Lanny Davis Quits White House Privacy Board

The lone Democrat on a White House privacy board has abruptly resigned, citing disagreements with the Bush administration over the board's role in protecting civil liberties.

Lanny Davis, a Washington lawyer and former Clinton White House counsel, said this week he no longer believed the five-member board was sufficiently independent to provide robust oversight of controversial government surveillance programs.

Leaders of the Sept. 11 commission pointedly criticized the board last week for not doing its job and questioned many of the findings in the board's 49-page annual report to Congress.

My first reaction was just like yours, Terri. After all, he was counsel to the president, who was Clinton at the time.

I decided to look up some stuff on him because I hadn't read anything on him in years. I found this and also an article on the Terri Schiavo case in which he said he thought her husband should have signed off on the whole thing and let her parents care for her.

As you can see by the following article, he's drinking the Leftwing Kool-Aid on the subject of who's the good guy and who the bad guy, but he did have his eyes opened during Joe's campaign. Although, you know darned well he's never heard Rush speak. He's just repeating what he's heard. To put him in the same caegory as Ann and especially Savage is absurd.

He sure sounds a lot more thoughtful than I would have given him credit for. However, he's still a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.

Liberal McCarthyism
Bigotry and hate aren't just for right-wingers anymore.

WASHINGTON--My brief and unhappy experience with the hate and vitriol of bloggers on the liberal side of the aisle comes from the last several months I spent campaigning for a longtime friend, Joe Lieberman.

This kind of scary hatred, my dad used to tell me, comes only from the right wing--in his day from people such as the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy, with his tirades against "communists and their fellow travelers." The word "McCarthyism" became a red flag for liberals, signifying the far right's fascistic tactics of labeling anyone a "communist" or "socialist" who favored an active federal government to help the middle class and the poor, and to level the playing field.

to level the playing field This seems to be just another way of saying "from each according to his abilities to each according to his needs."
