TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UPI) -- Florida lawmakers in Tallahassee hope moving the state's primary up to Jan. 29 would give it more political clout.
The state House of Representative on Wednesday approved the earlier primary, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
"Florida is obviously going to be the big enchilada on the 29th. It will immediately become very, very important," Nichol Rae, a political science professor at Florida International University, told the newspaper.
