Don't forget Madonna has a new album that was released this week...Urge your friends, family, kids, etc. not to buy it. Spread the word, forward this email.

Send a message to these entertainers that continue to trash our country. Madonna doesn't even live in the US anymore and feels that she can preach to Americans about how corrupt our society is...Truly amazing coming from the "Material Girl"

Material Girl Madonna Slams American Values
Thu April 24, 2003 10:34 AM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. pop superstar Madonna, one of music's richest performers, has attacked her fellow Americans for being obsessed with the "wrong values" such as getting rich and looking good.
Madonna, often nicknamed the Material Girl, told the Radio Times that Americans had opportunities people in other countries did not have but got caught up in superficial dreams.

"We as Americans are completely obsessed and wrapped up in a lot of the wrong values -- looking good, having cash in the bank, being perceived as rich, famous and successful or just being famous," Madonna told the television listings magazine.

"It's the most superficial part of the American dream and who would know better than me? The only thing that's going to bring you happiness is love and how you treat your fellow man and having compassion for one another."

The interview coincided with the release this week of Madonna's latest album "American Life."

The album -- her first for three years -- received poor reviews and left many critics asking if pop's most successful chameleon had lost her touch after 20 years at the top.

<Click link for rest of story>

"The critics have been writing me off for 20 years. That's nothing new. As far as I know I still have plenty of fans and sell lots of records. Do I care what critics say about me? No, and I don't read reviews."

I FIND IT INTERESTING HOW WHEN SOMEBODY SPEAKS THEIR OPINION THAT IS IN ANY WAY DISSENTING OR DIFFERING FROM THE NORM, THEY ARE MET WITH HOSTILITY, BOYCOTTING, AND CENSORSHIP. I HOPE THAT EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS THIS WAR, THAT BELIEVES IT IS NECESSARY TO PROTECT AMERICAN VALUES AND FREEDOMS, TAKES A MOMENT TO THINK ABOUT HOW THOSE VALUES AND FREEDOMS ARE BEING PROTECTED IN THE HOMELAND. ALLOW TO ME CITE THE 1ST AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION, WHICH INCLUDES TO RIGHT OF FREE SPEECH AND THE RIGHT TO PETITION THE GOVERNMENT. PERHAPS WE SHOULD REEVALUATE WHAT EXACTLY IS HAPPENING TO THESE FREEDOMS THAT WE ARE FIGHTING FOR SO DEARLY.

The Bill of Rights protects the individual from the government. In the case of personal choice, I have just as much right as anyone else to advocate or condemn anyone or anything, particuliarly in the public domain.

My calling for a boycott of anything has absolutely nothing to do with the government or freedom of speech. As long as I am willing to suffer the consequences of my actions, I am free to do that which I please.

Just as people like Madonna have a right to pollute my society with their garbage, I have the same right to impact their sales value. And I am very willing to do so.

Yes, unlike those kind understanding individuals who are politely rebuking Sen. Santorum. Or those who thoughtfully and with proper elucidation remark on Pres. Bush's policies. And we must not forget to acknowledge that epitome of professional decorum, Sen. Shillery Clinton and her attack dogs Carville and Begala.

The only censorship I've seen to date seems to be with the media in reporting on illicit and improper matters surrounding the Democrats. What ever happened to Sen. Edwards' Arkansas connection or the campaign finance irregularities. We heard all about the Rep. trying to steal the Florida election, but where was that concise and timely reporting that:

a: Bush really did win the Florida election after numerous recounts.
b: Dems controlled the voting apparatus and polling places.
c: The networks calling the election in Florida before the polls closed influencing *(disenfranchising) people in the western part of the state.
d: Sen. Lautenberg's hijacking of the Senate seat, abetted by a crooked state supreme court.
e: Any of the nefarious deeds committed by the Clinton gang.

All I've seen here are a bunch of people asking others with different opinions to back up those opinions with something resembling fact or at least common sense.

Welcome to the forum, rellybois.

Let me get this straight.

When Hollywood or Nashville "stars" speak out against the war and against the president that's freedom of speech.

Well, I don't have any trouble agreeing with that.

But if conservatives speak out against Hollywood or Nashville "stars" that's villification.

Your double standard is showing.

Freedom of speech is not just for some. Please show me in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights where it says that conservatives don't have the same rights as the left.

I don't think it's shameful at all. It's the laws of the marketplace. If you depend on your public for your success you have to decide if expressing your opinion is worth offending your audience.

What these whiny crybabies and their whiny supporters want is freedom from the natural consequences of their actions. It's time for liberals to face the cold hard facts of life.

Don't sweat it, some people just don't get it...

I thought a great summary of all of this comes straight from President Bush, in his interview with Tom Brokaw:

Tom Brokaw: Well, the Dixie Chicks, for example. Would you have them come to the White House?

President Bush: I mean, the Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say. And just because — they shouldn’t have their feelings hurt just because some people don’t want to buy their records when they speak out. You know, freedom is a two-way street. But I have — don’t really care what the Dixie Chicks said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some singers or Hollywood stars feel like speaking out, that’s fine. That’s the great thing about America. It stands in stark contrast to Iraq, by the way.

Please quit yelling (caps).

People like the Dixie Chicks and Madonna are public figures and as such are fair targets. Courts have ruled that proving slander and libel against such public figures is similiar to doing so to politicos.

Your double standards are unbelievable. Any "conservative" who has challenged the welfare state, global warming, international trade agreements, immigration control or a plethora of other liberal causes is immediately labelled a bigot, xenophobe, homophobe or worse. Those of us who believe the Constitution is a "leash" on government and that any power not specified in the document falls to the individual state, are hysterically called "statists" (which we are) and white supremicists and bigots (which we certainly are not). We believe in states rights.

And what I know is... This country was built on the foundations of Judeo-Christian values and a free economy. Not Judeo-Christian religion or laws but values. The same values that are espoused in virtually all religions worldwide.

The free economy allows any person to reach his full potential without government restriction, as long as his actions are not detrimental to others. All societies, besides breeding pairs, place some restrictions on individual conduct. Our forefathers followed Anglican law regarding courts and basic laws. Murder, theft, usury, etc. were banned. The Constitution enumerated the restrictions on the government.

When allowed to function freely, our economy and our country flourished. We made great gains in production, trade, technology, transportation and individual prosperity. We were the envy of the world. Lines were impossibly long to immigrate to the "land of opportunity."

Yes, there were some some who got fabulously wealthy. There were some who became incredibly poor. But as the Crash of '29 showed, the wealthy could be brought down. Any person with the willingness to try can succeed.

A free society, such as ours, also has leeches who begrudge the successful the fruits of their labor and demand a portion of their reward. Instead of working or creating, they protest, picket and agitate to gain a cut of the pie. When they can't intimidate or coerce their way, they band together into organizations. These organizations gain power through numbers. If the organization can't intimidate or coerce satisfactorily they change the law.

These people are called liberals. They espouse passion for the individual, but tax him out of his home. The demand an end to the death penalty, but support abortion. They give lip service to free speech, as long as they agree with what's said. They cry about poverty but their leaders live like kings. They scream loud and long about money for defense and spend billions on pork barrel profects.

Conservatives produce. Liberals consume. America was built by Conservatives. She is being destroyed by Liberals.

You're still yelling! And ranting! Take a prozac!

By your last, one must assume you live in a parallel universe where you don't drive a vehicle, use no electricity, don't exhale CO2, use no wood or wood by-products and don't walk on the ground.

The polar ice caps???

Yes, the US is a great consumer of natural resources. One consumes raw materials to produce the products necessary to meet the needs of its people. We've used them to enrich the lives of our people. That's what governments do. We've also enabled people in parched lands to grow food through desalinization and irrigation technology. We (I use the collective "we" to include other industrialized powers) have developed satellite communications, modern medicine and remote delivery of that medicine, greater access to information, protection from disasters, natural and manmade, and a host of other modern conveniences.

The Kyoto Convention is a flawed document, used by the third world to rein in the industrialized world. It is a gimmick to enact a one-worldsmanship that aims to redistribute the wealth (socialism) from the haves to the have nots. Even countries that signed the document are withdrawing from it (see Japan). Even Clinton was upset and said Gore exceeded his authority in agreeing to the document. You may have noticed Clinton left it to be signed by Bush.

We never had a ABM treaty with Russia. If you are referring to the one we had with the Soviet Union, it was abrogated when the USSR dissolved.

The polar ice caps???

The conservatives have lifted our foreign policy from the trash bin liberals had thrown it in and have re-established the US as a world power with teeth. In case you've failed to notice, the countries we have strained relations with are also the countries that flagrantly violated UN treaties and resolutions. Clinton bribed the North Koreans to be good. They now need more attention and so they are raising their ugly demands once again. Bush is standing up to them and refuses to capitulate. The countries that are upset with us are upset because we finally have a leader who has our national interests at heart and refuses to return to a policy of appeasement. The only way we will ever have good and honest relations with Islamic countries is to convert to an Islamic state.

We can easily see what our good relations with France, Germany, Russia, Canada, et al, got us when we tried to compel the UN to address its own enforcement concerns in Iraq. Each day brings more revelations of duplicity and criminal activity on our "friends" behalf.

I'm not convinced abortion is a right. I still can't find any reference to it in the Constitution. That means the issue devolves to the states, where I believe many have already spoken - disapproving the "right." But, here again that's not convenient to the liberals so they get a flexible court give it legal standing. Whenever it is challenged, libs scream and cry about those "right wing" "Christian fanatics" destroying the civil rights of all Americans, in their most rational and civil manner, of course.

Medicare, education and tax breaks for the needy and impovished are not found anywhere in the Constitution. As heartless as it sounds, we are not a socialist state and that's not out responsibility. We are a country and do have a responsibility to our less fortunate. We made a fair start with the welfare reforms of the 1990s. Able-bodied people were helped with education, skills retraining and daycare facilities, enabling them to become productive and self-sufficient. It is not the responsibility of the federal government to tax its populace and micromanage the welfare of each citizen.

The polar ice caps???

I will not for a minute propose all means should address production. There is a necessary amount of consumption in all societies. My main thrust is that the emphasis has shifted from production to consumption. This is not in keeping with free enterprise that has made America great.

Unfortunately, you have not given any examples of production by the left. What has the left produced? Please don't give me the "ideas and concepts" answer unless you can provide a useful means of paying for them.

They are free to speak, but fail to realize that there are consequences to their statements and actions. They hide behind their shield and cry "persecution" all the while they continue to attack and try to bring down our great country thru moral erosion and decay.
