:flag17: Good Morning :flag17:

Welcome to all our new members. We're glad you're here.

I'm fighting a very balky laptop this morning so I'm going to depend on all of your to bring political news to the Precinct. :reporter:

I'll post a few things out in the forum. Just read slowly....... :D

:flag17: Keep your flag flying high! :flag17:

Words of Wisdom: "No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders." - Samuel Adams

:jacka: of the Day: "Someone I believe should call for the impeachment of George Bush to let the world know…I’ll tell you why. Listen…I think we should do it so the world knows that the nation is not standing behind this president’s choices, that the nation, a democracy, feels differently than the man who was leading as if it were a dictatorship, and that we represent this country. He does not lead as a monarch." Rosie O'Donnell

God Bless our great country. :flag19: May Freedom ever ring![/b][/color]

It is rainy, cloudy, gloomy and :cold: outside. Tonight, our area will be under a freeze warning.

Today and tomorrow, a country music station is doing a radioathon for St. Jude's Children's hospital.

that the nation, a democracy, feels differently than the man who was leading as if it were a dictatorship
I swear, these people are an absolute disgrace to our Republic. She should follow the democratic rule of "Do as we say, not as we do".

In the News:

President Bush requests to have a restraining order put on the smurf Dennis Kuspinach. Since the SOTU address, Kuspinach has been accused of staulking the President and the First lady. Bush claims that enough was enough when he discovered the staulker in one of his socks while placing it on his foot. Kuspinach declined to comment.

In other news;
Vice President Dick Cheney flips McCain the bird after McCain charges that Cheney played a major role in convincing the President to go to war with Iraq, and how Rumsfeld and Cheney failed to see all the potential mishaps that is unfamiliar to those who know how to fight the perfect, deathless wars that Senaturd McCain and others have apparently fought.

Cheney making news elswhere.
Conservatives are angry over Cheney's latest attempt to reach across the aisle when inviting Hillary and Bacrock Osama to a private gathering to debate the war on terror in a secluded hunting area.
Still unknown whether or not the offer was accepted.

Mornin!!

It's SOOOOooooooo Pretty outside!

We have "Ice Fog".

It's like white cake frosting all over everything.
The snow is melting and the humidity is high enough to make fog, which re-froze.

It looks like heaven.

http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b325/CSchultz2588/th_fogontree.jpg

I had a busy night. I put a new hard drive in my computer, 200gig and added a DVD burner and a gig of ram.

She seems to be running fine today. Just alot faster. I set the hard drive up as a slave and dumped a bunch of stuff on it from the C drive. That helped out as well.

Some guy in Topeka had a run in with a couple of cowboys in a bar last week.

Last night he spotted them coming out of the "Electric Cowboy" and rammed into their truck several times while chasing them through town.

I'm glad I dont go to bars anymore.

School time.

See Ya!

Morning, all!

I stuck some breakfast tacos and salsa in the kitchen, courtesy of the annual Cowboy Breakfast here in San Antonio.

Each year, the North Chamber and others gather donations and cook a free breakfast for the public, South Texas Tex-Mex style! This is the traditional kick off to Rodeo here in SA.

Tomorrow is the day...

Here are two good stories about the event... which is across the highway from my office (convenient, huh?)

http://www.texashighways.co m/currentissue/destinations.php?rid =311&region=5

http://www.mysanantonio.com /specials/rodeo/stories/MYSA011907.WK.johng. 705267.html

"Tasty food cooked on the premises—breakfast tacos, sausage-stuffed biscuits, and S.O.S. (ground beef and cream gravy served on a slice of bread)..."

(I'll let someone else tell you what SOS really stands for, but a hint is that the toast or bread is called a 'shingle.' Ask any Army veteran for the graphic description!)

A few years back we made the World record for most served in a single hour: 18,941 hungry munchers! (not counting seconds!)

This year we plan on feeling in excess of 30,000 people.

So enjoy the little preview!

Good morning everyone. :sunspin: is shining brightly, but it's misleading. It's :cold: outside, and will be much colder before it begins to warm up. Despite global warming, this seems to happen every few months. :lookaround:

RD, I hope your little guy feels better today. It's always tough when our little ones fall :ill:

RW, having been to court many times over the years because of the kids mom, sometimes it's better without an attorney. You can tell your side of the story and the judge will allow it because you don't have the legal background. Good luck and prayers for you. Hope you get something straightened out today.

In our case, the mom would tell some whoppers, but there was a huge file over the years and the judge didn't buy her stories......but she tried. :laff:

Danny, you've been busy this morning I see. :rotflo:

Slickwilly, we have SOS on Saturdays quite often if we don't go out for dinner. It is one of my favorite meals. And yes, I do know what SOS stands for. :hehe:

Are they all going to be female and you're just trying to live up to your name?

No, but that is not a bad idea... if we could keep the men folk from showing up! :p

Actually, my name sake is in the news again (he cannot stand not being in the news) with a strange story: He is being harrassed by sexy stalker women!

http://www.dailyindia.com/show/107022.php/Flirtatious-females-are-Bill-Clintons-greatest-security-threat!

One wonders why this is a problem for old 'Willy... seems to me that this is what he lives for!

I see the typo in my original post, and have decided to leave it as it is, in the spirit of my namesake, who I am sure had topped that number before leaving office...

Boy, talk about a news day here in Idyho today.

Yesterday, there were two men murdered in a house (not near me, but in Boise) and they found another guy running around NUDE in the neighborhood - temps about low 30s - I'll bet he was cold! Anyway, cops arrested and charged him with the murders after he led them back to the house.

Now, there's another investigation going on in another part of town that involves a house where a woman and a boy are said to be living. No details yet. Good grief, everybody is going nuts.

After Carry spent what seemed like an hour telling the Senate how he was right when he didn’t want to vote for the war but did because Bush tricked him, he gave us his plan which was a copy of President Bush’s plan that the dem say has failed. Then Reid took the floor to tell us that Carry was a real war hero for shooting a wounded boy in Vietnam. Reid said several times that Carry got two Siler Stars for bravery in combat.
Flat proof that the one Demoncrap will lie and another will back him up!

Schultzie, you "sleigh" (slay) me too! :pfft: What pun! I haven't had so much pun in a long time. Seems like we have lots of punny people in the Forum today.

RD and RW - you have my prayers and sympathies. I hope things begin to get better for both of you.

I'm just having a wunnerful day...NOT...just came back...hubby and his new lawyer AGAIN proposed he come home and "take over the business." I don't mind him taking over a biz he has admitted in open court he knows nothing of, I could use the break...provided he supports me...but to come home? That would be a disaster.....we have too many "accidents" around here. I have to find some money and get a decent attorney....I was given 30 days to get an attorney and get this divorce over with....

Lordy, it's cold, wet, and rainy and basically nasty.

And that's just the weather!

Good grief, I think I moved to the crime capital of the country.

Now, they've discovered a dead body (appears to be another homicide) in the home of the woman and the boy that I told you about earlier. They don't say yet who it is, (the woman, the boy, or somebody else).

Also, a couple of teenage boys this morning came upon a 12 year old boy working over a 5 year old girl in an alley! Apparently, the boys were able to hold the 12 year old and comfort the little girl until the cops got there. There's talk now about honoring the teens for their good samaritan intervention. No word on whether the 12 year old was trying to rape her or what...just that she was unconscious and the teens stopped the 12 year old and held onto him for the cops.

This is just goofy. In Boise, Idaho...who'd a thunk it? I'm sure there will be more details on the 5 o'clock news. Will let you know what the scoop is when I hear it.

I didn't get back until about 2 a.m. this morning. :fire: Thanks to the bunch of idiots I work for in the home office. Absolute IDIOTS!

Anyway, my meeting went well last Friday with the investor. We're meeting again in a couple of weeks to discuss further the idea of starting a new business. :crossfingers: I wish it was MUCH sooner.

Other than that, please send prayers so I can figure out how to pay my bills the next two weeks. Money's tight for reasons that are too long and boring to get into.

Take care y'all!!!

Hi everyone. :wavey:

I am home from school.

Today, we had a business academic advisor come to talk to us for 15 minutes. I went to see him after class about what I should take for Summer term.

He told me summer term is only 12 weeks long. He advised me taking two easy courses next semester. Then, I will go back to him before summer term is up to receive advisement on what to take in the fall.

Class was about social responsiblity and he touched on the next chapter. Then, I went to the :compute: lab and received help on Powerpoint.

A quick look around before I recopy my notes and begin reading chapter 3.

Danny, a big  on the news. :laff:

They installed a new automated phone system in the city - Bugs and All :laff:
Just one more thing to check (voicemail) and one more thing to frustrate the general public. :shake:
I know I get :madgo: wading through endless press # and type the first three letters just to get to a desk where voicemail answers.

:eh: I am beginning to see that I have more and more pet-peeves these days :)

Me, too, TGImR! Phone systems get worse every month or maybe it is as fast as every day.

I got my telephone bill on Saturday, December 30 and it was due on Saturday, January 6. There was no mail on the 31st, the 1st or 2nd. I'm not sure exactly how the phone company expected me to get it to them. I thought about mailing it on the 3rd, but the late charge would still be mine regardless of why it got there late.

So I called. AT&T has an automated payment line, but you don't push numbers, you talk. Pushing numbers would have been so much easier. Everytime I said, "I want to make a payment," their phone system said, "I'm sorry, but I can't understand you, please say it again." This would happen once or twice and then it would forward me to wait to speak to a person and then I'd hear a message about excessive call volume and I'd have to wait 12 minutes.

I waited 20 minutes and still no person, so I hung up and called back.

They answer the phone in English and Spanish. I have no idea what they are saying in Spanish, but when I said, "I want to make a payment," it responded in Spanish.

I hung up and called back. Same thing happened again.

After about 5 more attempts, I finally starting saying "English" before I said another word. It still talked to me in Spanish at every attempt.

I had about 10 more times getting spoken to in Spanish, then it finally told me in English again that it could not understand me and told me I'd need to wait 12 minutes to speak to someone.

After about 2 hours, I tried to pay my bill online. The only way you can do that is if you give up receiving bills through the mail, but why not, if they are not going to mail them out soon enough that I can pay them anyway.

Their site was down, so I gave up after a few attempts to pay online.

I was trying to get ready to leave for Florida. I hated wasting all that time.

I had to leave the house by 5:15 am on the 4th to go to my sisters as we planned to leave at 6:00 am. I made one final attempt by phone a little before 5 am and it finally worked.

I'm sure their phonelines and online was overwhelmed because they'd mailed their bills out so late with no time to get them paid on time but I cannot imagine what kept switching me to Spanish.

At the end of the payment process, their phone system asked me to rank my payment experience with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best. I ranked it as 1 since I'd wasted over 2 hours during which I could have been sleeping the night before.

I'd sure love for someone to contact me about that rating, but I doubt that they care.

Anyway, I hope your phone system is not as bad as AT&T's. But then I think about a phone company having one of the worst systems and I cannot imagine what company or organization would have a good one. You'd think in a nation where we can send men to the moon, that we could figure out a way to answer the phone!

slickwilly
01-25-2007, 04:02 PM
Oh, Speedy, that was hysterical! :rotflo:

Since I work for a (small) phone company, I am sensitive to such issues (we have locked our customers in 'voice mail jail' before) - and thought I had heard it all...

The Spanish part was just the topper!

Let me tell you my call center horror story:

I was calling my HMO (who really wanted to talk to me, don'tcha know) and got into their system.

I could not get the voice recognition software to understand me, and they had disabled the ability to use touch tone (the numbers on the phone). Of course, asking to speak to a person was never an option they mentioned.

So after 20 minutes or so of this crud, I said "speak to a person." The system "did not understand" me (I'll just bet that stupid robot knew exactly what I wanted: it was after job security and did not want to report it's mistakes...)

I tried all kinds of variations to get to an operator, and finally muttered under my breath something like "<unprintable, improbable and physiologically impossible> computer" (yes, I was cussing :o )

IMMEDIATELY I was told I was being "switched to an account representative," and that I had been selected to "participate in a customer service survey at the end of the call."

The silly thing had been programmed to recognize frustrated cursing! :p

After I finished the call, and took the survey (given by a machine, of course, and don't you know I blistered its little electronic ears!), I called back and started my call with a single curse word.

Again, immediately I was told I was being "switched to an account representative," and that I had been selected to "participate in a customer service survey at the end of the call."

They really DID program curse words in as keywords, but not the phrase 'live person!' :hair_fire:

Which tells you what their real interpretation of 'customer service' was...

(Yes, I took the survey again... with the same results :D )

I am beginning to see that I have more and more pet-peeves these days

Isn't that a sign of getting old? Either you are getting inflexible, or just accumulating more exposure to those things deserving of that rating... :rotflo:

Slick, it took me forever to find the typo, but it is a good one!!! :laff:

Glad you left it!

Those frustrations are nothin compared to mine...I guess I am about to break the rules again but...here goes...You all know how long we have been in Iraq... and almost every day the media tells us about a roadside bomb killing one or more of our military people...and then there is the daily car bomb..killing and maiming hundreds....but after all this time nothing is being done about them except hoping you are not in the vicinity when one happens....each day I hear another one of these I go almost mad...why does our military have to drive on the side of the road...and why do they still allow those people to drive anywhere...I was in Berlin, Germany after the end if WWII....the Russians did not allow the Germans to use any vehicles in the Russian Sector...In Iraq it seems they do not want to stop the carnage....they do nothing to interfere with these insurgants....the only reason I can give is they don't want to be sued by the ACLU...there just isn't any other explaination why this is being allowed to happen every day with the tremendous loss of life.....I am beginning to think our country is SICK!

Politics is fascinating to watch. Observe all the Democrat knuckleheads tacking left and supposedly espousing all the hard left nonsense they possibly can -- under the hopelessly errant belief that America is suddenly becoming all granola-headed and lefty due to dissatisfaction with Iraq.

Check this out (NewsMax):

Hollywood is jumping off the Hillary Clinton bandwagon and jumping on Barack Obama’s – three top movie moguls are throwing a fund-raiser for the Illinois senator.

You know, while Hillary may look upon this as a calamity, in a strange way it makes me loathe her less.

Just think about it for a moment: In a time of war, these idiot Democrats think America is seriously considering moving left. It makes NO sense given the left's demonstrated inability (Carter) and unwillingness (Clinton) to defend our country.

Again, fascinating...

Thanks for the hint. I'll try that with AT&T some day to see if it works.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only person out hear who is frustrated with the voice recognition stuff. When it works, it's great, but when it doesn't, I can't stand it. They should keep pushing numbers as an option as it is better than going totally nuts!!! (and I don't have that far to go!)

Boy, "New Day in The Precinct" is putting it mildly. Just watched the 5:00 o'clock news. They arraigned the "suspect" who murdered the two men. The reporter said that he was running around nude, quoting scriptures! It was also reported that the local police had never seen such gruesome murders in all of their careers.

The third murder WAS of the woman that lived in and did her walking in her neighborhood. She is apparently unidentifiable until they do an autopsy. They have a suspect in custody. The woman has two teenage sons; no mention of their whereabouts.

The little 5 year old girl was apparently beaten within an inch of her life. The teens who were taking a shortcut home from school came upon the scene. One called the police and the other chased down the 12-year old and held him. The teens thought the little girl was dead. They were told that another 10 minutes and she would have been. She was nude except for a little T-shirt and stuffed partly under a bush. The 12-year old is being charged as an adult!

What a day. Those poor people. What is it in the human heart that is so diabolical, so brutal and so absolutely lacking in any shred of humanity? I know, I know, it's a rhetorical question. No one needs to feel they have to answer that. I know the answer. I guess I just can't get over the wanton, unreasonable cruelty.

I hope when I go back and read some of today's posts ... there is some good news. Boy, I'm overloaded on bad and I could really use some good!

Good evening everyone. I find it very heartening to read that AT&T is still maintaining it's wonderful customer service. We have just been stuck with them again, as BellSouth sold us down the river, and the stupid FCC went along with it.:pfft: I dumped their long distance service several years ago due to their billing screw ups, now their our new local, and long distance providers. Now I'm trying to find a way to get a different phone company, without going completely wireless. The only problem is to have broadband internet out here you have to get either DSL, or satellite connection. The wonderful world of truly wireless internet(Verizon wireless) hasn't reach this far out in the boonies yet. Oh well, if anyone here screwed by this merger has already figured it out please let me know.
Got to go, dinners ready, homemade chicken pot pie tonight, yummo! I hope to be back later this evening.

Boy, I'm overloaded on bad and I could really use some good! Nope; nothing that could be classified as "good news".

I've had my share of frustration with the "push this button" garbage too. I usually push the "0" until somebody real answers - then the first thing I tell them is I want to register a complaint about their "answering" procedures - before I go into the reason I called. Maybe if we do that enough, they will start wising up and hiring competent, English-speaking operators again!

Another pet peeve of mine is to actually GET a live body and not be able to understand a word they are saying; usually because of a heavy, heavy East Indian accent. Those I won't even bother with. My blood pressure doesn't need the aggravation.

In regards to AT&T, I detest their long distance branch which is separate from the local service branch who also offers long distance so it confusing. The local company used to be SBC and they are better since AT&T bought them. Their automated system sucks beyond all imagination. And they have a few idiot employees but most of them are good if you can get one on the line.

I had one particularly bad experience about a year ago with one of their employees. Apparently supervisors monitor their calls. A supervisor called me back and apologized for the employee being rude. He also handled my problem which was they had mailed a modem without a built-in router. I simply needed return instructions and a replacement with the correct modem. The supervisor got it handled in no time while the other employee told me over and over it was my fault and I was stuck with the wrong modem and I couldn't replace it under any circumstances regardless of what I did.

I'm sure they fired that particular yahoo. The supervisor even made arrangements to have me call him when the new modem came so he could give me help installing it.

It came and I was about to look up the number when he called me to see if it was here yet. I should have gotten his name. He was great!!! I also should have written AT&T and told him he was great!

You're not as far out as we are--we have no DSL here. Hubby finally traded our ssssssllllllloooooow wwwww dialup for satellite. It's not too bad, but I can still get in a game of Spider while I'm waiting for pages to load. Sad, huh? We have no cellular signal here either.
Better totter down the hall before I  at the computer. Nitey-nite! :wavey:
Blessings,
Sewing Susie :usflag22:

I'm with you! Back in 2005, when I was hit with Hurricane KATRINA, the jerks at AT&T turned off my long distance service and charged me a $25.00 fee. When I explained it was due to a hurricane that the bank did not process my deposit and thus bounced my check), the idjit at AT&T responded, "You didn't get no hurricane in Florida! The hurricane was in N'awlins!" It took me FOUR MONTHS to clear that one up, and i switched to bell South. NOW I'm with AT&T again! Arrrggghhhhh!!!!!!!! !

Anybody hear the flap about SanFranNan's daughter Alexandra making a movie about evangelical christians? It's called "Friends of God". I guess she did a fairly decent piece, but the libs in the media are having a "heyday" with their rendition of "radical Christianity". Gee, ya think? I would have been flabbergasted if they hadn't. BOR did a piece on it tonight and laid into a couple of lib writers.

Also, tonight on Hannity & Clone they were carrying advertisements for the Hannity's America show re: a "missing" segment of a CBS video on Clinton's failure to get bin Laden. THAT I'd like to watch. However, they didn't give any date or time that they would be showing it. Anybody know when that's gonna be? Also, haven't seen any more about Brigitte Gabriel being on this weekend. Anybody got a handle on that?

Appreciate any info on this. Thanks.

If the hard core Hollywood liberal horde dumps Hillary like last year’s starlet I don’t know what she will do or how I’ll be able to stand it.

Maybe if she got a face lift or somethin' they'd take her back

Good morning everyone. :wavey:

I placed glazed croissant donuts in the lounge.

This morning, I have to be at work before 7:00. I enjoy working this shift, since I will be off at 4:00. Then, I will come home, go for a walk and read chapters 3 and 4 for next week's lecture.

Yesterday, we learned before we can receive our degree, we have to take and pass an ILAS exam.

Good Morning!

Hope I have better luck than when I arrived home at 5pm yesterday and started to post..and then started getting 'page not found' and other 404 type errors everytime I pressed submit :shake:
another peeve I guess :eh: the love/hate relationship with computers.

So I called. AT&T has an automated payment line, but you don't push numbers, you talk. Pushing numbers would have been so much easier. Everytime I said, "I want to make a payment," their phone system said, "I'm sorry, but I can't understand you, please say it again."
:aarg: Yes Yes Yes!! Don't you find yourself over-articulating trying to make a machine understand you :shake:

I tried all kinds of variations to get to an operator, and finally muttered under my breath something like "<unprintable, improbable and physiologically impossible> computer" (yes, I was cussing :o )

I'll have to remember that :laff: good info!
and I was :rotflo: all over the place about your "Feeling so many people" yesterday - I just couldn't get the post to take.

I am beginning to see that I have more and more pet-peeves these days

Isn't that a sign of getting old? Either you are getting inflexible, or just accumulating more exposure to those things deserving of that rating... :rotflo:
HEY, I resemble that remark :laff: , I would like to believe "more accumulating" but perhaps it's just that I'm getting :old:

What is it in the human heart that is so diabolical, so brutal and so absolutely lacking in any shred of humanity? I know, I know, it's a rhetorical question
But a question that must be examined and thought about OR or this behavior continues and worsens
I believe it is partially the lack of parenting - no morals instilled in this "do what feels good" society and no consequences for actions.

Isn't there some sort of unwritten rule that the President of the USA has to be even a little attractive? :str:
I don't think so - Richard Nixon comes to mind

Ok, :crossfingers: gonna attempt to post and hope I don't start getting errors and kicked out again :crossfingers:
