WASHINGTON (UPI) -- The U.S. Justice Department will dispatch a record number of federal election monitors to 20 states where Election Day problems are expected next week.
More than 800 observers and monitors will be sent to some 65 cities and municipalities for the Nov. 7 midterm elections, CNN reported Wednesday. More than 1,000 federal personnel were sent to monitor presidential elections in 2004, as voter turnout is higher than midterm elections, officials said.
