:flag17: Welcome to :gopusa:
Good Morning! :sun1:
Welcome to our new members. I know the action is out in the forum but our members make good conversation in here too. :chatter:
Big tornados last night. There were deaths in Oklahoma and injuries from a 500' wide twister in Holly, Colorado.
Some wacko in Connecticut led police on a long car chase and then claimed he was Dick Cheney when they finally drug him out of his car. :laff: Ok, so what is it that's creating so many :moonbat: if it isn't illegal drugs?
Jesse Jackson says he will vote for Obama. Surprise, surprise. Not!
Veteran's groups are urging the president to veto any Democrat timetables for Iraq.
There's lots of campaign news out in the forum. Find out who Dr. Dobson supports. You may be surprised. See who may run green and much more. :D
Words of Wisdom! "I think there are two very simple steps that should be taken. The first is to use a covert operation, or a special forces operation to knock out the only gasoline producing refinery in Iran. There’s only one. And the second is to simply intercede by Naval force, and block any tankers from bringing gasoline to Iran… And say to the Iranians, you know, you can keep the sailors as long as you want, but in about 30 days, everybody in your country will be walking." ~ Newt Gingrich :notworthy:
:jacka: of the Day! "On this very important matter, I would extend a hand of friendship to the president, just say to him, 'Calm down with the threats, there's a new Congress in town. We respect your constitutional role. We want you to respect ours.' This war must end. The American people have lost faith in the president's conduct of the war. Let's see how we can work together." ~ Nancy Pelosi :pelosi:
God Bless our great country. :flag19: May Freedom ever ring!

beautiful day in my corner of Paradise..
LuckyMe, I had the same problem with my kid on the homework thing when she was in middle school. NOTHING worked. She knew the material, but wouldn't spit it out. Her teachers were just as frustrated as I was. Finally her therapist said, "let her flunk. period. let her see the consequences first hand." So, I did. Her teachers still passed her into high school. She still occassionally goes thru the behavior again, but then makes a huge effort and gets A's to make up the bad grades.
Pool guy looked at the pool heater, it's not the heater, it's the electrical breakers, got shorts. He turned everything off so I wouldn't have a fire. Rats, just as soon as I get a little ahead, there it goes!
Off to pollute, then back to work.

So, Pelosi thinks that a bar room fight can be averted by showing the other guy your gavel and telling him to calm down? In this knife fight W has the big guns and we can only hope he is willing to pull the trigger on this stupid hammer head. President Bush should send Cheney to the Senate to preside over every minute of debate. Cheney should take Ws veto stamp with him and stamp it all over the bill before it goes to conference with the House.
Good thing Lott didn’t know that Webb’s office was full of loaded guns. Webb may still have some weapons in his office. The guy seems a little paranoid but there are some crazy people in DC. I think the Congress should give all elected official of the federal government the right to bear arms right out in the open.
Happy BD to Stormy and Ann. 39 already Stormy?

Go for it, Mary Lou. There's probably a tune about Ernie Banks, the great (and quotable (http://www.baseball-almanac.com/quotes/quobank.shtml)) Chicago Cubs infielder who used to say, "It's a beautiful day. Let's play two." In that spirit, all I can think of is John Fogarty's "Centerfield" (http://ynucc.yeungnam.ac.kr /~bwlee/lyrics/centerfd.htm). Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today."
Happy Birthday wishes to Stormy

Seasons change fast here. Two weeks ago we had so much freezing rain and sleet we couldn't clear it to get down the driveway for three days. Now it's all gone, the temperature inversion (or something) is happening on the lakes that brings the fish to the top ... and the bald eagles, seeing sushi on the surface where a week ago there was only ice, are putting on a show.
My trout season won't start officially until April 1, and I'll be changing into my waders and stringing up my fly rod right after Palm Sunday services. I rarely land a fish on opening day, but it's great to see old friends and field test new gear and locate the pinholes in my old waders. Like most things in life, it's never been the fish, it's all in friendship and in fishing.

Good morning,
:HB: to Stormy and Ann1.
Cheese, hope your Grandson does well with his new Roebuckers (I read a book years ago and that is what false teeth were called).
I feel like I am the only person who has never watched Olberman. Not sure I even know what he looks like. From what I read in here not sure I even want to try.
Generally, I tend to like Chris Wallace except I think he caves in too fast like he did with Clinton and one other Dimwit, Franks I think it was.
That kind of handles yesterday when I wasn't feeling real good. Somewhat better today.
Personally, I really don't care who Jesse Jackson is going to vote for.
I guess it's time to start the wash since I am a day behind.
I feel so bad for the victims of the tornadic activity out West. The pictures of the devastation are heart breaking.
Luckyme, you are indeed lucky to have teachers willing to work with you. My children never had supportive teachers and I was essentially told that they didn't have time to engage in any activity like signing homework assignments or alerting me ahead of time of any problems. They waited until the kid was failing miserably with no hope of ever recovering. These are children whose Father had passed away less than a year before these problems were arising. It was like they figured the kids should just get over it.
Why don't we hear about these Veteran's groups urging the President NOT to sign the Bill withdrawing our troops early on the Mainstream TV Networks. Oh what in the world is the matter with me, if it doesn't reflect the Dimwits attitude or platitude they don't mention it.
Have a good day. BBL

Good morning everyone! :sunspin: is out shining brightly but it's only 36 degrees. Hoping it gets warmer as the day progresses.
Not having animals in the pastures for the last many years weeds, brush, and smallish trees have sprung up. Son backdragged a fairly large section and it uprooted all that was in the way while it is still soft and damp from the frost coming out of the ground. We threw some grass and hay seed on the dirt and hope that takes hold before the weeds do. We'll have to do more but it's a quick fix for now. Got another load of wood from the sawmill so the inside barn work continues too. It's beginning to look like a working farm again. :woohoo:
:HB: Stormy and Ann1. I hope it's a :sparkle: day for both of you with lots of :biggringift: :cake: :f_bubbly: and :f_rose::sparkle:
ML, sounds like no matter which you choose, you will enjoy it.
RWPool guy looked at the pool heater, it's not the heater, it's the electrical breakers, got shorts.Trying to find a bright side.....I guess it's a good thing you discovered it isn't the heater before replacing it and finding it's an electrical problem. Even so, it's not what you needed.
Some wacko in Connecticut led police on a long car chase Just to clarify in case you were wondering, it wasn't me. :D
"On this very important matter, I would extend a hand of friendship to the presidentBe careful before extending your hand to her GWB, it could get bitten off.
jjI feel like I am the only person who has never watched Olberman. Not sure I even know what he looks like. No, you aren't the only one. I don't know what he looks like or the channel he is on and don't much care to find out. I've had enough with the lies they pass off as news or opinions.
Time for me to get busy. bbl

Sorry for the double post but I forgot this.
jjLuckyme, you are indeed lucky to have teachers willing to work with you. Yes, I've been very fortunate. Their teachers will call me during the day to let me know if there is a problem, have conferences with me, and go the extra mile. All of their teachers so far have been willing to do this. Every teacher so far has mentioned I am the only parent/guardian who shows an interest in their children and is willing to do whatever needs doing, so that may explain it.
If raising children isn't the most important job in life, I don't know what is.

Beatles, Rolling Stones, Aretha, Fleetwood mac, HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!
I had no doubt which you'd choose, M-L. I'd have done the same. :mdr11:
Happy fishing, AJ.
:fwork: :HB2: Stormy, and many more!! :HB2: :fwork:
And a big :HB: with :cake: :sparkle: and :f_bubbly: to Ann1. Come visit us, Ann and tell us about yourself.
Pjx, hope you have a good time on your vacation. Be rested.
Pelosi has no shame. If I were her I wouldn't be able to look the prez in the eye. For pete's sake, I wouldn't be able to get my eyes off the ground. Yah, yah, I know, pick them up and put them in your pocket!
Must go do some laundry. Or it's going to be nudist camp time around here and as it's back to traditional March weather it would be mighty drafty!
See you later.

GR, I moved your article to the Congress section of the forum.
As I always say....
The Precinct is a general chat thread about politics, news and whatever is going on in the lives of our members so the topic changes too often for indepth discussion of articles. Also, it is closed every night which severely limits discussion of articles.

Howdy,
Just a brief post to THANK ALL OF YOU so much for the lovely birthday wishes.
Have talked to my two favorite ladies--my older sister and my daughter. I don't think my boys have any idea when my birthday is--of course, I'm only 76--maybe, they'll find out before I have too many more. :laff:
Did anyone see my questions yesterday--what happens after the veto--I know the bill goes back to them, but what if they don't change it?
Love you all.

Thanks Terri, I’ll check the comments over there later.
Well Stormy, if the Congress doesn’t change the bill and send back a bill that President Bush can sign he will have to transfer money from the Congressional payroll to military spending.
This is over in the Congress threads but I think as many of as has time should send this link to our Senators.

Hiya. I posted an Action Alert last night, but now I can't find it. I guess it has probably been mooted anyway. I just heard Peter King on the Dennis Miller show saying that they had put the kibosh (so to speak) on the stupid bill! Can you imagine? a third of these super stupid demoncraps wanted to allow the 6 imams to sue the folks who had the effrontery to "complain" about their behavior in the airport and on the plane.
In my opinion, it's gonna take another major hit before the idiots in this country "get it".
Anyway, nothing much going on here, so the small talk is limited at least from me.
Y'all have a great day.

OR, your action alert is in Editorials on Political Topics, right where you put it. It has no history of being moved.
However, it's not an editorial and should be in the Activism section of the forum.
Edited to add: I found it by searching on your user name.

I wonder why I got the "alert" so late? Hmmm..... well, as long as it was blocked, that's all that counts.
Fred Thompson was just speaking about it too; he was rather perturbed about the 121 :jacka: es that voted AGAINST IT. Maybe somebody could find out who those 121 were and we could inundate them with :nahna: mail and tell them to WAKE UP AND GET A CLUE!
121 ... that's amazing that so many can be so stupid.

StormyDid anyone see my questions yesterday--what happens after the veto--I know the bill goes back to them, but what if they don't change it?
After the veto the bill would have to go back to congress and need a super majority to override the veto otherwise, the veto stands. The other option congress would have is to accept the veto and work on another military spending bill, leaving departure dates out of it.
I'm pretty certain that's what happens but Terri or someone else smarter than I am will correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Thank you all so much for the lovely Birthday Wishes!! You have no idea how much I appreciate them!!
Actually, I almost feel like a celebrity!!
But, I almost missed it--last night when I looked at my public profile, it had all the info on it, but my name wasn't showing up as having a birthday--so, I looked in my profile to see if it needed editing and, sure enough, the month had slipped out of place. So, it might not be a bad idea to check that every now and then to make sure we don't miss your birthday.
I have talked to Terri about this and she said it would be ok for me to share that with you since there's no possible way for them to check over 11K profiles and it really is up to us to keep them up to date--we'd really hate to miss anyone's special day!!
THanks again from the bottom of my heart!!
