What's Happenin!

Chucky Shumer is calling for Gonzales' resignation  The old "politics before law" excuse :shake: Me thinks NY should fire Chucky next go-round.

FIVE HUNDRED HOMES EVACUATED in SOUTHERN CAL...Still fighting the massive fire.

Hillary says she is the JFK of '08--I guess that makes Billy--JackieO

Environmentalist wackos seem to be in full force--next . . . Germany may lower the speed limit on the autobahns.

I've been stuck with dial-up most of the weekend and even had a bit of trouble posting. Of course, as windy as I get that's impossible to believe, I know!

I'd never bop you in the head. You don't have to agree with me on everything. Remember I like football and you like shoes! That's okay!!! :D

Good morning everyone. :wavey:

I place bagels with a variety of flavored cream cheese in the lounge.

This afternoon, I have a doctor's appointment for my annual physical. I am permitted to have anything to eat or drink except water until after my appointment is over.

It is going to be 80 degrees today with no rain. Tomorrow, the temperature will reach 82 degrees.

RD, did you mean to put the Dole post in another thread?

It isn't likely to get much discussion in here and since we close the Precinct every night it won't be easily found for reference.

Saturday~
I say today is "Kick Mitch Daniels in the Pants" Day Now seriously - how many years of each surrounding state whining "But Indy don't have to do it" :tantrum: did it take to get this passed :winkie:

Mayan priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate 'bad spirits' after President Bush visits next week by sacrificing as many virgins as will come forward.
:rotflo: I vote for Virgins (if any exist there) sacrificing loudmouthed priests :)

ok - and on to
~Sunday

Don't forget! Set the clock forward or you'll be late for church! This has to be a mystery for the ages for preacher folk....
Spring - people late forget to move clock forward
Fall - no one early to help set up for church seems noone forgets to fall back.

Charie's Trivia!

Your Little Corner of the World

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/1.gifWhat product is your little corner of the world best known for?

Pork and Corn

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/2.gif What scenic place is your area known for?

We used to have the Bengals Training Camp, a wildlife adventure :laff:
We have a very historic area. We have more things available than I've visited.

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/3.gif Is there a famous person or persons associated with your area that no one out of the area knows about? :elvis:

Several, some good and some not so good. I guess that would be everywhere.

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/4.gif Does your town/city/rural area have a river running through it? Is it situated on a lake? Which one(s)? :drown:

We have several rivers and lakes.
My property is on "Greasey Creek" - don't know why it was called that. I have ancestors/family members who have waterways named after them in the most southern counties.

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/5.gif What is the name of your hometown? (You only have to tell us the town, not the state) Do you still live there?

My hometown is Martinsville. As with many young ones I got away - Nothing here, says we - but ya know, when it came time to raise a family - where did I migrate back to? Yup. Martinsville via Cincinnati.

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/6.gif If you could choose to live anywhere, where would you be?

WOW!, Tennessee and either of the Carolinas

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/7.gif What is your favorite vacation spot?

Easy - Tennessee and where ever my grandbabies are stationed

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/8.gif If your number came up on the lottery and your share was $250,000, what would you spend it on? :2cents2: Or would you invest it?

Invest most so that when I am old and grey - ok older and greyer - that no one will have to support me. Have fun with a little of it.

http://www.mountainsnmore.n et/gopusa/trivia/9.gif Somehow or another while on vacation we usually end up playing games. Do you like to play cards or are you more a board game type?

We play Cards, Dominos, Pool, sometimes board games, in the hottub, in the lake, in the ocean. :)

Great Trivia Q's Charie!!

:welcome: DinosaurTracks :wavey: , guess you've already figured out you are gonna love it here :)

(at least in the precinct)

I've been stuck with dial-up most of the weekend and even had a bit of trouble posting Still our world here, have spoken with several companies, even with the invasion of new builds in the are it isn't enough for them to even string RoadRunner. :shake:

Rykas... and if I remember correctly, it's a Christian owned company I did not know that. I'll have to give Rykas a look.

Okie Dokie, this is probably looong enough with the catching up and all.
Everyone have a great morning!!!!!

Wow, the Precinct is open early today!

Still dark in my corner of Paradise. No weather report yet, gotta go take my friends' prescribed walk before I go to work. And I ain't goin' until the sun comes up.

Made shepherd's pie for dinner, child let me get almost thru with it, until the mashed potato topping, then she put her marks on it. She reallllyyyy enjoys cooking. She made a determination to lose weight this year, by eating healthy. I keep NO garbage around here, the only place she eats junk is father's. He buys literally cases of pudding, but this weekend she resisted. She has 6 pounds to go before she gets to a mark that she hasn't seen since grade school!

Easy day yesterday, cleaning, here, kid home, bird noisy, dog lazy, just a nice Sunday. I'm rarin' for work now..

a little pollution music, Harry.........and off I go...

Good Morning GOP USA!! Behold, I bring good tidings of great joe.... :f_coffee:
39 degrees this morning in my part of the Mitten. We just don't know what to do with ourselves, in such warm weather. The snow is about half-melted off, and there is a lot of bare ground showing. We are seeing deer in the back field during the day again, the does are all eating for three and are very hungry. There are at least half a dozen grazin' in the rye right now. There are also some geese, checking out the pond. Maybe some day there will be water there to swim in--right now it's still frozen over.
Even with my alarm off, I managed to get up at 7:30 this morning. I don't think the time change makes any difference at all to me. Hopefully my folks at the home will get back on track.
Dinosaur Tracks, welcome aboard. Very interesting UserName--tell us about it if you've a mind to.
Gotta do laundry and work on show stuff today. Hope you all have a good one.
Blessings,
Sewing Susie :usflag22:

I did a little polluting and reading.

Susie, I can visualize your scenery right now. It sounds great seeing mother nature wildlife friends.

Yesterday my youngest daughter came by so that my two year old grand daughter could help the wife decide what to do with all of the baby palm trees that have come up in the front flower beds, so I decided to get them to help me push the trailer into the shop. I had already put a tarp over the prototype mold but it was looking like rain so we backed the trailer into the shop. It started to rain as we walked back to the house and it rained on and off the rest of the day. But last night it rained about seven inches. My wood working shop had three inches of water on the floor and the front yard looked like a lake draining into the river in the back yard. We had a lot of what the weather people like to call “dangerous lightning”. The four foot deep gully behind the house is still running three feet deep but last night it was six feet deep and fifty yards wide. I was expecting Noah to come by and pick up the cats but he must have gotten washed by to fast to grab them because they’re still here. I don’t know how my daughters faired; the rain was headed toward the youngest ‘s house and she had no power the last we talked to her.

Good morning from Vermont. It's now 36d and rising. Snow is on the way out. Now we are going to see all the trash that has been tossed out of car windows and the back of open bed trucks. Going to look like a city dump soon. Cigarette butts will stick to the bottom of shoes and will be tracked everywhere. It's spring time, I should be thinking of better things.

Wife and I would love to move south. I wonder if there's room for us in NC? We'd love to live in Asheville or Hendersonville.

Good afternoon everyone!

Spring is coming :excited: It's 55 degrees here. First we have to get through the muddy season when the frost seeps out of the ground and then the real spring will be here. :woohoo::boy: wanted to go without his coat which was fine, but I made him wear his spring jacket.

I took :tails: shopping Saturday and walked right into some nice sales. Bought her a $60. dress for church for $14.99, and 4 shirts for :boy: for $1.19 ea. He was happy as long as he didn't have to try them on. :D

The Dems weren't satisfied with getting Rumsfeld and Libby out, now they are going after Cheney again and Gonzales. We could see this coming couldn't we.

I didn't know, Stormy. Thanks.

I've been trying to do some research on Fred Thompson. He's only been married to his present wife since 2002. He does have 2 grown sons and 5 grandchildren. I can find no mention of a first wife but I did see a site that spoke of him having children from marriages/relationships. Sounded a little ominous to me.

I don't worry about the personal lives anymore. I figure if they made it that far they probably paid someone off somewhere along the line or had at least two wives and some have more.

Look at Clinton, he's only had one wife.

Besides I figure the dimwits can do it all they want and no one will say anything. Only Republicans get kicked out of their jobs, or kicked out of Congress for any perceived "sin" or infraction. The dimwits can say anything they want to say as well, make an apology and go on, but not a Republican.

I am kind of ticked off today, can't you tell?

If one is going to let how many wives a man has had predict who they will vote for then vote for Romney or one of the ones who has had only one wife. I want to know where they stand on the issues.

Ben, I doubt it - seems like all the land and homes are being purchased by Yankees. Notice how nice I was and didn't say D----- Yankees.:D Since the big influx of Yankees, a $50,000 house 10 years ago is running in the range of $130,000 to $150,000 and thats not much of a house. If you have the money there are plenty of places and they are building new ones every day. My wifes childhood home is north of Asheville and my father was born up in the NW corner of the state. Its beautiful country and our favorite vacation spot.

Thanks DA. These prices are cheap compared to Vermont. There's nothing under $200,000. We would be looking for rentals anyway. We would fit in great there since I was born and raised in Virginia and wife is from Oklahoma.

According to IMDb (movie database), Fred Thompson's been married twice. The first marriage ended in 1985 and he remarried in 2002. There were three children with his first wife (one, a daughter) died and one with his current wife. Earlier today, I saw the reference to "marriages/relationships" but the site where I saw it has removed it.

Earthquake in Ohio? Haven't felt a thing. We felt one that occured on the New Madrid years ago, some hours later I was in the basement and felt a motion, and thought my joker of a BIL was pulling one of his usual--but when I looked around, no one was there :yikes:
I went to the Fox 8 website--they had a poll going, on whether one felt it or not--I voted no :D
Der Alte, I think half of my state is headed your way. There are jobs there!! My SIL says I could do great around them. There are no opportunities here. Sonny-boy is already figuring that when he graduates college, he will have to leave MI for elsewhere in order to have a life.
Tell you a secret--the land that we paid $800 an acre for 18 years ago, within 6 years was going for 8-10K an acre. Good thing we bit when we did, or we would still be trapped in the metro.

Happy Birthday to our exalted and fearless leader Bobby, and many more.
I am contributing a large plate of my famous fudge for the party. I will have to get out my blue shimmer shirt that I made.
Got Bible study this morning, then into GR to run around a bit, then I am going to my Dr. to get yelled at cuz my lipids panel is out of whack. Whatever whack is  I was a bit nervous cuz she said that back in Sept. my liver enzymes were a bit elevated, but they are normal now so :gag: I have some articles about metabolic syndrome to show her. I have 4 of the 5 markers for it, the only one I don't have so far is elevated blood sugar.
Dehydration is a common problem in the elderly, they forget to drink enough or just don't want to. And in a hot dry climate, you can get sick in a hurry. They have to push the water at the home, it's sooo warm and dry there. The staff all have big water jugs to sip on, and I carry a huuuge mug of cold tea on my cart.
Gotta get going--will try to :pop: in later. :wavey:
