WASHINGTON — President Bush declared his intention to step up the War on Terror, proclaiming Tuesday that "we will not retreat" from the fight against radical Islamists bent on destroying America.
"We will not rest, we will not retreat, we will not withdraw from the fight until this threat to civilization is removed," Bush told a gathering of the Military Officers Association of America.
The president said Al Qaeda is "convinced they can force America to retreat… that we are weak and decadent and lacking in patience and resolve and they're wrong."

Democrats released their own study, saying it shows the country is less secure today than before Bush took office. Citing research done by the nonpartisan, nonprofit Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism, the report said the number of Al Qaeda members has jumped from 20,000 in 2001 to 50,000 today. It also charged that average weekly attacks in Iraq have jumped from almost 200 in spring 2004 to more than 600 this year, using numbers provided by the liberal-oriented Brookings Institution think tank.
"All the speeches in the world won't change what's going on in Iraq," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
"The truth is the president's policies have not worked and have not made us safer," said Sen. Thomas R. Carper, D-Del.
Well, let me just say this: If it were left up to you people, we would all be praying toward Mecca right now, or be dead...so y'all can kiss my patootie.

THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT!!!
Now this is exactly the kind of tough talk I have been waiting for...
However, there is this:
—"Terrorist networks today are more dispersed and less centralized. They are more reliant on smaller cells inspired by a common ideology and less directed by a central command structure."
-emphasis mine-
Name the "ideology" PLEASE!!!

The WOT is not easy, it is not fun and it is not cheap. The alternative, though, is not acceptable. Those who seem willing to accept the alternative, mainly because it requires no effort on their part, may deserve it, but we cannot allow them to take the rest of us with them.

Congress (particularly the Senate) need to be reminded what happened the last two times we listened to the liberal "Hollywood controlled" media and cut-and-ran. Remember the first Iraq War and the Vietnam War. The President is right cut-and-run just invites the "nuts" to attack us.

I hope this is not all talk. I'm waitng to see now what the government will do with the Hezbollah and terrorist cells along with terror training mosques here in the USA. Actually, we should have cleaned up our own back yard before we attempt to clean other back yards.

To which I say: AMEN!
The "Defend the USA against All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic" portion of the Oath of office needs to be re-enforced and re-pledged by our country's Leaders DAILY.
The "Impeachable" crime that the Democrats are seeking is easy to find whenever the Republicans try to impersonate Democrats.

I hope Bush is repaid for his sacrifices in this life and the next. Never has a President had to fight the enemy abroad and at home; in the form of 50% of the electorate who actually wants to see the US lose.

President Bush is showing his dogmatic tenacity and iron in his words. It's about time! Ever hear of the tale of being bitten by the snapping turtle? He won't let go until hell freezes over or lightning hits him! The president knows mistakes have been made but that's no excuse to run away from the problem! The Dems and Libs remind me of alcoholics who daily drink from the bottle of procrastination to hide from reality of their problematic nightmares. Unfortunately, when they try to sober up, the ole brick wall is there waiting to smack them right in the kisser! Where are all the answers they claim to have but never offer. I don't hear any problem solving devices coming forth from these critics of the administration's policies. If they have a better plan where is it? And why haven't they shown true responsibilty and grabbed their share of the load and helped haul it to the top of the hill? It shows immaturity, as a small child who has not gotten his way, so instead of growing up, learning, and moving on for improvement, they lie down, scream insanities, throw a fit, beat their heels into the dirt, whine, mew, and crybaby all over the place! It's enough to sicken a dog off a gut wagon! How do we elect and allow these kind of people to represent us who, by their own words and actions, don't earn their paycheck!Actions speak louder than words! Now is the time to rid ourselves of those who drag their feet and have little or no courage to fight our enemies! Let's put more steel into our governmental diets and start spitting some hard nosed facts of realism! Our enemies think we're nothing more than a bunch of cream puffs they can stomp on with their bare feet. Let's see how well they stomp on steel spikes!

Go Big Dog! Great posts gang! We can't quit. If they think I am trading in my religion for Ramadan season, they are sadly mistaken. Only the cut and run and try to apease the terrorists demoRATS do that. I think we should ship the dems out of this country as well. The traitors sure act like they want to leave. Take those Hollywood jerks with you, too.

Are they wrong? If you observe the Dems and the appeasers, they don't appear to be wrong.
Unfortunately, we have too many in this country who are willing to lie down and do nothing against terrorism. This is reflected in the President's poor approval ratings.
It is a sad day for America!

Rumor has it that the Islamofascists' new game plan to get us out of the ME is to get Americans to start fighting among themselves here at home.
I don't mean fistfights between two opposing crowds of demonstrators. And I don't have to paint a picture for this audience, thank God.
You've all got good imaginations. Imagine a war between two terrorist groups... with everybody else caught in the middle. Then draw your own conclusions on whether we need that here in this day and age...

Do you think the :moonbat: 's are so scared they fear ''standing up for America", thus they blame everything on Bush, Rumsfield and Cheney.....knowing those three men wont get into an air plane and fly it into their cabana?
I, too, hope this isn't just talk, prior to election day.............I want to believe him.
Of course, he cannot do this alone.............do n't the ''lilly livered :moonbat:'' understand, we must stand together?
They are still so angry cause Al Gore and John Kerry didnt win...?...but in their minds Bush didnt win, he went and grabbed the Oval Office, and got away with it?
I played more adult games in the third grade..........
I fear we are going to wear turbins on our heads if Reid/Pelosi/Kerry ever get into an office of power..............
I honestly believe they are either traitors or they are stoooopid.

If they want to retain control of Congress, Republican candidates must make this Bush speech's arguments the centerpiece of their campaign. The speech's most important part deals with Osama's letter about plans for a media campaign to create a wedge between the American people and their government, leading to an irresistible pressure to cut and run. It confirms that the Jihadist coalition is helping the Democrats win the coming elections. This is the reason why they haven't attacked us at home since 9/11. If they wanted they could cross into America through our porous borders, hide in our midst, and then mount coordinated attacks that could kill thousands of us or destroy portions of our infrastructure (which is not protected enough). But a repeat of 9/11 would spoil the Democrats' electoral chances. Therefore, the jihadists blow themselves up in Iraq, where they kill few Americans instead of the thousands they could kill here and wreck a few military vehicles instead of the billion dollar assets they could destroy here, because by doing so they help the Democrats whip up their defeatist propaganda and induce people to get mad at Bush and vote Democrat. The jihadists are following the lead of the Northvietnamese bastards, who could not defeat us on the battlefield, but won politically, by helping the defeatist party prevail in America. Republican candidates should stress all these facts and warn voters that a vote for the Democrats is a vote for the jihad's success. What's more, if the Democrats won the elections, the jihadists would have no more reason to refrain from attacking us at home. A Democrat victory would lead to more and worse repeats of 9/11. Republican candidates should stress this danger too in their electoral campaigns!

The problem is that Republicans have no backbone i.e. they're just democrat-lites. I listened to Santorum on Michael Medved yesterday and while he said that he supports the war in Iraq, he doesn't agree with the way Bush is prosecuting it. I tried to call in to tell Rick to shut his mouth. I get it. You are NEVER going to agree with everything that a person does. That's not an argument. It really weakens the Pres and the Republican Party. But I suppose that as long as Rick promisses more subsidies for Amtrak, he has a chance of getting reelected.
