:flag17: Welcome to :gopusa:

Ready for Wednesday's thread? I am. :D

So Kofi Annan shows his true colors by accusing Israel of targeting a UN observer post deliberately. It was probably a mistake but it would be no shock to me if the UN was sheltering Hezbollah there. :str:

If Clinton has allowed Israel to finish this in 1996 they might not have to do it now. :boots:

Most of the news is about the Middle East so let's just post it as it happens. :reporter:

Illinois has the largest state deficit in the country, some $3 billion dollars in debt.

A woman competing in a triathlon event in Boulder slammed into a bear at 40 mph when the bear crossed the road in front of her. I kid you not. Probably a conservative bear that has had enough of the People's Republic of Boulder. :yikes:

How would you like to have Karl Rove and Madeline Albright on your jury? They were both called for jury duty and wound up on the same panel yesterday. Rove was excused because he knew the judge. Not sure if they kept Albright or not. :str:

Ok, I finally saw the June 23rd thread. To all of you, I say

Words of Wisdom: "Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us that they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy 'accommodation.' And they say if we only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he will forget his evil ways and learn to love us. All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers. They say we offer simple answers to complex problems. Well, perhaps there is a simple answer—not an easy one, but a simple one—if you and I have the courage to tell our elected officials that we want our national policy based upon what we know in our hearts is morally right... [E]very lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face." ~ Ronald Reagan

In a Quagmire of Stupidity! "This is very clear, a disproportionate use (of power). Civilian infrastructure is protected. The law is very clear. You cannot have any interpretation in any other way." ~ Jan Egeland, the U.N. under-secretary general for humanitarian affairs :smash:

Yep this the same SOB that said we (the United States) were not giving enough to the tsunami victims in Indonesia. He knew damn well that we were giving the most. What galled him the most was that, he could not skim the cream off the top of the pile.

Someone ought to take him out to the middle of the Lebanon and Israeli border and tell both sides that he is a target, have at it. In fact, I think that that should be done to all of the :moonbat: on both sides of the aisle.

Okay, 'nuff of that.

If you're interested (all who read this), the Factor (Bill O'Reilly) tomorrow night is supposed to do an "expose" type segment on old man Soros, the bound-and-determined ruiner of America! I hope the old fool is exposed so bad he is disgraced right out of our country. I don't know why he doesn't go back to his third world cave anyway. He's much too old to be so stupid! Unfortunately, he's a very dangerous man who has the money to advance his twisted viewpoint.

Catch up with y'all tomorrow. It's Sandman time.

Good Morning, Ya'll, (I think)

It seems a lot of us are going through things that we think we can't, at times, and I thought some of the rest of you might get some comfort from these quotes:

STRENGTH--You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." - Eleanor Roosevelt

FAITH--When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly. - Edward Teller

I may be wrong about anyone else liking them, --but, I liked them!

Heard yesterday that my brother is not doing so well, although he had been eating and gained some weight and my SIL, who has been a caretaker, who NEVER complains, is just worn out! Talked to my number 3 son, who had the surgery to remove his cancer and he didn't say it--just mother's intuition, but I think he's fighting depression cause he can't do all the things he used to, but I'm praying that will change with time! I suppose, when you're 50, you expect to get over things immediately and it just doesn't usually happen that way! He wasn't really complaining, just answering my questions!

Didn't hear anyone else mention it, but was anyone listening to Rush the other day when Winston Churchill's great grandson called in  He said he had never met George Bush, but he felt strongly that he would leave a great legacy--he's in the US giving lectures on his great grandfather and said he felt GW was very much like him--They saw what needed to be done and didn't care what others thought about them so much as getting the job done! Yes, I know some of you will disagree with that--but, I marvel every day at the grace with which he handles himself! Can you imagine :pinocchio: taking all that criticism and not saying something mean and hateful

Ya'll have a good day and I do hope today was better than yesterday for all of us!

DA, I know you said you'd be watching--certainly hope your surgery went well and that you'll be back with us real soon!

So Kofi Annan shows his true colors by accusing Israel of targeting a UN observer post deliberately. It was probably a mistake but it would be no shock to me if the UN was sheltering Hezbollah there.
Talk about a knee-jerk reaction. It's a little obvious he doesn't like Israel, and that won't help in the effort to create world peace, so he should resign. Better yet, he should be the next "peacekeeper" to man the UN post.

...What peace were they there to keep anyway? They should have abandon the post once the fireworks started. So it's actually Knee-jerk Kofi's fault.

He's too unprofessional to be secretary general. But the security counsel wouldn't be the same without him, nor would the whole of the UN, therefore the entire body should be abolished.

Good morning in a crazy world.

If Clinton has allowed Israel to finish this in 1996 they might not have to do it now.

There is no doubt left that radical Islam and maybe all of Islam has to be crushed to a point that it will never return if this planet is to live in peace for any period of time. We – the Anglo imperialists, turned capitalists – have evolved from starting wars of conquest to fighting for peace. I suppose that France having been crushed many times by war have evolved into the most :: in Europe. Germany too has been forged by a long history of violence that has made them avoid conflict even in the face of the dire danger that the planet faces from Islam.

Soros is one of the worst of the worst. He totally destroyed several national economies to get his money and the world let him keep the money because they didn’t know how to stop him until it was too late. In the 60s Soros would have been dealt with by the CIA.

Stormy, I agree that the problem with Clinton trying to handle the war on terror is that we wouldn’t know the truth about what is going on. It’s ironic that liberal hoard is so quick to disbelieve W. Maybe because they just want to make him look more dishonest than Clinton was.

Good Morning GOP USA!!! Behold, I bring good tidings of great joe.... :f_coffee:
I'm feeling better this morning, thank the Good Lord. I can dig into the sewing and get it done. I have a whole boxful of purses to do!
It's a bit rainy here--we just got a light dampening. Ludington to Big Rapids is getting whacked *again* grrrrr....they get all the rain they need and then some, and we continue to be rather parched. We have had enough rain so that Dad hasn't had to water the garden, but the pond is shrinking away like last summer. Hubby has to walk farther and farther down there to feed his fishies.
Susie, my Aunt and Uncle used to live in Christmas.
Awesome! Sure is beautiful country there in Upper Michigan. I have been there many a time--my Bro went to Michigan Tech in Houghton, we used to camp near Curtis every summer, went to Lake Gogebic one summer, Drummond Island one summer, Hubby and I took a second honeymoon when Sonny-Boy was on the way and went to Macinac Island and then Pictured Rocks and the Garden Peninsula....wonderf ul place to visit. Say yah to da UP eh? (There's lots to do and see here in the Mitten too)
They are showing proof on an everyday basis, they are not true American's. They need to move away from this country and form their own little country or island.
They keep telling us they are going to leave if we keep electing Republicans, but they just keep on staying among us and spewing hatred. If they had a place of their own, they could just live in the peace and bliss they keep telling us we could have, if we would just lay aside our hatred. Hmmmm...
STRENGTH--You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." - Eleanor Roosevelt
Good quote. I have looked the big C in the face, and have learned to put my negative emotions aside and walk in peace and joy.
Must get busy--enjoy the coffee and danishes and have a delightful day. :grouphug: s and prayers to those in need.
Blessings,
Sewing Susie :geekgirl:

Good morning all.

A hot summer night is a good time to go down to the corner ice cream store. And many did. We were there last night, 25 strong, dressed all alike, to entertain them. We sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", "Wait 'Till The Sunshines, Nellie", and more, closing with "God Bless America". Nice appreciative audience. Some stayed to listen for a bit. Felt good to be part of it.

Yes, I did hear Rush's conversation with Winston Churchill III or whatever number he is. I almost stood up and cheered. I know why GW has such grace (under fire) he knows he's prayed for by almost half of the people in this country. God in your corner gives one a lot of self-confidence, not to be confused with arrogance, as the Left would have it.

Stormy, got your pm Sunday but I had company. And then the Hub was busy trying to cut his fingers off.

Interesting post about CNN reporting just what Hezbollah allowed them to report and not telling their viewers that that was the case in the threads. Sorry, didn't look to see what category it was in. Probably 4th Estate.

Peter Arnett did the same thing, did he not? It seems to me that CNN is only too willing to be the mouthpiece for terrorists.

BTW, isn't he working for al Jazeera now?

But why should we AJ, when you've done it for us so nicely?

Chicago aldermen are trying to pass a city statute making it mandatory to put a microchip in pet dog's necks. They've also banned foie gras and pit bulls and are trying to ban restaurant cooking oils with trans fats. They've already passed a statute making cab drivers wear white shirts and matching pants and socks. What the heck? Illinois has the biggest state deficit in the country. If their state reps are passing laws the way the Chicago board does, I'm sure they've spent more money in feel-good legislation than even California. These people are nutz!!

First) It should come as no surprise that the UN, in the form of little Kofi, is a leading protector of the world-wide terrorist movement. Annan's accusation that UN observers were deliberately killed by Israeli soldiers is but another of a long list of examples of the UN facilitating various terrorist organizations. There is no room for negotiations here with Hezbollah. There must not be a time limit imposed on Israel for dismantling this terrorist group. The UN is one of the major impediments to successfully battling these SOBs.

Second) Labeling the fight we are in "War On Terror" was a mistake. That label is far too generic to be focused and usefull. Bush should have pronounced it to be what it should be - War On Hezbollah, al Queda, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc., etc. Simplicity is a Bush strong point. Unfortunately, however, clarity is not.

Third) We made a mistake at the outset in Iraq. The mistake: fighting a MINIMALIST war. I'm a conservative; sadly, many Republicans are not. Consequently, while some jump to defend the GOP even when the politicians are full of caca, I have no such inclination. By not going in at full strength - enough men/material to bring order to the country immediately - we allowed power voids to occur. This led to local militias to fill the void - Maqtada al Sadr and his militia comes to mind. There is no doubt we are fighting these militia members today("insurgents"), along with "imports" (because we don't have the force levels to effectively close the Iraqi borders).

World Community Myth: Let me give you a tip. There is NOT any such thing as the "world community". I wish tere were, but there is not. A "community", by definition, has shared values and goals. Now look at the member states making up the UN. I rest my case!!

Excuse the rambling, please.

I have some thoughts about those Unholy Nations observers being at that particular spot at that particular time.

I do believe that the so-called observers were spying for the terrorists. What a better way to give Hezbollah Intel information. than sit right in the middle of the action pretending to be neutral? The Israelis caught wind of what they were doing and deliberately dropped those eggs on them to keep their (Israelis’) actions a secret.

There could be some merit in what you say, Stan. If it's so, the UN would be even worse than we already think it is.

I posted a thread in "War on Terror" the other day which doesn't seem to be getting much notice. I found the article (1 of 4) on the FOX website. It's about the mass of intelligence which was found after Saddam was overthrown. There are documents that show he was in communication with bin Laden before 9-11. Here's the link in case you're interested. Right here. (http://www.gopusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309 79)

So the UN leaves some of their people right in the middle of a war zone and because they get killed Israel has to stop going after the terrorists and investigate how it could have happened?? I guess those guy – if they were UN troops and not Hezbollah in UN colors – are glade that they got the fighting stopped for a few minutes.

As we watch the Middle East collapse into all out war we have to remember that Saddam was in power only because he was surrounded by some very evil cut throats. That group is still alive and worse is the fact that the Iraqi Shiites are more likely to support Hezbollah than the Americans who freed them from Saddam.

Wow! Mentioning Curtis really brings back memories. My first trip to the UP was to meet my future in-laws. Wasn't yet public knowledge that we were planning to be married. The first night my fiance and his brother took me out on the town. Started from home (Newberry), on to Dollarville (don't think it exists anymore), and after a few more stops ended up in Curtis. I certainly wasn't a drinker and on the way home, fell asleep in the car. My future BIL ended carrying me up the stairs and dumped me on the bed, clothes and all. Next morning about 11 I finally awoke with the most horrible hangover. I was so embarrassed to face my future MIL. She broke the ice with the comment 'Conny, there's some V8 juice in the fridge, help yourself. Or if you prefer, there's some aspirin in that cupboard.' :huh2: She was a non-drinker and just knew her two sons were up to no good when we left the house the previous night.

We got along famously. To her dying day she blamed her two sons for taking out the 'kid' (I had just turned 21) and getting her all snockered up.

The UP holds many marvelous memories for me.

Good morning!

When Kofi Annan makes such outrageous statements, reasonable people should speak out and challenge him. It would be difficult for world leaders to do this for diplomatic reasons, but an honest, unbiased press should call these kind of statements to the public's attention. Unfortunately honest press, and unbiased press, are both oxymorons.

How would you like to have Karl Rove and Madeline Albright on your jury? Rove as a reasonable person would be fine, but Albright isn't very bright and not one of my peers.

GR, you made so many good points on your entire post, I'm not going to quote anything and just say.....I agree completely.

Stormy, I enjoyed both of your quotes. Thank you.

Winston Churchill's great grandson called in He said he had never met George Bush, but he felt strongly that he would leave a great legacy--he's in the US giving lectures on his great grandfather and said he felt GW was very much like him--They saw what needed to be done and didn't care what others thought about them so much as getting the job done! Yes, I did hear the conversation and it made me proud. We might not agree with all of his decisions, but Bush is a leader and is willing to try new ways to fix old problems instead of doing things the way they've always been done previously, and failed to improve anything.

Danny D It was probably a mistake but it would be no shock to me if the UN was sheltering Hezbollah there. Nor to me. The UN has proven to be an untrustworthy sham organization, and I would not put anything past it, including protecting, aiding, and abetting terrorists.

He's too unprofessional to be secretary general. I agree, but remember, Bill Clinton has been mentioned as a possible next secretary general when Annan's term is over. As bad as Annan is.....if Clinton won the seat, he might be worse. :mr_yuk:

If Bill Clinton is made SG of the UN at least we won’t have as many UN wives and daughters in the country.

Well now, that may make a person rethink the event. What did the bear do?

Hi everyone. :wavey:

Welcome to our new members.

I am home.

After work, I attended a volunteer meeting for Attorney General Charlie Crist. He is running for governor in our state. Crist is up way ahead in the polls as much as 30% both for the primary and against any democrat nominee. It is imperative our state has another Republican in the governor's mansion.

Our state will be key in 2008.

Well, I guess everyone heard that Andrea Yeats is "insane" for killing 5 kids!

A very small child wandered out in her yard here, petted, or tried to pet, a new-born puppy and the pit bull mother attacked her--she died on the way to the hospital from loss of blood. Her parents may be convicted of criminal negligence!

Is one worse than the other  :shake:

I know LuckyMe said something I was going to comment on, but had a knock on the door and forgot what it was--whatever it was, I'm sure, was important.

Welcome, FUDD & Conny--we're glad to have you here at :gopusa:

The only place I've been in Michigan is straight up through Lansing on my way to the lake shore and nearly froze to death in August! Didi go over to that pretty island that Sewing Susie talked about early--for some reason, my old brain won't come up with the name, but I loved it there!

OR, you must not have listened yesterday--they lifted that and he can get the treatments he wants-although, they aren't through with them in court--seems so dumb to me.

OH, I know what LuckyMe said that has to be wrong---only Homeland Security passes laws that infringe on our rights--not the city gov't of Chicago! I bet you Wal-Mart won't be moving into there, either.

Amawalk John, are you retarded, do you still work or --whoops, I meant "retired"--you see, the only reason I'm retired is that I got tired once and, then, got tired again--that does amount to "retired", right? Anyway, love your sense of humor!!

I reckon I've rambled enough--gotta get back to my :mouse: killin' and then, I have a meeting to go to--it's terrible to be so important! :laff:

Panera Bread is open in Port Charlotte, so I got a bagel and cream cheese and signed onto the internet. TGImR, that means you don't have to worry about bailing me out of jail. I made the stupid mistake of sitting outside. The mosquitos are starting to come out. It gets dark here about 1 1/2 hours before it does in Indy and I just can't get used to it.

I saw lots of Rory Dubin signs today. If signage is a "sign" of how he is doing, things are good!

That's it for now.

Thanks for the compliment, I think, Stormy.
I'm semi-retired.

How evocative! You've made me look up the lyrics.

Oh, the moonlight's fair tonight along the Wabash
From the fields there comes the breath of new-mown hay
Through the sycamores, the candlelights are gleaming,
On the banks of the Wabash, far away.

Hey guys:

I've been off for a few days because my old computer got a virus. I bought a new Dell and got it in 3 days and now it's up and running.

I love it!

I'll catch y'all later when I have more time to talk. :wavey:

Oh, the moonlight's fair tonight along the Wabash
From the fields there comes the breath of new-mown hay
Through the sycamores, the candlelights are gleaming,
On the banks of the Wabash, far away. I like the Allan Sherman version from his first album "My Son, The Folk Singer": (Side Two, last Track "Shticks and Shtones"
Oh the moon is bright tonight above the car wash
So I'm having my Volkswagon washed again
But the way things go with me, the way my luck runs,
Just as soon as they are finished, it will rain!

Thanks again for asking about Dad. I got in too late to call Mom on the phone tonight, so i will call her first thing in the morning. He will be going in for tests to see if surgery is feasable. However, after seeing what chemo did to her sister, my mother will NEVER consent to let my Dad have it. My sister (the one that likes me) works for a big shot at the hospital, so I am sure he will get the best of care. She is very ASSERTVE (to put it nicely!):D My cousin from Oklahoma emailed me (Mary lou, the one who had the terrible car accident and then was caught in the brush fires) and she is very concerned about her Uncle Clayton and Autie Ginny. I have notified his navy buddies who have contacted me by e-mail about the situation. Thank you so much for your prayers. I can't tell you how much it means to me.

I betcha got a good box at a good price Papajaxxx!

I hope she serves you well.

I pray that you never need support from DELL.

My last two $8,500.00 DELL servers, are exactly why my next server will be an HP.

I believe that the "D" in DELL, was a typo, it should have been an "H".
