WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's former finance director has been indicted on charges of filing fictitious reports that misstated contributions for a Hollywood fund-raising gala for the senator, the Justice Department said Friday.

The indictment, rare for a political campaign, was unsealed in Los Angeles charging David Rosen with four counts of filing false reports with the Federal Election Commission. The charges focus on an Aug. 12, 2000, dinner and concert supported by more than $1.1 million in "in-kind contributions" -- goods and services provided for free or below cost. The event was estimated to cost more than $1.2 million.

The money from the fund-raiser went to Mrs. Clinton's successful campaign for a Senate seat from New York, the Democrats' national Senate campaign organization and a state Democratic Party committee.

Federal prosecutors, in an effort to keep Hillary and Bill Clinton out of the trial, presented a watered down case and Rosen was eventually acquitted. If prosecutors did their jobs properly, Hill and Bill would both be in prison for a very long time.

I believe they both keep dosiers on all their friends and enemies, so people are afraid to talk. How else can you explain neither one ever being charged with crimes we know they committed?

If they won't fight back how do they expect us to do it? No scruples on either side, all hypocritical. We have Schumer on one side opening his yaptrap critically day after day but have no one on the Conservative side taking any opportunity to do the same. What is the matter with people? Why isn't there more clamor? Do they truly just not care?

How many Republicans do you hear say "we are upset with our party so we are going to stay home and not vote" or threaten to join another party. Just hand the Presidency to a Dimwit on a golden platter regardless if they are cheaters, liars, or embezzlers.

It's very true that elected Republican conservatives don't speak up but how much concern is there among the grassroots about what Democrats are doing?

As far as I can tell based on posts in this forum and feedback mail whatever the Dems do is just fine with the conservative grassroots.

They never mention it. Their main objective is beating on Republicans, sending messages, or staying home from the polls.

Many, many conservatives would rather elect Hillary and her socialist/communist friends than vote for another Republican.

Not me--I tremble when I think of Hillary as President. I just can't figure out what the key to bringing her down. She's been implicated in a suspicious death, shredded evidence, got off scot free with stealing money from the people of Arkansas, won a Senate seat in a state she isn't even from, and she's still the Democrat's front runner.

It's entirely possible that they do have something on our elected officials that makes them run scared. After all, they (the Democrat hopefuls) have probably all signed deals with the devil.

They are the first in line to complain about Republicans campaign financing (or anything else a republican does), but if they are guilty of the same thing, they claim it is partisan politics and republicans are just being poor sports. The sad thing is too many Americans believe them. I have a theory about our public fool system, but that’s another story.

Why is anyone surprised? Haven't the Clintons been hanging with and utilizing these kind of crooks for a long time. They want power no matter what it takes. The real surprising thing to me is how the American people embrace this kind of behavior by continuing to elect crooks and scandals. Ted Kennedy is a prime example. Democrats love killers and embezzlers. Guess that is why they think they have a right to reach into my pocket on a regular basis.
