WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Wednesday encouraged his supporters to donate to his campaign in response to "hateful" comments from conservative author Ann Coulter.
It's not the first time Coulter has given the Edwards campaign a financial boost. In March, she called Edwards a "faggot" and the campaign used video of the comment to help raise $300,000 before the end of the first quarter.

Every time Coulter opens her mouth, Edwards gets money. Why can't Ann Coulter say something rotten about me?

It sounds as though they're making it out to be that Coulter is some how helping the Edwards' campaign deliberately.
In Ann's latest column (http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=21345 ) she wrote "As I was walking to the set, minutes before airtime, it was casually mentioned to me that Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, might call in."
It was a set up, and John Edwards is a lowlife for taking full advantage of the opportunity to make a few bucks by having his ill wife in on the plot to play the sympathy card.
Ann also stated:
"I doubled the ratings of the lowest-rated cable news show on Tuesday by agreeing to go on for a full hour to promote my new paperback version of "Godless" -- a mistake I won't make again."
Referring of course to MSNBC's "Hardboiled" with Chris Matthews.
I imagine Edwards is "channeling the spirits" to keep tabs on Ann's where-abouts in order to stay in the race funds wise.

More victimhood. Nothing resonates with liberals like a victim's sob story.
Ann was in top form on Mark Simone's Saturday AM radio show today (WABC770 stream 6 - 10 AM if you need something to wake up to on Saturdays).

Yes, it was a setup.
And Ann Coulter is a liability.

Kind of like sticking your finger in the light socket, eh! :hair3:

When Coulter appeared Tuesday on MSNBC's "Hardball," Elizabeth Edwards called in to ask Coulter to stop making personal attacks on her husband. The exchanged deteriorated, with Coulter shouting over Mrs. Edwards and demanding that the campaign stop using her name to raise money if they want her to stop personal attacks. Response to the controversy was so large that it repeatedly crashed the server for MSNBC's political blog Wednesday
I saw it and neither one of them was shouting. Elizabeth Edwards would not stop talking to let Coulter respond. Coulter did say to quit using her name to make money and then said never mind. There was no demand by Coulter that Edwards do anything.
Obviously the AP writer is an Edwards fan.

I agree, it was a setup.
Is Ann Coulter a liability? Maybe.
But, it sure is nice to hear someone put liberals in their place...Ann does an excellent job of this.
Edwards is going to need a lot more than Ann's help to win the nomination...he will need a miracle. And, I don't think one is going to come along.

We can disagree.
Ann Coulter is nothing more than an entertainer selling books and doing it by being as outrageous and offensive as she can get away with being.
Take away her long blonde hair and her bony angles and she'd lose 80% of her audience instantaneously.

Terri you are right about Ann being an entertainer. She is a riot. About being offensive, I could say a lot worse things about Democratic stances on issues. Embryonic stem cell research is nothing more than chopping up babies to experiment on the parts (talk of "Dr." Mengele!!). ect. ect. ect. A lot real nasty things could be said about liberals but the offence to most people wouldn't be worth it.:)

Ann is helping John Edwards raise money to stay in the race.
She's more useful to the left than she is to the right.
I know she makes a lot of money for her own bank account but how much money has she raised for a Republican candidate?
When your brand of entertainment helps the wrong side you become a liability.

You could very well be right I've been wrong before, but I don't think Johnny hairdo could possibly win the nomination. He could cost Hillary and Osama Obama a lot of money spent in the primaries fighting him and that is a good thing. He is a one shot wonder and is about as viable a candidate as McCain now is.:sly:

Let's not forget than Coulter is out and about selling her new book. The Coulter/Edwards relationship is symbiotic.

Doesn't really matter, Coulter is still of more value to them than to us.

Yep! And who is it filling her coffers while she fills Edwards? Not me but I bet I'm posting with some of them. :D

I do read her online columns and occasionally see her on Fox News and appreciate her sharp wit. The same with Rush and Sean, I don't however have the money to waste on their books.:o

I imagine Rush Limbaugh has galvanized Democrats too. For example, I doubt that Al Franken's book, Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot (http://www.amazon.com/Rush-Limbaugh-Big-Fat-Idiot/dp/0141018410/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5/103-2000186-7385427?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1183342458&sr=8-5) would have sold nearly as well without Rush's name in the title.

To some degree, perhaps. I don't totally agree with her tactics sometimes, but that doesn't mean that her targets don't deserve it. Why can't we have one attack dog? The opposition has a whole kennel full of them. Besides, her 'attacks' are pretty mild in comparison.
As for 'raising money for the opposition', do we believe their figures? Chances are very good that it is ploy to have her shut up so she wont be 'helping' them.

I agree with Terri. As much as I love Treason and believe it to be one of the best political books ever, Coulter is out only for herself. She doesn't care about the RNC, GOP or any local Republicans running for office. Yes, she makes valid points, but others do it better. If it wasn't for her sexy outfits and flipping of her hair (which she did incessantly during the interview) she would be pegged as the Roseanne Barr of the right. It wasn't even what she said to or about Edwards that was so bothersome, but the fact that she ripped on Bush and doesn't offer any solutions. She never offers solutions because her income is based solely on ripping people in half. It's fun for a moment and then the moment passes.
