call to action, I am also outraged that the position of the California Business Roundtable is to dig in their heels and restate that they unanimously oppose the Recall Gray Davis campaign.

This isn’t the first time that the California Business Roundtable has gone against principle to support the political ambitions of Governor Gray Davis.

During the Energy Crisis the Roundtable paid for radio advertisements that defended the Governor and his handling of the situation. This prompted the consumer-oriented Foundation for Taxpayer Consumer Rights to write the following:

"In the wake of the largest single electricity rate hike on California businesses, business groups should be up in arms about Governor Davis's energy policy. Unlike residential consumers, businesses receive absolutely no protection from the current round of rate hikes; businesses should be running ads against Davis's policy," said Heller.

One member of "Energy for California" is William Hauck, the President of the California Business Roundtable. According to the Roundtable website, its members include Edison International, PG&E. and Sempra. FTCR will write to the members of the Business Roundtable and urge them to renounce their membership in this organization, which appears to be protecting their utility members and Governor Davis in direct conflict with the interests of the rest of California's business community.

"It is reprehensible that a business group would defer entirely to the utilities and support ads that serve to politically benefit the Governor while ignoring the massive rate increases he is forcing on its business members," said Heller.

http://www.recallgraydavis. com/Link/615-1.htm

The CBRT’s defense of Davis instead of fighting for the interests of the people of California or a healthy business environment continues to this day.

The California Business Roundtable conducted a telephone conference call this past Friday and has chosen to stick with their opposition to the recall campaign.

If this is the case, then the businesses that are members of the CBRT need to know that Bill Hauck is stating that they are taking an official stance in opposition to the recall. The story in the Los Angeles Times reports that the membership of the CBRT is unanimous in this position. There have only been a couple of member companies who have come forward and declared their opposition to the CBRT’s decision.

Therefore we must assume that all of the other companies are in agreement with Bill Hauck's most recent statement. We must once again contact all these companies and put pressure on them to PUBLICLY disavow the actions of the California Business Roundtable. If they won't do it PUBLICLY, then we have to question whether or not they want our business.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So let’s add to the progress we’ve already made and step up our efforts!

First, be sure to call the President of the California Business Roundtable and let him know that his efforts to protect California’s worst Governor in history and destroy our state will not be tolerated by the people of this state.
Bill Hauck can be reached at the California Business Roundtable at (916) 553-4093. The Fax number is (916) 553-4097. The e-mail address for Mr. Bill Hauck is bhauck@cbrt.org.

Next, it’s time to contact a couple more California Business Roundtable companies and let them know what we think of their decision to oppose the grassroots effort to Recall Gray Davis and restore real leadership to our state.
We are adding two companies to our list of California Business Roundtable companies to contact. Today’s additions are Newhall Land and Verizon Communications. Both are California Business Roundtable members according to their list of member companies [see for yourself by CLICKING HERE] and are therefore presumably supportive of the “unanimous” decision by the CBRT to oppose the Recall Gray Davis effort.

When you're done contacting these two companies I would hope you would contact the other members of the California Business Roundtable that we are currently targeting. To do so, follow these links to be taken to the list of contact information for each company on our previous emails:

Hi,

I have mixed feelings about the recalling Grayout Davis. Of course I don't live in California and have to suffer the consequences of his incompetent and corrupt rule so I can afford to be dispassionate.

On the positive side, it is very gratifying to watch him fry in his own fat. Under his tyranny, the California budget has grown by about 80% and now about half of that spending growth represents the enormous $32 billion deficit. His self-made predicament is a huge embarrassment to the Democrats and should be sending a powerful message to the rest of the country to avoid leftest governments. His recall will compound that embarrassment and further enforce the avoid leftests message and I will be watching with quiet glee.

On the negative side, I wonder if it is good political strategy. David Horowitz describes the tactical problem in this article:

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2003/6/4/210634.shtml

On balance, I guess I'm more about good government then about making tradeoffs just for the sake of power so I guess I have to come down on the side of recalling the worthless SOB.

On a separate but related topic, California is clearly in tremendous economic trouble and no matter who wins power there, the solution is probably going to be found on the backs of small business owners. I would suggest that if you are a moderately wealthy small business owner that you flee. Wyoming is very welcoming to conservatives and we have a very business friendly climate with no income taxes. Just leave all the leftest thinking at the door and bring your longjohns.

Regards,
Jack

am not trying to change the topic, but just had to put this out. the clinton's will be popular in europe because those coutries are still living in the 1940/50's (britain lives like in the 70'), and the schmarminess of the clintons fits as well. this because europe views us as snobs, while bill is laid back. hillary's comments as usual are treasonous.

Hillary Clinton Attacks Bush,
U.S. Intelligence Services in
Overseas Interview
Urges a "Globalized and Integrated World"

U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton (D NY) has attacked U.S. President George W. Bush, and questioned U.S. intelligence effectiveness in an interview published in the online version of the German newsmagazine Der Spiegel.

Der Spiegel is Germany's leading newsmagazine, and is highly regarded throughout Europe. Clinton's remarks will gain a high degree of publicity across the European continent, attracting support within Europe's generally liberal political environment, where socialism enjoys wide acceptance.

While asserting her support for Bush in Afghanistan and Iraq, Sen. Clinton criticized present U.S. policy in Europe, and questioned the Bush administration's use of intelligence information.

Clinton stated that she was "not ready to answer 'yes'" to Der Spiegel's question whether misleading information was used to launch the war in Iraq.

"I know my husband received the same intelligence information [during his presidency as did Bush]." Clinton asserted that "the real question is have we obtained accurate information, or have the findings been altered for military or political purposes?"

Clinton also urged greater interdependence between Europe and the U.S., stating that America should seek "a secure and solid foundation" for relations with Europe, instead of "relying only upon our [U.S.] military strength."

Praising her husband's close relationship with European leaders during his period in office, Clinton declared that "for eight years we were on the right course to a globalized and integrated world - which is coming, one way or the other."

Clinton publicly revealed the foreign policy thrust of the Democratic Party in a remarkable moment of candor, a position Democratic leaders have not made clear to the public, but which is keenly understood and supported by Clinton.

Not only is a "globalized and integrated world" inevitable, it is a foreign policy priority of the Democratic Party.

According to Clinton, a single, unified world "is a perspective we Democrats have not successfully made clear."

In the Der Spiegel interview, Clinton asserted that her husband sought to pass "effective laws" and proposed "more money" to carry out the struggle against terror, but "the Republicans prevented" measures from becoming enacted.

Hillary Clinton, already considered an intriguing figure in Europe, will gain additional credibility as a stateswoman as a result of the Der Spiegel interview.

As Europeans become more familiar with Clinton and her views, their impact will be felt as they bring money and influence to her or a like politician's campaign.

The socialist European expectation will be that a Democratic victory will bring into power a U.S. government more to the liking of one-world European politicians.

Brisk,

I am glad I don't live there. The last time I went to SF it reminded me more of a bar scene from Star Wars then a third world country.

I personally think the place is so far over the top that there will be no return. It is a third world country and just hasn't figured it out yet.

I repeat my recommendation. Flee!

Bad moves, not economy, behind busted state budgets Governors, legislators failed to act quickly when boom began to fade, analysis finds
By Dennis Cauchon
USA TODAY

The financial problems racking many state governments this year have less to do with the weak national economy than with the ability of governors and legislators to manage money wisely.

That is the key finding of a USA TODAY analysis of how the 50 states spend, tax and balance their budgets -- or don't.

People are becoming outraged at the shocking news leaking from the Secretary of State’s Office. Democrat Secretary of State Kevin Shelley is making plans to obstruct the public will and ignore the 1,000,000+ recall petitions we have already collected. The signs point to his deliberately ignoring the law and California constitution to DELAY the election until next year – still hoping that legal challenges will totally destroy the recall effort.

We haven’t seen rigged elections like this since the collapse of the Soviet Union. We can’t sit by and allow the inside politicians to steal this recall campaign and destroy it.

There has been a great deal of discussion today regarding statements made by Secretary of State Kevin Shelley’s office indicating they plan to intentionally delay the counting and verification of recall signatures.

The Secretary of State’s office has made an internal decision to advise counties NOT to count and verify hundreds of thousands of signatures they have already received.

As reported today by the Sacramento Bee’s Dan Weintraub, the consequences of this will be severe:

If this ruling stands, it will delay considerably the verification process and the date by which the recall qualifies for the ballot. It would almost certainly delay the election until March.

Please read the entire column by Mr. Weintraub by CLICKING HERE (http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/insider/)

The worst part of this diabolical plot is that the Davis forces are planning to find a judge who is a political ally of Davis who to try and throw out the entire recall campaign! The politicians are afraid that the people have finally had enough and are about to take back their government. We can’t let them steal this from the will of the people.

ACTION ITEM #1

FLOOD THE SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE
WITH PHONE CALLS, EMAILS, FAXES

We warned Mr. Shelley’s office before not to thwart the democratic process of the recall effort.

This is his last chance -- Mr. Shelley must stop playing political games with the law. He must stop providing cover for his friend and failed Governor, Gray Davis. We have a duty, as does he as an elected official, to hold Davis accountable to the voters for his lies and deceit regarding the state’s massive budget crisis.

Here is the contact information to reach Shelley’s office and voice your protest. DEMAND that the counties follow the law and count and verify signatures on a continuous basis each and every day. No more stalling!:

ACTION ITEM #2

WE’VE STARTED A RECALL GRAY DAVIS
LEGAL DEFENSE FUND

Since this recall effort began we have relied on legal assistance to ensure that the effort could go as far as it has. Most of this assistance has been provided free of charge.

Today, I instructed our campaign leadership to set up a legal defense fund so that we can begin a full-time effort to fight the Davis Administration’s “illegal” or “questionable” attempts to derail the recall process.

Davis and his allies first started an anti-recall machine that promoted harassment drills around the state to intimidate and confuse people who were trying to sign a recall petition [At their website WWW.STOPTHERECALL.CO M they even post a hotline phone number where opponents of the recall are asked to call in locations of recall supporters who are circulating petitions. The Davis folks then send henchmen to harass and intimidate the petition circulators!].

They also circulated a bogus petition they identified on the streets as a “Davis Recall” petition to further confuse people who thought they were signing to support the Recall of Gray Davis.

You can read about this in further detail in today’s San Francisco Chronicle by CLICKING HERE (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2003/06/27/MN263113.DTL)

I know these accusations are true because hundreds upon hundreds of you have written in to tell your own first-hand accounts about the deliberate attempts by Gray Davis’ political campaign to deceive voters and intimidate recall supporters.

The Recall Gray Davis Legal Defense Fund will be vital for us to win what will surely be a messy political and legal battle between our committee and the Davis administration.

Now, please make a contribution – we need everyone to help – to the Recall Gray Davis Committee so we can put together a Legal Defense Fund and defeat any and all efforts to thwart the public will on behalf of the recall effort.

We really need each one of you reading to join in this cause. No contribution will be too small, and time is of the essence. We must be prepared to act by Monday of next week if the need arises.

Make a contribution here (http://www.recallgraydavis. com/Contribute.htm)

Gray's total mismanagement costs state millions of dollars

Gray is busy today with a media campaign in a feeble attempt to show leadership on the budget. The guv should concern himself less with photo ops and more with cleaning up the incompetence and waste that runs rampant in his administration.

Last week California was fined $62.5 million by the federal government for mismanaging the state's food stamp program.

"California's error rate in dispensing food stamps in 2002 was nearly double the national average....The state issued more than $172 million in coupons to recipients who were not entitled to them and underpaid others who were entitled by about $79.5 million....

"The state, which provides more than 1.7 million people with food stamps, has struggled for years to improve its track record. Last year, the federal government imposed a $114-million penalty on California, the biggest in the history of the program." (Los Angeles Times, June 28, 2003, Emphasis added)

But wait, there's more. Last year the San Francisco Chronicle reported California was being fined $100 million a year by the federal government for failing to adequately collect child support.

"During its first full year in operation, the new state department charged with collecting support for California children helped deliver $1.1 billion in monthly checks - 40 percent of what was owed, according to federal figures."

"Collections should...increase when the department creates a database to track deadbeat parents throughout the state, as required by federal law.

"The state does not expect to have one before 2005. Each year it doesn't have one it is fined $100 million by the federal government." (San Francisco Chronicle, January 5, 2002)

Gray's total incompetence in managing California has put the state - and children - at risk. Step back from the camera, Gray, and fix the mess you've created.

Davis Recall Group Claims Petition Goal (http://www.washingtonpost.c om/wp-dyn/articles/A7339-2003Jul3.html)
By ERICA WERNER
The Associated Press
Thursday, July 3, 2003; 10:47 PM

LOS ANGELES - Activists seeking to oust Democratic Gov. Gray Davis said Thursday they have turned in enough signatures for a recall election.

Ted Costa, coordinator of the Republican-led signature drive, said proponents turned in just over 1 million signatures by Thursday morning. Valid signatures from 897,158 registered voters are needed for the recall to make the ballot.

The signatures turned in so far have not been validated. Because some signatures will likely be found invalid, recall backers were looking to get 1.2 million. They need to submit the signatures by Sept. 2, but are aiming for a mid-July deadline to force an election before the end of the year.

"By this time next week I think we'll have more than enough," Costa said.

Quote[/b] ]I repeat my recommendation. Flee!

I did. A year ago. Couldn't be happier about it either.

But honestly, I'm not for the recall campaign. I think Republicans should just let another Democrat get elected to figure out how to fix the mess. Seriously. Why elect a Republican for all the Democrats to heave the blame of their sins onto them?! This is a perfect time for Repubs to step back and watch the circus of Dems actually improving the lives of everyone, as they SO represent the people. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

Once that happens, the Dems might realize that the only way to restart the economy in that doomed state is to allow people to spend the money they earn THEMSELVES. It would be a great lesson for them, and further proof that Republicans actually know how to run a state better.

Gray Davis is responsible for the water prices (MORE THAN DOUBLE that of the desert state of Arizona), the electricity prices, (again, MORE THAN TRIPLE of AZ), and the beauracratic red tape of increased and stringent smog checks. Rolling blackouts - with outrageous prices. And this man knows how to run the state? Puh-leese! And let's not forget gasoline prices were the highest in the country at one point, topping last year at $2.19 for the cheap stuff. My gosh, if you can't afford to drive, you better not stay home and turn the A/C on either!

And people thought I was nuts to move to the desert! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
